You go Meg. Great job. We in the motorcycle community are so fortunate to have Jerry being so willing to share his knowledge of riding with the rest of us. I profit so much from these videos and when I practice I feel so much more confident on my bike. I would have never dared to ride like this without Jerry’s instruction and coaching.
Meg's years of gymnastics training would prepare her well for Jerry's course, because she's put her body on the line every time she stepped out on the mat. The other advantage Meg has is, she's used to being coached, and understands the dynamic that the coach's job IS to criticize your performance. Not to hurt your feelings, but to point out where you can improve, and how you can go about doing it. That's why putting your kids in youth sports is valuable throughout their whole lives.
Having Crash bars goes a long way with reducing fear. IF you don't have to worry about tearing one up, then it allows you to take risks. Going these low speeds you might get a scrape, but highly unlikely to get seriously hurt. Its one thing to do it when you don't have to pay for any damage, its another when you are putting 100% of your investment on the line. Give me $1,000 and I will take all kinds of chances in a casino, But with my own money, very few chances would I take.
You know what? If we show up at a class like this, we can take some tough love. Bring it on, Jerry - it is why we come to these events! Good teaching, you´re not even close to getting abusive. Just effective. I like it.
Yeah Jerry, ya sure have a tough job, LOL!! One thing about it, you are teaching her skills that can, and will, SAVE HER LIFE SOMEDAY!! God bless you and Donna Jerry!!
Thanks to you i got a bike again. I Live in France retired lots of nice places to go and sée. Last time i had a bike was over 40 years ago. Got my self a Kawasaki Vulcan 650 not that mad. Thanks to you i have no problèmes
I miss riding. Probably lost a lot of my skills...in the past 3 years of not riding. Cofident motorcycle riding skills are a perishable, Keep Practicing. I see this a lot in even more experienced riders, keep your feet up. The Only time your feet should touch the ground is once your bike comes to a Complete Stop.... that is a stop without a roll through... Prior to my stopping of riding (due to a great number of bad incidents from inattentive four wheel drivers), (lower New York State is not a bike friendly area), My skill set for riding my FXST was very high and constantly improving, just from paying attention to your videos and using your teachings to better my obstacle drive-arounds. The "Dip" is extremely important for tight roads, alleyways, and driving on motorbike only roads. Thank you for keeping all of us informed and up-to-date on the proper techniques of becoming great motorcyclists.

Meg picked it back up in short order. You can visibly see her confidence return as she progresses through the course. It does help to have a pro who is challenging her.
I’ve seen a bunch of Megs videos and it’s hard to tell how much she has improved in a year, but the enthusiasm is infectious and I hope inspires others to ride more… we need more people on two wheels, what better way to see America?
Meg and Michael (cameraman) are a great TH-cam creators and I believe life long friends. Her Chanel has come so far in the past year and it's great to see her with The Master! LOL! She already has great balance because of her gymnastic training. She seems to be a very competitive young lady which I think makes her fearless.
Good coaching Jerry and great advice I like the way you don't sugar coat anything you say it like it is great instructor and Megan did a great job thanks for sharing take care
if I tell people they are doing great when they aren't, who would that help? I pride myself on explaining simply, what the rider did wrong, and most important, how to correct their mistakes. And if I can make the student laugh at the same time, all the better.
Amazing how smooth baggers can be no matter what your size good job to the ladies Meg, Her two wheels and Doddle practice takes the fear away 🇺🇸🐾🍻 let’s ride
Meg’s being in great physical shape all her life is always been an advantage to her in everything she does. Yes being a gymnast all these did her great. 👍
ATENTION! As of this moment 6:35 PM E/S time 1-22-22, the Ride Like a Pro books with color Photos are sold out. If you order after 6:36 PM you will receive the Ride Like a Pro book, with black and white photos. We have sold over 150 books since this video was posted. Remember I did state in the video, ''offer good until we run out of colored books'' once we run out, you will still get your book, but the photos will be black and white.
Your final two sentences are ones that EVERY rider should heed. "Don't get aggressive on the road. Get aggressive when you're practicing." Aggressive driving is hazardous to everyone, and by aggressive I mean doing things that should be done on a track, not on public roads. High speeds, wheelies, disobeying traffic laws, etc., give good riders a bad name.
My GL1500 handles great, I have in normal riding scraped in corners (not in a scary or stupid way I promise) but when going slow it intimidates me. My fear factor is fairly low when on the road, I trust the scooter to do what it was designed to do. I will push that handlebar and will lean in the corners. On the slow maneuvers I have to learn to trust it and that is MUCH harder. Being winter here on the west side of Oregon we get cold rain. Temps in the low to mid 40's for highs, it is keeping me off the scooter most of the time. So I bought the book too. I already have the course on USB. This spring I plan to get with some friends that I ride with and spend some time in parking lots. I want to do this with them so that we all follow the same ideas when we are on the road together. Thanks for the constant encouragement and demos in these videos. If I lived in or near you I would pay you for lessons like these you did with her. My instructions to you at the beginning of the class would be to push me until I cry or I do it right. I am much more motivated to ride well than I am to cry because the teacher pushes me and wants me to succeed lol. Thank you Motorman!!
Very interesting video. I am in my mid 50s and recently decided to get back into bike riding again after a 25 year break and I was so rusty with slow and tight turns for a while. I used to ride off road mostly way back then doing trials and trail riding. She looks so tiny on that big bike, great rider!
Meg is a very good rider. Being fearless helps for sure. Gymnastics is something that has to teach you that. No fear. I remember when you said you were 6'2" last time. Her look in response was very funny.
@@motorman857 That's one of the reasons I enjoy your videos. I'm a dry humor guy myself. We need more humor with the way this country is going at the moment.
Many years ago I arrived at a motorcycle shop and outside was a nice ducati with tyre wear right up the sidewalls. A very pretty young lady came out and got on the ducati. I have a feeling she’s gonna get a touring motorcycle real soon. She seems to ride that better. I’m subscribed to her channel and I would love to see Shadetree take your course someday soon.
Shadetree is too scared to take my class. He's right down the street from me and has an open invitation. It's a straight shot and being it appears he can only ride straight, you'd think he'd be here on the spot. But as I explained in the above video, some people are just too scared. 🤣🤣
That's a good looking bike she's riding. I still struggle with getting pressure on the rear brake, and honestly, keeping enough additional RPM and not too much. I think I'm better than average, but not to the level Meg's at. I know, I know... Practice!
OK, twice I THINK I heard you mention it's a "little bit harder on her bike because of the positioning." At least, that's what I thought I heard you say. Please elaborate... is it her bar width or bar height? Is it the mid-control positioning? What is it? It seems like she can ride your bike with such grace, if I am not mistaken? If so, why? Bar and peg positioning?
