The Saturn was an absolute powerhouse when the right people developed for it. It had 8 processors, for all sorts of stuff. It’s power could probably if pushed to its limits rival the n64
The Saturn version is amazing with light effects and the 2 player mode is great ( you need 2 consoles, 2 copies of the game, 2 tv , 2 modems and a Viking line simulator…that’s a lot of stuff 😂) The online still work also
The Saturn version has a nice soundtrack, I remember reading and watching about the Genesis/Mega Drive version which was released only here in Brazil, the developers used a simplified version of Build engine, I think the result was great hardware wise, really good to see the hardware being pushed like this.
Saturn version was awful, but was made by Brazil company with only few ppl... they say they got permission but ID said they did that without permission. They do some they own ports long after genesis death
I do like how detailed the posters look in the high resolution versions...it makes me realize that the developers in the 90's put a lot of effort into those details but the hardware was not able to show that very well. With that said I do like the look of the 90's versions as well as the grainy look adds to a gritty feel and atmosphere and also fits the relatively simple objects and textures. It looks a bit odd to have super-high resolution when you don't even have fully 3D enemy corpses or details like that.
The PS1 version made my summer holidays after 7th grade. I even did not notice fps drops. Saturn version seems most graphtcally impressive, yet it runs on different engine. Genesis is just incredible. Pushes the limits to the top! And for some reason underrated. They ported lots animations, sprites, sounds ...almost identical. Zero tolerance is a joke compared with
Bloodshot was a nice FPS for the Megadrive with clean textures, and things scaled without dithering. I don’t know why it’s not talked much in retro channels. Even the maps had angular walls so not everything was a 90 degree angle. The only thing sucks is running to the exit after you defeat the boss to make it through the level.
@@V_Jax is that a bad thing? As Mega Drive FPSs go graphically it’s the most polished one. And the enemies, items have tones and shadows, aren’t flat, so technically it’s still pretty cool to see how they scale so clean. Any other game that uses software scaling dithers heavily like Zero Tolerance, Duke 3D, road rash and lawnmower man end boss. I did boot up on my Ambernic console last night duke 3D and Zero tolerance. Zero tolerance is actually a pretty fun game. Would be cool if that game got a modern/retro remake where they gave it a bigger view and cleaned up the dithering a little. Also mad props to the OG devs that made the rom available 20 years ago and the unreleased sequel so people could play it. Instead lawyering up like other publishers.
@@sloppynyuszi talking about zero tolerance i ment only graphics, gameplay itself is great. Also shuld notice that DN the active screen of game is largest! And not the 1/6 of the screen. Cartoonish is not bad. Bloodshot looks so polished because its textures are most simple among all those games
@@V_Jax that’s just smart design from the Blood shot guys. They stayed within the MD limits and made a clean looking FPS. The monsters are pretty detailed too though, and look a lot cleaner than DN enemies. All 3 are doing things the Mega Drive wasn’t designed to do, and doing it well to a point, and should be applauded. I just think Blood Shot visually is the better of the 3.
The N64 is my all time favorite. Had a blast with co-op buddies as well. I had the Vita version, though I sold the handheld years before. Then re-bought the PS Vita during Covid, and was disappointed that the game is no longer available. Not even redownload. I was not aware of it’s complete removal. So I got the Switch version instead.
I am a bit late and perhaps nobody cares anyway, but the PS3 version is actually rendering in full hd, meaning 1920x1080 if only 1080p is selected in xmb. I couldn't believe it myself and there is not a single word anywhere about it, but I tested it today and yeah, ps3 plays in native 1080p, not upscaled. Cheers.
It’s funny to see in the ps3 era they where still trying to modernize the game and make it look better with texture filtering then on the ps4 they kept the original blocky textures keeping the original feel of the game.
No one was playing MS-DOS DN3D at 320x200. I was always playing it at 640x480 or 800x600 with my Pentium 100 PC. As for 486 PCs, they were quite obsolete at the time and way to slow for DN3D even in 320x200 mode.
Excelente video hermano, consideraste incluso la version de sega genesis, buen trabajo. Sin embargo creo que hubiera sido genial que incluyeras la version de xbox Clasico y xbox 360. Saludos
My favorite versions are of course MS-DOS and Sega Genesis. Because both of these versions were hardware limit pushers. The Genesis version is a completely different game altogether, but the fact that they were even able to do this on a genesis is a marvel of software engineering. The MS-DOS version was powered by probably the most impressive 3D engine for the PC at the time of release. The other versions are boring from a technical point of view IMO as all the other platforms have dedicated 3d hardware
Nice bro. Great video!! But I saw on Google earlier, if this game is for the Microsoft Windows or PC version bro, and that game is on Steam bro, why don't you compare the PC version too bro??
The Steam version is not like the MS Dos version, it's the 20th Anniversary World Tour edition published by Gearbox Software, which means, yes, Randy Pitchford had something to do with it.
Probably the PS1 running on PS2 by backwards compatibility mode... With "texture smoothing" option. There was not official PS2 port version of Duke Nukem 3d.
Turn on the resolution 800x600 in the DOS version and it will break all other versions! In the review you deliberately humiliated her by setting the resolution to low 320x240 >_
@@123OGNIAN 2.5D?? characters in the game are 2D sprites, same as the original game, background is 3d polygon based of course (again, same as original game and N64 btw). N64 got additional hw mipmapping / z-buffer, unlike previous 32-bit console (SS/PSX).
The only thing I don't like is that the PS4 version is the original, unremastered game ported to the PS4, including the poor audio quality of the original. I would have liked it to have the audio quality of the Nintendo Switch, and the image quality of the PS3 and PSP (aka Xbox 360) versions.
which one is your favorite?
Ps3
Saturn, MSDos y Psx
PS4
Xbox version
N64
I came here to see this unspoken Genesis version. That one is straight up a different game
the N64 version's style is radically different from all others, that's interesting
Yeah I always thought they should rerelease it like Doom64
Yea I didn't even notice until i saw the side by side comparison, i have it for my n64 and my switch

Wow I didn't know duke nukem 3D was released on Genesis!
Only in Brazil
It technically didn't, as we never got it in the US, it was only in Brazil, and it was released by TecToy.
There exist also Duke Nukem Advanced for the Game Boy Advanced.
@@ChaseMC215 it got a worldwide release in 2015

The Sega Genesis/MegaDrive port is very impressive
Yes, but it was a completely different game. All simple tunnel levels were like in Wolfenstein 3D.
Sin duda la version de 64, sus armas exclusivas y eso de que salve mujeres va con duke nukem.

Did you run the Saturn and N64 versions on original hardware? Or emulator?
Anyway this is a good example how powerful Sega Saturn was in right hands.
I think visually, the PS4 is the best looking. When it comes to performance, definately the Sega Saturn version. It looks incredible
Even though I played the game on my PS1 back in the day, but I must say the the N64 looks the best to me.
The best version is the original (PC) but I love the Saturn version. And the fantastic multiplayer mode on N64!
Saturn version 🤩
Duke Nukem 3D Megaton Edition for Windows PC, the best of all those there.
Looks like they used the Powerslave engine for the Sega Saturn version?
Yes, it was made by the same developer company: Lobotomy Software. It uses the Slave Driver engine
Nintendo 64 и Saturn - безумно топ

La version N64 pour sa prise de risque au niveau graphique. Sinon globalement elle sont toutes bien.

The iOS port is missing. Shame it’s delisted and can only play it on an old iPod touch
The Tapwave Zodiac version was actually a different version, with different levels like the Genesis version
Interesting. I had the Zodiac, but never owned that version of DNE. I just remember it being one of the higher profile games alongside Tony Hawk 😅
