I'm with you right there. I bought this album when it came out, never really appreciated it until about now. These, you have to listen to the lyrics vs the music to appreciate them for what they are.
What if James never go on rehabilitation before St.anger and he loses his fight with depression and alcoholism? Maybe people after his premature death will start to view load and reload as a reflection of his dark times and start praising this masterpiece. Luckily James won, he is alive and load and reload still misunderstood gems.
Like Chester Bennington of Linkin Park in their last album, One More Light. If Chester never killed himself, the lyrics there would pass unnoticed and the fans would crucify the album and the band, until they put out something to make fans happy (like what happened to Metallica)

This goes to show how powerful a band Metallica is. Blues metal is a style not many can master, but Metallica killed it! They'll always be my favorite because when they put their twist on something, it always kicks ass.
That Guitar Guy Metallica proved with St. Anger and the Loads they CAN do anything and do it well. And then there’s S&M! First of all, metal is a way of life to most people, not just music, so they take changes personally. Other metal bands don’t stray from the formula because of that, or they don’t have the talent or the balls! Metallica are MUSICIANS, not just metalheads. They proved that. They aren’t afraid to experiment, grow, change. You can’t stagnate in metal mode your entire career because that’s what you fans want, especially if you’re growing and changing as a person. They always said they do what THEY want. Everyone’s not gunna like that and you can’t make everyone happy. If people don’t like it, they can listen to one of their albums they do like. It took me 10 years to truly appreciate the Loads and I love them now. Sometimes you just need to grow into stuff...or out. 🖤

Yes their style changed yes it was successful but they did what they wanted the way they wanted and didn't care what anyone thought. It wasn't like like said hey we need to change and sound like this so we can be more mainstream. It just kind of happened that way. What metallica does is the opposite of selling out. They do what they want period and don't care what anyone says. They've never done what the label told them or anything of the sort. People see it as a change that made them more of a house hold name and automatically equate that to selling out but that is incorrect imo.
This song for me, has TREMENDOUS meaning to my life. All my childhood I've grown up knowing that somewhere my dad is out there, I've never seen him, he abused my mother and then ran away when I was born and ever since he's haunted me I want to find him one day and send him this song on a blank CD. I want to heal what fathers done but the pins just keep on jabbing me, happy fathers day.

I never heard sentences such as I love You and always felt like a complete failure because of the way I got treated by my parents. I never noticed, but when the lyrics "A ritual's due" is uttered , the following lines, "shell of shotgun, pint of gin" follow the Three Weird Sister's spell. The ol "Eye of Newt, toe of frog", like the casting of a spell, but for modern times. Just when you think Metallica is beyond bad ass, you look closer and the bar is raised further.

Lo and behold. I had no idea that this gem lay hidden in the dogturd that is REload... This is deep, bleak stuff, quite arty, actually. I love it. This reminds me of so many dark moments in my life... James' vocals are just perfect.
When you look at just metallica yeah it is bad, but oh boy when you look at the bigger picture you are just picking out the worst in the best of the best.
The issue with these two albums and this era of the band's history isnt that they're bad albums, it's that there's a lot of filler on them. If they'd condensed and included the best 10 to 12 songs it would have been a masterpiece. Alas, we have 2 mediocre albums.

This is probably the deepest song they ever did. Bleeding Me, Outlaw Torn, Until It Sleeps, and Fixxxer. The big four of the gut-wrenchers James wrote. Maybe Unforgiven 1 and 3, I'll put them up there too. But those 4 are untouchable.

I wouldn't say that Load is their worst album, but it also isn't their best. I like it a lot, but for me, AJFA surpasses it in a lot of ways.

One of the the most mind boggling lyrics ever, when I was a kid. Things started to become clearer the older I got. The "Blood for Face, Sweat for Dirt, Three X's for the Stone" bit has always been so profound to me, that I took my user name from it. Brilliant & underrated, the whole damn album.
I think this track is the best on the album although Fuel, Memory remains, Unforgiven 2 and Low man's lyrics are also pretty good

Lo and behold. I had no idea that this gem lay hidden in the dogturd that is REload... This is deep, bleak stuff, quite arty, actually. I love it. This reminds me of so many dark moments in my life... James' vocals are just perfect.
When you look at just metallica yeah it is bad, but oh boy when you look at the bigger picture you are just picking out the worst in the best of the best.
The issue with these two albums and this era of the band's history isnt that they're bad albums, it's that there's a lot of filler on them. If they'd condensed and included the best 10 to 12 songs it would have been a masterpiece. Alas, we have 2 mediocre albums.

This is probably the deepest song they ever did. Bleeding Me, Outlaw Torn, Until It Sleeps, and Fixxxer. The big four of the gut-wrenchers James wrote. Maybe Unforgiven 1 and 3, I'll put them up there too. But those 4 are untouchable.
