Robin, you are so good at doing these tutorials! My mother taught me crochet when I was a teen and I happily crocheted for a few years, then it got sorta ignored for decades. Now, in my forties I picked it up again and your videos have gotten me in touch with newer styles and techniques coz you make it so easy to understand and follow along. I have made so many things after watching your tutorials (lot of them for my mother) 😅 Thank you again, for all you do.
“Ever so slight squidge” is probably my new favorite expression. I’m going to figure out how to incorporate it into conversation. 😄 Thanks for another great, clear tutorial! 🥰🧶
Robin, you have become my go-to library for crochet stitches. Thank you for your clear instructions and up close filming of your hands. So easy to follow along.
❤hello Robin. Another wonderful tutorial ❤️. I follow and learn so very much from these tutorials. Oh by the way I absolutely adore your nails. They are always just beautiful.
I used this stitch for making dishcloths this year for Christmas gifts (I normally Tunisian crochet them). My sister liked that it still had a bit of texture to it. LOVE the nails too 😉❤️
Hello, i'm french and i understand few words, but you are a very good teacher and i like your so beautiful works. Thank you for all. Sorry for my english.
USA here 🤗 learned this as the “lemon peel” stitch. But I love hearing it with your accent! I have however, heard it called the “griddle stitch” also. I absolutely love ❤️ this stitch and have many afghans made with this stitch!
I'm in the middle of making a single stitch couch blanket for myself. The first awesome stitch you taught me. Now I think I can maybe incorporate this stitch for some variety. Thank you! ❤
Going to be my next blanket as it's too pretty to be a dishcloth. Currently making a blanket with a sc and dc in the same stitch then sk 1 and so on. Lovely and the work is nice and straight. The gridle stitch is definitely next. Love your videos so thanks for sharing.
I just love your tutorials! I always want to try everything. I gifted my sister with a Popcorn Flower blanket that she absolutely adores. Used a variegated yarn of pastel greens, purple, yellow and pink with soft pink boarders. Making another Popcorn Flower for myself in the original colors. Thank you very much!
Watched the video to learn this lovely pattern.. halfway in I realise it's literally the same pattern I'm using to crochet a scarf while I'm watching 😂
Found your tutorial looking for the griddle stitch. I subscribed to your channel due to the great tutorial you did. I am going to use this stitch to make an afghan. Thank you for the wonderful tutorial.
Just found your channel yesterday, and subscribed. I have crocheted most of my life, but am still really a beginner. If it's not a basic stitch and it's not a rectangle... forget it. 😉I just don't learn that well from books, I guess. However, your tutorials are amazing!! I have already completed a huge sample of this stitch, it is my new favorite. Thanks so much for the clear instruction!! I look forward to trying several other stitches that I previewed while doing this sample - the mini bean is too cute!! I have many channels that I have subscribed to, but this tutorial is the one that got me to pick up hook and yarn again. Can't wait to (finally) learn more.
That's a very pretty stitch, with good texture. Your right, would make good Face or Dish cloths. Like your Nail colour too. TFS Robin, & take care too. ♥️🙂❤️
This looks lovely. I love how you also say which yarn you use in the video, as this was one I had looked at but was unsure how it looked worked up. Now I know and I want to order some!! PS - your nails look fab!
Hey Robin😊 So good to see a tutorial by you again! Missed you! Anyway, love the "tut" and made me giggle over your "squidge" As always Thank you! Hugs from Texas!!!!❤

Hello Robin, lovely stitch as usual. What yarn do you suggest for dishcloths please? I’ve never made my own. 🙄 Thank you for sharing your patterns, always appreciated! 💐
i swear this single/double crochet alterating pattern was called the lemon peel stitch, which you did a video on in the past. I've also seen these stitches used in houndstooth pattern, where you switch between black and white yarn each row
It is exactly the same yes! I made a fresh tutorial for it under its other name of the griddle stitch - so many stitches have differing names it can get confusing!
I was literally just looking at stitches to use for a scarf for myself. This is perfect and the yarn I'm using is quite beautiful. I'm curious though, what yarn are you using on here? Is very pretty!
Hi Robin, First let me say Love your patterns, but can you say what size needle you are using for the patterns if it's not the size required for the yarn....thank you
@HookedbyRobin thank you 😊 I'm only learning & im learning from your videos as I really love the step by step in them as I'm more hands on rather than learning from the patterns so thank you for them ❤️
This is a very tricky question to answer as there are so many variables! How much yarn you need will depend on which yarn you choose, the thickness of that yarn, your tension and how large you want your finished project to be. I suggest making a small sample first so you can gauge how much yarn you'll need. If making a crochet square, you can weigh your finished square to work out how much yarn it used!😃

This makes the best fabric for a baby blanket. Add a scalloped edge for a girl's or something other for a boy's blanket.
