I still have the ones I got from Reporter Store that you hipped me/us a few years ago. Thank you TB. AND I watched the Podcasting 101 Creator Roundtable that you were on with Bandrew of Podcastage and Luria from LiveStreamingPros with B&H. And I just happen to be subbed to all 3 of you and all three of you done a good job. In my opinion you don't give yourself enough credit for your accomplishments and the valuable information you've given to all of us that listen to you my friend. And B&H was the perfect platform for this. I'm old enough to remember when B&H was just B&H Photo then later added video then finally pro audio. They used to send out their catalog via mail (like everyone else!) and I'd order lens filters and colored gels from them as well as D-76 and C-41 Kodak chemicals to process my negatives prior to the digital age.
Wow, thank you! I had to take a screenshot of this to remind myself of what you said. 🙏 And I DO remember getting the phone book sized B&H catalog a few times per year and drooling over everything in it 😁
Thanks Tom! I bought the reporter store option for my podmic and do have to say although it looks awesome I was disappointed with how well it rejected plosives and filtered high frequencies. Holding it up to the light I could see through the top of the screen. Although I didn’t like how the rode ws2 looked as well it is a much denser material that does a much better job rejecting plosives and taming the high end for those curious about using these on a podmic. Now that Rode released the podmic specific windscreens those are an excellent option as well that in my case shape the sound much better in my opinion.
@@tombuck no worries! I like to play and experiment it just wasn’t my favorite. Appreciate everything you do, you’re an inspiration and I’m always excited to check out your new videos when they drop.
Great video Tom! I've heard of the Reporter Store through you and then ordered a custom windscreen with my own logo. Their support is top notch, and since I'm based in Europe I feel comfortable to use their services again 😊

Hey Tom, new subscriber here. I found you looking for podcasting gear and feel better prepared to make my first purchase thanks to you. Great presentation style, energy and obviously very knowledgeable. I’ve been binge watching you and your wife! Thanks for being out there!

15:37 i love the colors. I used all black mic cables for so long -standard because there are less visible to a live audience on-stage. I still use a black one for my stomp box. Everything else, though, is wireless, so I use blue cables and channel colors for my vocals, green for my guitar -both coming from wireless receivers in my “rack”- and the aforementioned black cable from the bass mic on my stomp box. Perhaps, someday, it will be wireless and colorful, too. 😊🎤🎙️
@@tombuckthe past several years, I use my stage gear as stage craft. So, my rack, full of my cables, mixer, and wireless receivers, is homemade, using heavy basswood for strength and low weight. With a colorless, light urethane finish, it looks like I’m using wood crates. So, they just look like props sitting next to me. They match the stomp box I stand and tap on. The only thing I kinda camouflage is that bass mic cable.
@@tombuck let’s be honest, 90% of the “strat” sound comes from the neck pickup anyway. I always preferred the HSS configuration because the bridge single coil on SSS sound too piercing.. in my opinion, you did the right thing putting a humbucker in the bridge. It will give you much more flexibility playing both live and in the studio 👍
Great video Tom! Question for you…what kind of bridge pick up do you have on your strat? Did you install that yourself or did it come with the guitar? Anyways, love the videos!
It's a Seymour Duncan Hot Rails! It's a 50's Strat, but the sound was a little too soft/vintagey for me, so I replaced it. Definitely goes against the 50's "vibe", but it's basically a single coil sized humbucker so it's perfect for a lot of the pop punk stuff I like to play. 😁
Hey Tom, do you have a suggestion where to find a new windscreen for the new Rode Interview Pro? I 've searched all over Reporterstore but couldn't find what I needed. Thank you and thanks for all the content.
I've been using one of these that I originally bought for my Sennheiser MD46 and it works great on the Interview Pro: www.reporterstore.com/windshields/handheld/windshield-fc1906-fl
Haha, I've tried making custom ones in the past but it's never worked out. Although it's pretty wild when you see ones from tv studios in real life and see how faded/beat up they are yet they look totally fine on camera!
Rode sent out some colored pads last year, but they seem to have been just a limited edition thing for fun and not something that's for sale (which is sad because I'd definitely love more and I'm sure others would buy them too!).

It sounds like what you're describing is some headphone latency, which shouldn't be happening on the RCP2, but I have heard some people say that they have the issue. I think it's worth reaching out to Rode's support for some tech help.
Yeah, they have that rectangular shape which isn't super common. I'm sure one of these could be pulled over it, but it probably wouldn't look super slick.
