Trossard has to take responsibility. You’re already on a yellow and then you clatter a player and smash the ball away. That’s plain stupid. And he’s one of our senior players.

Second one Trossard had about half a second after the whistle went until he made contact and was already in the process of striking the ball.

That is like blinking your eyes quickly a couple times. My point is that it's almost impossible to stop the action you initially processed your brain ro do, I.e. just getting this ball away somewhere safe.

Doku didn't kicked the ball, refree wanted the ball to be taken back which doku did. A silva kicked the ball because there was a sub. And if u talk about last season, odegard handled the ball inside liverpool box, no pk was awarded. Stop crying and move on.

Thoughts as a city fan:
Yes it's a red. Yes, other players (Doku for example) should've been booked however it is a red.
I, and most city fans, are not celebrating a point - we are relieved with a point given the circumstances. However, it's the same problems from last season. Defensive mistakes, can't break down teams who sit back and don't take our chances in big games.

I like Julian, and I get what he means Trossard on yellow should know better after the Rice incident. But taking the moral high ground when the rule is not being applied in the game identically to both squads is were the problem lies. Pointing that out and discussing it does not absolve Trossard at all.

Can't find any footage of the action , but in real time it looked like trossard was in the process of clearing the ball as the ref blew, and simple continued the momentum of his movement to clear the ball. For example can it be a booking if a ref blows for a foul but the ball is in the air and a player heads it away regardless, because mentally hes in that zone, and its hard to switch of. In other words was trossard kicking the ball away to stop a quick free kick or was he completing a defensive action regardless of the refs wistle.

Check today's game between Lyon - Marseille. Marseille had a player sent off in 5th min, were a 0:1 down in 2nd half and still managed to win 2:3 :O :/ ... a bit similar.

Trossard didn't kick the ball to delay the restart but rather kick the ball at the direction of Martenelli because in his mind he thought he has won the challenge. It was so instantaneous, it's just a natural reaction. It was probably less than a second between referee blowing the whistle and him kicking the ball.
PGMOL has even retracted their early tweet about the incident

@Chapman1886 Doku's case differs from that of Trossard who fouled silver and at the same time kicked the ball away at the sound of the whistle. Beside the kicking of the ball away, Trossardcs foul on Silver alone, is worth a second yellow card

The decision was for passing after the whistle, not the foul and the half was ending, so why give a card there? And Rice got a red card for less, so, as always, City's rivals get hit by phantom calls that don't apply to them.
Trossard didn't kick the ball away, he passed to Martinelli less than a second after the whistle. We know you don't care about fairness having to turn your argument inside out and still failing to be consistent. Michael Oliver would be proud.
