you dont even learn how to do visual effects in college, at least as long as you dont do a VFX course. in college you learn by far more important things, learning such easy effects is consider to be done in your free time, when you are in college, at least in germany.

I'm working on a promotional video for a school program I help run, and we'd like to produce something like a movie trailer (the theme of the summer course is based on Harry Potter). But I run into problems when I try to fit all the pieces together... workflow, the creative process, storyboarding things... do you have any advice on this topic?
What if you need to use more than just two film clips. AE will do the matte for the first, then NEVER restore the initial setting...because it's funnier that way or something.
this tutorial looks easy but my after effects seems to be closing once i start playing with keyframes. what seems to be the cause?? or what kind of system would you recomend works best with after effects.?
So...if the Screen Option isn't there??? Then what? It'd be helpful if Adobe kept their effects menu universal and similar throughout operating systems, but they are a greedy corporation...so some of what you have in this video isn't in Adobe After Effects CS6 on Windows...because THAT would make sense and not piss off the consumers.

the problem is that you pbly created an adjustment layer instead of a solid layer. So, you just need use the solid layer for fractal noise

It's mainly because when you try to utilise the graphic card using the feature, the software doesnt know what to do, so, it crashes.
