Omg I have never thought about making beautiful floating arrangements. Wow such a beautiful idea. They came out gorgeous! Your camellia collection is inspiring
Omg I love making them so much. Honestly it’s this experience that is just so relaxing and creative- more than a normal vase style. They bring me so much happiness ❤️
Stellar Sunrise is amazing! Roma Risorta is really beautiful! Love the historical camellias! I had Jacks at my old house. Got a new one for my new garden yesterday! Love Jacks!! Thanks for the tour!!
I think that you have a good collection of March-blooming plants; I'm planning to grow all of those things too. I already grow forsythia which, this year, here in central MD., is just beginning to bloom.
What a beautiful camellia tour! I just discovered the amazing selection from Camellia Forest Nursery… I’m new to zone 7b and was so sad to be advised to wait till spring for in-ground planting 😭. In the meantime, I’m starting my collection in pots to overwinter in my garage until spring. Any tips to preparing my morning sun/afternoon shade bed for spring camellias? I’ll have room for 5 specimen shrubs ❤️
Yes, I am growing a Mango Tree from the fruit of my fathers Mango Tree in memory of him. It set fruit for the first time this year after 5 years! I have grand baby mangos!!! Can you grow Camelia's from hardwood cuttings?
Jacks is very very pretty. I bought one too. What is the name of the 3 beautiful red ones in the flower pot at the end of the video. I would like to know the name so that I can buy it. Sooooo beautiful!
@Brie Thanks to your videos (I finally caught yours and Jim's with the camellia madness bracket!) I'm going to buy a Jacks for my east-side, morning-sun-only foundation bed. I know you've got yours next to your house--how far from the foundation do you recommend planting a Jacks? Thanks so much for your fabulous videos!
Oh that’s great! I’d say at least 4’ away from the house. They can get big overtime! Mind have been planted ten years and I’m starting to regret my placement.
Hi Brie, great video! I've recently become enamored with Camellias. I'm a fairly proficient houseplant and vegetable gardener. Any tips for growing Camellias in containers? Thanks!
No I love sasanquas but they aren’t blooming now. I’ve been increasing my collection of those too. I’ll share a tour if that collection when they bloom in the fall. As for Zone 6 white varieties I love April Snow.
I am going to pick up 5 pots of camellia next week from a seller. I live in Maryland zone 7a. Should I plant them right away since I have heard people say because the room temperature is high and inside the house is very dry because of the heat, some camellia died. Please let me know what soil do I need to buy from Homed Depot. Thanks
I cant recommend any soil from home depot. I would use anything they sell. Look for something that is compost not top soil. In your climate you are probably better off stashing the camellias in the garage (cool but not frozen environment) and make sure they stay watered. Considering the cold temps I would not plant them until it gets consistently warmer outside.
@@BrieThePlantLady Thanks a lot for your help. Will do! I will leave them in the basement since I do not have a garage. The basement doesn't have a lot of sunlight though. Yours are beautiful. If I am right, one of your dark pink one is Jack which I have just ordered,. feel very excited.
@@BrieThePlantLady thank you! I am planning to buy my first camellia and even though I seen a lot from big box store, it's not that spectacular. Thank you for showing this and for sure I will get Jacks among the fee.
i'm a fan of these plants but i would not buy more than 2, because they are pretty sensitiv for lize and because of that also for mold; called sooty mold , which can only be removed with water and a sponge .
and be carefull with feeding Camellia to much is alot brunches but much less flowers also alot pruning will give less flowers , best is the prune them each year a little if you need to
Thank you for sharing. I've just planted mt first Camellias. Can't wait for them to thrive!

A great way to display cherry blossoms too.

You are welcome!! Thank you for the compliment!!
Enjoyed the tour. I have six camellias in my garden.❤️
Love the floating arrangement. Thanks
Wao! What natural scenes with beautiful flowers.
Lost all of our blooms from the ice here in Dallas. Luckily the camellias we have look to be hanging in there. Thank you for the amazing tour!
Hi Brie, you just started the new revolution of floating arrangements, so beautiful!

No fall is a much better time for planting! I’d wait until November.

So awesome love your videos!!!
Thank you so much!
Hello Brie-such beautiful camellias-how long after you planted in the ground the one/two quart Lemon glow did it start to flower? Thank you!
The lemon glow actually bloomed in its pot, but it bud blooms every year.

I love Camellia, bought 2 but planted in pot. I don't know my soil type.

I’m gonna try the most cold hardy camellia, and give them a shot in zone 6a.
Yes! April rose is a great one for zone 6a!
Hi Brie, great video! I've recently become enamored with Camellias. I'm a fairly proficient houseplant and vegetable gardener. Any tips for growing Camellias in containers? Thanks!
Grow in pine bark! They really benefit from acidic, well drained soil.
Just wondering how much sun they get. I have 4 and am trying to figure out where to plant them
More shade than sun. 4 hours of sun would be sufficient
@@BrieThePlantLady Thankyou
How much sun does your jacks get?
Not much in winter. It’s in the north side of the house. It gets about ( hours if sun in the summer when the sun is higher in the sky.
Oh! How long does a floating arrangment last?
It depends on temperatures. With colder temps they can last 2 weeks. With this frost free forecast probably 4-5 days.
Was it an optical illusion, or is the lemon glow planted too close to the tree? Will it need extra summer watering?
It’s probably too close but this is a swamp so no water needed.
Do you prune the Camelias? If so, when and how would you do it?
So far my plants haven’t needed to be pruned but you would time it for AFTER they bloom- usually April/ may - before they start flushing new growth.
Enjoyed greatly. Are the sasanqua's inferior to the japonica? Any white Camelias that are cold hardy you like? THANK YOU.

Do you remove the seed pods?
No I do not.
Are most of them available at Camellia Forest Nursery?
Yes I bought all of these from CFN

I like Little Babe but is for zone 7b and above, I am in 7a :(
I bet if you plant it close to your house it would do okay 👌
