Being English, I've never particularly liked people from outside of the UK interfering with British politics because it's not appropriate (as it was not appropriate for our Labour party to get involved in the US elections). That being said, this matter deserves external scrutiny because it's not been addressed, has been actively & deliberately supressed in corporate media and both of our main political parties are responsible for that happening. It's also showing that the model of multiculturalism (as opposed to expecting people who settle here to become part of the British culture and values) has thoroughly failed us all as it's pushing our cultural values aside in favour of other ones.

I have mixed feelings about all this. While i think that elon buying twitter was a good thing at the time, i think him being in the US government is a conflict of interest in regards to his ownership of the website. Imo, it's in the interest of everyone for social media websites to be politically neutral, and that is not possible when a member of the US government owns it, regardless of Elon's intentions. You also have to think that it's not just the US, other nations also use the website. This will further push legacy media, politicians and the like away from where they can be scrutinized, as they don't want to be seen as supporting a political website. I can only hope this doesn't start an international trend where media changes hands depending on who is on the government. I get that a lot of people in this sphere like Elon, but you gotta be consistent. We don't want media to be controlled by **any** one side. That leads to discrimination and stagnation. I say this seeing all major TV channels in my country being effectively controlled by our leftist government and lying and hiding the truth on purpose like the media in NA.

Being English, I've never particularly liked people from outside of the UK interfering with British politics because it's not appropriate (as it was not appropriate for our Labour party to get involved in the US elections). That being said, this matter deserves external scrutiny because it's not been addressed, has been actively & deliberately supressed in corporate media and both of our main political parties are responsible for that happening. It's also showing that the model of multiculturalism (as opposed to expecting people who settle here to become part of the British culture and values) has thoroughly failed us all as it's pushing our cultural values aside in favour of other ones.

I have mixed feelings about all this. While i think that elon buying twitter was a good thing at the time, i think him being in the US government is a conflict of interest in regards to his ownership of the website. Imo, it's in the interest of everyone for social media websites to be politically neutral, and that is not possible when a member of the US government owns it, regardless of Elon's intentions.
You also have to think that it's not just the US, other nations also use the website. This will further push legacy media, politicians and the like away from where they can be scrutinized, as they don't want to be seen as supporting a political website. I can only hope this doesn't start an international trend where media changes hands depending on who is on the government.
I get that a lot of people in this sphere like Elon, but you gotta be consistent. We don't want media to be controlled by **any** one side. That leads to discrimination and stagnation. I say this seeing all major TV channels in my country being effectively controlled by our leftist government and lying and hiding the truth on purpose like the media in NA.
