This was done in a studio and the version released on records at the time,but it wasn't how Bobby Hatfield wanted to sing the song,he was finally able to do that in 1965 when The Righteous Brothers appeared on the tv variety show Andy Williams,he got to sing it the way he wanted which is also the most famous version to this day,there is a live 1965 version on TH-cam of him singing this beautiful song along with his beautiful vocal version.

FYI "The orchestra feel of the music" is producer Phil Spector's Wall of Sound style. He would have 4 pianos, 4 back up guitars, 3 drumers all playing this song independently and then overlay the tracks. It drove other music producers crazy trying to copy this sound because simply turning up the volume leads to sound distortion. Bill Medley successfully copied this Wall of Sound when he produced The Righteous Brothers later albums. (He was paying attention).
