Loosen the nut on handlebar brakes, so that it gives the cable a bit more slack for you work with. Once you have hooked it up, then tighten up the nut, and you’ll have to do some fine tuning to ensure the brake pads are not touching the wheel. Hope it helps.
I couldn't get my handlebar stem in either. It doesn't say it in the instructions (thanks Kmart lol) but I slowed this video right down and you can see that he takes that rubber covering off before sliding into the frame. Only then will it go in. It can be hard to get it off but you'll get there. If I hadn't have seen this vid I would still be losing my mind! Thank you :)
