- Craftivist Shannon Downey aka Badass Cross Stitch, speaks to white women about the often under-explored complexities of living in a society as both oppressed (as women) and oppressors (as white folks). In an unexpectedly humorous talk, Shannon shares a story of a moment in a grocery store that forced her to rethink her feminism. She speaks to the history of white supremacy in the feminist movement and how she believes this new wave of feminism will succeed so long as it is intersectional. In true form, Shannon hand-stitched all of her visuals and uses them to surprise, shock, amuse, and reinforce her message.

You are probably new to the planet. But the bar codes are a very old tech. There were computers too, and the internet, there were also entitled assholes who would come up with something cheeky thinking that they have embarrassed a woman who was trying to be rational, smart, and intelligent.

The gender wage gap. You mean the earnings gap? If I got up on that stage and demonstrate mathematically how manager Karen in HR, with the higher hourly wage can make less money at the end of the year than Bob, on the loading dock because Bob works OT, how many brains would implode?

I thought maybe just maybe when she brought up the "wage gap", that she was going to tell the whole truth about it, like the fact that the wage gap exists not because women are being paid less, but because the statistics its coming from dont include job worked, hours worked or experience that net you a higher salary. All they did was take this age range of women and their average salary and this age range of men and their average salary and compare the two. And those numbers are gathered from men and women that work all different types of jobs. They intentionally left out the fact that the reason why the mens pay range was higher is because of the job they hold, and the hours they work. The statistics ARE NOT comparing a man and a woman with the exact same job and experience working the same number of hours. If they were and the man was paid more then there would be a wage gap. But they aren't. They are leaving out facts to make an argument about something that doesn't exist.
It's nice to see the left has moved on from vilifying just white men and moved on to white women as well.
I'm sure videos like this will keep Trump out of the White House in 2020.

Your latent neurosis seeks out race and gender, oppression and oppressor in the simplest of situations like people being impatient in lines at stores. That is pretty sick.
Ladies when you take feminism with you out into your normal day you leave your Magic behind, you see there is a time and a place and you feministic girls just are not getting it. You are born with the gift of understanding, most of you anyway and men are only to happy to bow before you when you know how to use it. Yes this is your magic and you can make kings of men in the moment any time you choose and when you do this they will gladly bow to you in what ever form you choose..But you can not be ever less than a woman and preferably a Lady. Grace Patience and understanding because you see women are the teachers of the world and they teach understanding and understanding is not a lesson void of these qualities. If on the rare occasion there is a time for the extreme things must return back to balanced understanding quickly or the momentum gained by extreme will be quickly lost. To believe you have less power is illusion as you actually contain more but you must always remember a men can forge forward with failure and success and arrive still clean where as a woman can not, this is a fact of nature for if she should miss her bit she would break her jaw. I am one one of those few white men that actually has understanding and i can tell you the women that are getting it right are moving by their hearts and know when to fight stand kneel and rule and if you don't accept this your own Magic is a mystery to you because the truth is men don't really see you as competition they just want your affection and you actually have the upper hand. Just don't make the common mistake of challenging them on their own ground, they don't really have anything to personally loose, you do.
