Some decent information here but HDCP doesn’t just affect film. Switching between film/TV apps can cause real problems with syncing on some devices which can lead to black screens or other issues. I’ve yet to try on the PS5 but on the PS4, leaving HDCP on meant you couldn’t capture game footage at all using an external capture card.

have a similar issue in a way - the ps5 is linked to a 2.0 hdmi samsung smart led tv 60hz refresh rate and occasionally during gaming the screen goes black for a second or two then back on - would this be the cause for that as well in your opinion?
My tv is old 2016 Samsung 1080p so 2.0 connectivity, the ps5 is 2.1 and the ps5 cable is 2.1 and I'm getting hdmi 3 second black outs in game, using my ps4 that is 2.0 and the ps4 hdmi cable that is 2.0 and my tv that is 2.0 never had an issue. So I'm going to try my ps4 2.0 cable with my ps5 to see if that stops the hdmi 3 second blackouts .I've had my ps5 6 months and never had issue untill last week so a ps5 update must have cause a handshake issue?
I will try that tonight, I was playing Warzone yesterday and the screen was turning black & white then turning back on. I can still ear the sound... my children even told me it was doing that when he was watching TH-cam. I am surprised because I just purchased a TV made for PS5....XR65X90K.

Hi sir. Bought my ps5 God of war Ragnarok bundle one month ago. Recently I began noticing small tiny horizontal lines & some dots popping on the screen. This only happens when I play GOW which came with the console. Even if I posed the games & go to the home screen the small lines are still present there if the game is still running in the back ground. But as soon as I close the game the lines & dots will completely disappear & everything returns normal. Should I turn off my hdcp & does it cause such issues? My console is connected directly to my sony 55x900h via the hdmi cable which came with the console.
I noticed that also playing gow ragnarok on my Sony x90j. Sometimes it switches right away to 120hz mode and I don’t see the artifacts but sometimes like it’s hesitant to switch to 120hz mode and after a few seconds it finally does because the picture cuts out for a moment and then those artifacts seem to be gone for the most part or at least I don’t notice them while playing. Did turning off hdcp get rid of those artifacts for you?
@@DylanKosher Yes. 3 weeks since I turned hdcp off & no small lines ever seen. But as you mentioned, when those lines appeared in GOW RAGNAROK, after few seconds the screen becomes black for one second as if it is switching resolution & the lines are gone.

Howdy I have a "problem" with the TV, at least I think so. Because when I start a game on the PS5, the picture goes black for a moment. When I close the game, it goes black for a moment. If you have any solutions for this, I would be pleased. My TV: Samsung s90d 65 inches
Hi, i have a question regarding the performance i need the best performance of the ps5 so i wanted to ask if you should leave hdcp on or off on the ps5. Do you have any other tips to make the ps5 more powerful for (fps games)

TY! I called my TV and Sony tech support to figure out my flickering issues and this seemed to work. HDMI 2.0 4k 60fps Vizio hooked to my PS5, it immediately started flickering (until eventually just black screen) during initial setup. Turning off HDR has been my workaround. I turned off HDCP and HDMI link, (do those have any image benefits?) Tech support had me factory resetting my TV & PS5 to no change. ALSO! I had to change my 4k Video Transfer rate to -2 and that brought my color format to YUV420 which my TV tech said is what I was looking for. So TYVM
@@dvanerfthis5885 how old is your TV? -2 is 4:2:0 subsampling, unless you tv is pre 2016, that setting is likely wrong. Let me know what you have and I should be able to help get you dialed in correctly.
Their support is wrong if you have HDMI 2.0. Should be -1 at 4:2:2. Have you enabled full hdmi bandwidth in your TV system settings? Most tvs default all hdmi ports to 1.4 to avoid compatibility issues with older devices. That would be the only reason to use -2, if your TV was pre 2016 and stuck with HDMI 1.4.

Hi, i have a question regarding the performance i need the best performance of the ps5 so i wanted to ask if you should leave hdcp on or off on the ps5. Do you have any other tips to make the ps5 more powerful for (fps games)
This shouldn’t make any real difference as regards performance. The best advice in that regard is probably to make sure your PS5 is kept dust free and well ventilated.

So TYVM
Thanks for the -2 transfer rate tip, I couldn’t figure out why I had no hdr on my Ps5 but no problem on my Xbox series X.

I like to use the media apps on ps5, having hdcp off means I have to turn it on just to watch any media service. Plus it's affecting streaming from console, as I can only stream for twenty minutes then broadcast stops with error to server.
