    I just got a nakii, wish I would have seen this prior. I have a missing o-ring in mine, so I may just end up purchasing a zero water filter.
    I loved y’all’s backyard demonstration! Seldom do people really put products to the test in the way you guys did.
    My feedback for future videos would be to use a measuring instrument per cup of water instead of one for all. I appreciated the fact you guys were consistent in your control sample, but I think the results may have been slightly skewed due to using the same measuring instrument in all the cups versus each cup getting it’s own.
    Another thing would be to say what you’re measuring and why it’s important to consumers.
    I buy water filters for the reasons most do- to avoid fluoride, micro plastics, and other contaminants. I’d love to see a measure of contaminates if that’s possible to do at home.
    Overall a great video and job well done

  • @SamC_
    @SamC_ 6 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    You guys should also do a taste test! I say that because you say "most people want the most filtered water". And sometimes that is the case, but I think a lot of people just want their tap water to taste better with all the bad things filtered out. Which is what I think every pitcher in this video did. I would be really curious what would happen if you did a blind taste test with 5 different cups #1-#5 and tested each other without the other person knowing whats in the cups. If you did it together, one person would know the order.. so it would be unfair

    • @essentialist310
      @essentialist310  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would be a great test! Unfortunately, we tossed out 3 of the 5 pitchers after they broke. :/ I personally have been using the ZeroWater filter since this test and I think the taste is as pure as it gets. You can't really beat a TDS of 0. Also, taste might be a little subjective, I personally like spring water and my dad hates it!

    I bought the Zero Water recently. My original tap water was a not too bad 280 PPM. The Zero Water brought it down to 008. My biggest complain about my tap water was the taste. Not good. Zero Water did the job there. My biggest complaint about Zero Water is the pitcher they give allegedly for placing the filtered water in the fridge for future use. The pitcher, especially the cap assembly, is crap. I am using a different pitcher for that purpose, pouring the filter water into it. My other complaint is that I have not been able to completely seal the screw-on filter to the small tub. It drips a bit of the tap water into the filtered water. That's probably why the reading was 008 instead of 003.

    TDS are total dissolved solids in water.
    Hardness conceits of calcium and magnesium in ground water, and yes your TDS will be high when water is hard. That said we use ion exchange to soften water (zeolite resin) to zero while still keeping our Boiler water at about 100 ppm tds.
    Any chemicals introduced into the water will raise tds, but calcium and magnesium salts make silicates which form scale need to be zero.
    I know boiler water is different then drinking water, just showing TDS is not a good indicator of water hardness.

Zero water seems like a no brainer here so I decided to read some reviews on it I've noticed complaints of fishy smelling water due to the products design. Have you heard of this? Also, do you prefer pitchers over tap filters and why?

    • @essentialist310
      @essentialist310  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Pitcher filter over tap filter, yes, definitely. Pitchers have a much stronger filter! The reviews you read about the ZeroWater filter becoming fishy when it is time to replace the filter is true. Since that ZeroWater filter survived our drop test, I personally used it for a couple weeks until the filter went bad....my whole house is hooked up to a filter so there was no need for me to buy a replacement filter for the pitcher. In conclusion, ZeroWater was the best filter and should be your choice if you are okay with buying replacement filters for it every few weeks. It will give you the best water out of the filters we tested :)

      As for Zero removing everything.... not good. From what I have read, the water is left more acidic, and when acidic water is consumed it could force the body to release essential minerals which can lead to health problems later on.
      Re: Distilled water. It doesn’t provide you with minerals like calcium and magnesium that you get from tap water. Because it doesn’t contain its own minerals, distilled water has a tendency to pull them from whatever it touches to maintain a balance. So when you drink distilled water, it may pull small amounts of minerals from your body, including from your teeth.
      Conclusion? Just drink water that has been filtered for harmful minerals/heavy metals, and that is as close to, or just above 7ph.

    You don't want to filter everything out of your water! Bacteria, Pathogens, Chemicals, of course filter those out. But you need good minerals back in or our body will become deficient. Minerals are good for you, buy alkaline water. Like Santevia. Great filter, should have been reviewed

      Zero Water is a yellow acid if you test the pH of it. This type of water can do great harm to the body, like create an ulcer. Remember acid burns through things. Now you can use this acid water mixed in with a cleaning agent to clean things.

    Then tell everyone the zero is actually the most expensive because the filters on last 1-2 weeks if you change it when they recommend. Depending how contaminated your water is to start. Even though the water at .006 is still safe the water will taste bad and smell like fish because you marinating your water through a contaminated filter. Gallon of water $.69 were I live.

      I suppose it is relative to how bad you want your water purified to a TDS of 0. If spending money for a new filter once every month or so wasn't a problem then I would definitely go with the Zero Water filter because it truly is the strongest filter. Pay for what you get I guess

    I’m new to this so please explain. What Is the goal? Water should have absolutely nothing in it? No minerals, not alkaline, not ionized? When you go to the mountains and the fresh pure water in the mountains streams untouched by man, Does that water have minerals are anything else in it❓ THE BEST WATER I HAVE EVER DRANK / TASTED WAS STRAIGHT OUT OF THE NILE RIVER IN EGYPT. Water in America taste strange. Water in the streams of Yosemite Nation park, Ca. Taste ok. . Please educate me

    • @pamgreen5324
      @pamgreen5324 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Water is to always be on the alkaline side. The water in the lakes naturally has added minerals from the rocks. If you test the pH of the Zero Water, it is a yellow acid which is very harmful to the body. Because anything that is an acid can burn through things. And no drinking water is not supposed to be totally stripped of minerals. Some totally dissolved substances are normal and healthy for the body as long as the TDS is not showing a very high level of TDS in the water.

    I really do not understand why these tests take us all around the houses, we are not scientists and all we want to know is whether the filters remove all the contaminants in the water and which of the filters will give us all the safeguards that is recommended to keep us healthy. By the time you come back to the front of the house you left me way behind trying to find out, which contaminants found in tap water, would be detriment to our health??? and which of the filters would remove all of it. I do not understand the jargon because I did not take science at school. Just come to the point. Firstly; tap water contains a, b, c and d, contaminants, which does so and so to our health etc, to d. And start to explain which one of the filters will serve us best. Why are the actual additional filters so expensive, if the product lasts for 6 years we have paid for this product 6 times over, .... £57.00 i initially, we need 12 filters per year, £132 = £792. I am 100% sure that there is a onetime filter for this product, or, which can be produced, and again the manufacturers will make sure they keep on milking the public so that they can receive billions for this one product.

    • @essentialist310
      @essentialist310  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      "Total Dissolved Solids" - It refers to any minerals, salts and metals dissolved in water. It is just a way to measure the purity of water. So we use it in this video to gauge which filter can get us closest to a TDS of 0 because that would mean that the water is then the purest. This would prove which filter is the strongest!
