I went to a fair at the weekend, there was a Thai Street Food Stall there and the cheapest thing they sold was a tiny bowl of fried rice with a few peas in it for £11.50... decided to give it a miss and bought a lovely sandwich from Aldi for £1.19... I was so proud of myself 😀 Hate being ripped off😡
A very fair point regards the buildings. I must admit the last time I had food in Wetherspoons it was very cheap , but very poor . Perhaps they have improved ?
when supermarkets opened in the 60's they lured people with cheap prices until over time they decimated all competition, Now they charge whatever they want.
Unbelivable being charged £10.50 each for entrance to that 'festival' it's akin to paying to enter a shopping mall. I reckon that once a week James, you, or Helen, should have a 'Rant of the week' feature on the channel. The way this country is going I'm sure you wouldn't be short of material! Anyway, thanks for another fun and entertaining video....All the best to you both.
As a local I can only apologise for these tourist trap events, we never go to these as it over priced tat. It's designed to get the middle aged middle class ladies to overpay for artisan crafts. On a normal Saturday that field is used for parkrun and kids football.. glad you found the real heart of the town.
Loved this vlog because Harrogate is our favourite place and we try to get there as often as possible. Little Ale house and starlings cafe bar are our favourite places 😊
Thank you for capturing a fair bit of Harrogate. You strolled along a part of The Stray close to our house along the Empress Roundabout where we lived 22 years ago. It's so nice to see what's new (Winter Garden) and what's still there (Betty's Tea Rooms). Back then the Cattlemen's Grill was called the Cattlemen's Association. Great to see that that they're still serving tasty steaks.
I am new to your channel, love it. I had a neighbour who was from Barnsley and you remind me of him, never lost his accent and he had lived down south for years, he was my best mate.
Great video once again. So glad we didn't go to the food festival. As for the cattlemans been many times. Looking forward for your next trip. Love to Helen.
Totally with you on this. Same here in Cornwall and it's getting out of control. You are basically paying a substantial fee just to enter a trade show. Usually a really crap one too. You are also charged extortionate amounts for food and drink. The traders should take the hit on the cost of setting themselves up on the venue and promoting their products with discounted prices for the day and getting repeat business from this. After all, it's usually an annual event. It should be a business marketing expense. The Royal Cornwall show is an event I have boycotted years ago for this very reason. It's not just because I am a tight 50 plus year old grumpy Yorkshireman either!
You are the best of the 100 and something van life and wildcamping channels i subscribe to, Definately a game changer on you tube, Harrogate looked awesome, Have been to Knaresborough a few times over the years and enjoy a few tiples there, Brill vid love that you keep it real
Did anyone else notice, at the salt stall, Helen marking a vote both for and against their new salt? "I like em both" 😆🙃 Really enjoy the channel, keep it up
Its great that Spoons, nice beer garden too. We stayed in the Travel Lodge next to it and parked our car at the back of the pub. There's a good blues bar near Betty's Teas and although Harrogate can be a bit expensive and snobby its a lovely atmosphere and place for a mooch round. Helen looked gorgeous in all white James... maybe one day she'll be in that all white dress? Best wishes and thanks for the entertainment! ❤
Fantastic channel and as I've always said on here.... Let's get these two their own programme! 21 quid to walk into a field is robbery mate. Keep up the superb entertainment.
Enjoyed this as I live in Harrogate. If you ever come back, you can park for free on St James Drive on the Stray - quite a few campervans in the summer months and a much shorter walk 😅
All those "sort of things" are like that these days. We were in Galway the other day and Mrs spots an art festival - there was no jeffing art it was about sixteen food stalls with over priced burgers.
You guys crack me up me and my husband love your videos we was saying you would have been better off putting a couple of quid in busking box and getting 6 pints at weatherspoons with what they charged to get in there lol we are camper vaners to and we wouldn’t pay that either lol keep up the good content guys you are amazing ❤😊
@@bythecurb yeah I don’t think they get enough credit and all these fancy fancy poxy places that want to charge you a tenner for a burger 🍔 lol sod that I’m a Yorkshire lass and I’m tight I was thinking the twenty odd quid to get in there would have got me about 6 pints 🍺 ha ha
Brilliant video mate, I always really enjoy the park the van up and have a mooch around for the day videos, shame about being fleeced at that “festival” 😂
Awesome, a Bluetti! I had to look up Stilton, I didn't know it was an English blue cheese. I'll be going through Las Vegas tomorrow so I will think of the 2 of you getting married at the Elvis Chapel. Thanks for sharing the day and dinner with us. Helen, it looks like you're ready for anything with all you carry in your bag. Take care you two.
Pork Pie with Stilton and Pimms quaint essential british in Harrogate 🏴🏴🏴 Thank goodness for Wetherspoons 😂 excellent video you two loved it ❤❤❤ The perfect blend of the best and the worst. Keep it up xx
Southport Food and Drink Festival was over the first weekend in June this year. Free entry........and there's a Wetherspoons five minute walk away! Helen's smile should be available on the NHS.
Never mind the steak. I’m English but live in Mexico and finding any kind of pork pie or even sausage roll is impossible here. Watching you guys eat English classics makes me jealous 😂
Yes you was robbed at that food festival! Where do they get off charging for that, I'm not surprised you were upset . So funny seeing you both, especially Helen, get ever so slightly squiffy😂
Brilliant wat a awesome day out you two never fail to make me smile ..Helen Yr amazing ..you both are such a lovely couple loved the end lol the depths of a woman's handbag 😂❤ xx

Arh my favourite kind of video from you guys, although I watch and love them all, and Helen at the end with her bag of tricks again made me chuckle, girl after my own heart 😂
As a Harrogate lad born and bread I can tell you that the food fair you visited was on land known as the Stray .The green parkland around town centre was left to the common people of Harrogate as a public space .I’m pretty sure that as such you shouldn’t of had to pay a fee to enter . I’m Disgusted and ashamed that you was charged .sadly Harrogate council is run by a bunch of toffs who don’t have the true towns people best at heart .Glad to say I moved away and wouldn’t go back .Great videos from two proper lovely Yorkshire tikes ,keep em coming 👍😉

Great vlog again. That band were very good. As for food festivals, I agree. Have you been to "farmers' markets" where you can meet marmalade and chutney farmers? 🙂
Wetherspoons Harrogate is in part of what was The Royal Baths, if you had ventured around the other side of the building you would have found Royal Baths Chinese Restaurant. amazing food in an amazing setting

Brilliant video, reminds me of the country show we went to last year, ladies trying to sell us homemade jam at £6.50 a jar, tiny block of cheese (three bites) from a fiver and individual chocolates being sold at £2 each or six for the bargain price of a tenner................Ermmmm, no love, I'm a Yorkshireman, you'll have to get up earlier than that to catch me out.

I've just said he should do one and if he doesn't like it he should raffle it off to us lot at £10 a number ! I'm definitely in for a couple of numbers 😂.
I thought you were eyeing up that yellow van as a possible trade up? JUST KIDDING! 🙂 Great video, you both looked happy and relaxed. Beautiful day. You walk such a lot, do you actually know how many miles you cover? 🤔
Another brilliant vlog, love watching your adventures. As a real ale drinker, it'd be great if you told us what the beer is you drink (name and brewery) in each pub.
'Fat Tony's' lol 😂 I heard a rumour that Churchill gave a speech from that semi circle as you go down the first set of stairs in Wetherspoons. It had seating there when we visited.
You mentioned wheat beer. Having helped Hoegaarden remain in business for over 30 years, as a consumer, perhaps a vlog tasting some soughtafter brews locally might work. The Commercial in Chapeltown, Sheffield served Hoegaarden, but not been there for 20 years!
Strange you should mention getting married in Vegas. My son and daughter in law got married by Elvis in Vegas. We watched at home on a live link. Drinking Asti whilst wearing my wedding fascinator.
'They' seem to be confused about what the word "festival" means! We pay a big price to help pay for the bands that are right up our street, and amenities NOT for a single small band and lots of stalls (who have probably paid quite a lot for their pitch) where on earth is the value for money there??? I think your rant was well deserved. I wouldn't have blamed you if you had asked an official that question ⁉️⁉️ That meal at the cattlemen's grill looked delicious! My mouth is still watering 😀 Cheers

Wetherspoons as a company have restored and preserved hundreds of buildings that would have ended up lost so I am a fan.
Yes. Me too
