Thank you so much, Sherry. I'm trying to find the right balance in our homeschool with my 16 year old. Praying before we start this new school year for a fresh and inspiring beginning 🙏 ❤.

Those years can be rewarding and trying at the same time--prayer is essential!

Great information. Now I’m more confident about independent learning.

This word is new to me but we have been doing something similar in our homeschool. Thank you for the reminder of not pleasing people. I'm doing better in that area but still need God to work there. Hope you have a blessed day!

I think this is a natural outcome of true homeschooling, we just needed a name for it to make it "official." Thank you for your blessings :)

I strictly limit formal academics to no more than 3 hours a day specifically to leave room for interest learning and hobbies. Free time is just as important through the high school years as it is in the elementary years. It's something I am very intentional about when choosing and planning curriculum.

Thank you so much. I think this is better than the unschooling thing, for me at least, I can never do unschooling where I live. Too many regulations.

I wanted to do this and still do. Somehow, somewhere along the way, I think we missed some of these concepts, but I'm excited to apply them and do it again the right way ❤

I feel this comes so natural to kids as long as screens are limited, there’s time for boredom and our house isn’t too chaotic (although some kids can still learn new things even amongst the chaos 😅)

I would love for you to look into Generations homeschool by Kevin Swanson and watch some of his interviews if you haven’t. I just found and it almost cried because of how he approached education-God being the frontlet and it looks amazing. He believes in waiting till highschool to introduce Homer and Hawthorne and Shakespeare because of the humanism and kids need their history to be church history and even mentioned how there is Christian content that was taken out of translations of Heidi. So in middle school those books are in there with that content back in. Anyway I love your heart and would love to know what you think. His highschool stuff looks so good. Especially the worldview one where he brings up Darwinism, Marx and Harvard.
