How to Catch Shad Using Your Panoptix and Keep them Fresh and Alive for Striper Fishing!

Catching bait can sometimes be a bigger challenge of catching fish! Fortunately, the Panoptix is as effective at helping catch bait as it is helping catch fish! Don't just blind cast where you think shad might be, use your Panoptix to "know before you throw" and only throw your net when there are shad in the water!
Keeping your bait fresh and alive is the key to catching fish, finicky striper will not hit shad that are sluggish or have red noses. Fresh bait is key and change your bait often to maximize success! First and foremost, never catch shad and put them straight in your tank. Use a bucket to allow the shad to purge for a few seconds to get rid of the scales, slime and feces that build up during the catch.
Second, use a quality tank and filter. I use a Greyline tank with a three stage filter (filter material, larger substrate and charcoal) but have used a Moeller with a keep alive filter as well.
Lastly use salt and ice to slime up the fish and keep them fresh in the summer heat!
