The Foxhole style of games set in Medieval era is something I didn't know I needed until now. I'm also still wondering where that Napoleonic wars version of this game is.
Napoleanic era game would have been better. All they need to do really is take notes from the mount and blade mods - you can integrate AI in by having X number of them follow the commands of a player; easy to scale up the fights.
Meh I always knew I wanted a large scale war all driven by players. But between servers not being able to handle over 128 players in general as the norm and no one willing to extensively design a game around it, it really wasn't a thing until Foxhole finally made it a thing.
I find it hilarious that everyone was calling the guy that called the raid off a moderator, while he was standing there saying he was just a random guy lol.
This reminds me of the early days of DayZ and Rust early access in 2013. The games were janky af, super buggy but extremely fun. This reminds me a lot of that. I hope the full game still captures that fun, they seemed to have nailed it well in anvil
This game looks just like Foxhole but with a medieval theme. Is it developed by the same studio (Clapfoot/Siege Camp)? (edit: Just checked and it is in fact developed by the same studio! Was wondering why both games looked so similar)
@@RedDonut Imo I think AI would actually be even better for this game so you can have even larger battles For example: AI be peasant levies or something while real players act as knights commanding them :D
cool stuff start is at @7:01, shield wall at @9:35, slaughter @11:23 i really love the "laggy" animation of character, like a Age of Empire anim style. I think Anvil will beat foxhole in term of player base because war and combat feel better imo. be able to talk to the enemy is awesome
@@trikra2609 no it's because foxhole is run on an older engine that can't handle 250 players being on the same voip system. Anvil has a completely new engine tailor made for mass multiplayer
You can build pretty much anywhere, but not to close to any towns. And yes there is Faction lock to prevent griefing, since people would do faction jumping, opening gates, despawning things etc. Not sure if there will be guild v guild
@@ChillzKent The only reason Foxhole doesn't have cross team voice chat is because it is run on an older engine. If the devs figure out a way to make it work and stable they'll reemplement it to foxhole aswell
yea man you know whats funny. That bard in our town came from another settlement, where we killed a bear to protect there town in return they awarded us materials to make a boat so that we can sail back home. We brought him with us :'D
They already did a test on there engine years ago and it hit almost 1k players. And there game foxhole has i think 500 players in a region. This lag and issues is simply being pre alpha issues. When i was playing i didnt see this lag so much so it could be a pink issue too maybe since its just the 1 server.
If it's like foxhole, it will have a tech tree. You start Foxhole in Pre-WW1 era weapons (Rifles, and grenades) and as tech unlocks, you get upgrades, Machine guns, AT rifles, Armored Cars, all the way up to WW2 Era weaponry. I imagine this will be the same.

yes it is very fun and yet people are requesting to add "AI" defenses in game. It ruined the fun in Foxhole so I hope they won't do it in this game
the earliest rust stuff was actually played in browser with the unity player. it was very wonky

It has a different approach. There's no AI unlike foxhole so you're fighting enemies face to face
