First time I've watched your channel. Excellent reporting. Such a sad case. It's horrible that any of the victims were buried in the same cemetery as this evil man, let alone right across from him.
Great video. The house was right in the front in the corner and off to the left were the barn structures and in back some sheds. I have been to all these locations. No matter how hard you look you will not be able to find any pieces of the house or barn. Some people in Plainfield will talk about him, and some won't. Earlier this month I had breakfast at that coffee shop across from the Worden store, and mentioned something about Gein and they would say that several people come up there because of him
Thanks Steve! I was curious where exactly the house was. I didn’t ask anyone there about him as I’ve been told by several former visitors about the cold reception. I can’t blame them though.
@@FreyzelProductions Thanks the best pics of the property are ones of his auction. Here is a link of a home movie of the auction. th-cam.com/video/cb5O888V8JE/w-d-xo.html. I was there early September and looked and looked for pieces of the house and barn and couldn't find anything. I didn't try digging as there are most likely bodies on the property. It was interesting to see reactions when you mention his name some don't mind, but some feel uncomfortable. Probably because the town folk are considered ghouls the world over. It is hard to believe that stuff happened there, considering Plainfield is sort of a model Norman Rockwell small town type of place.
Been there many times also. I can almost confirm from aerial shots via 1957/58 and my current drone shots, the house pretty much straight back from the current gate around 45-50 feet from 2nd Ave. It sat around 75 yards from Archer Ave. Yes i agree nothing will be left of the house, what little remnants would have been taken many many decades ago, as the property has been visited by hundreds of thousands of folk like us since 1957! However, i would not be surprised if bad things were still buried there. I learned from the museum in Wautoma that a few years after Gein was arrested, the cops were called out due to a dog digging up a human femur bone. The authorities then dug up a complete skeleton minus the head(Of course). So id almost guarantee to this day many bones remain undiscovered!
Excellent!! Creepy subject for sure. I knew you would do an informative and respectable job. Geez, how completely screwed up he had to be...not to mention his mother! Thanks for this one...I've been waiting for your work on "Eddie". Glad you stayed away from the shed on his former property...we may have wondered what happened to you had you gone in and disappeared. Always wise to listen to your 6th sense...for sure when on Eddie's former property.
The shed is a hunting cabin. My Mother knew the owners of the property. His family brought the property after it was put up for auction after Geins arrest. I have stayed in the shack when I was a child. If i remember correctly the house was located about half way between the entrance driveway and the shack.
As cold and stomach churning as this case, still is even today. The more I learn. From people like yourself, making these mini docs.. About these "infermous" characters? The more I develop the view that some of these "psycho" killers were actually tragic victims of real cruelty and abuses. Punishments and violent acts themselves as children. We only see the media sensation. Nothing about them as human beings. Cold and Monstrous. Not warm blooded mortals same as ourselves. You have to look back to the the times and how harsh and poverty struck some homes and families truely were during those much more survivalist harsher and rugged times.. And how the high child mortality rate was an accepted norm.... The sensationalist media spin... And Hitchcock's arguable fixation on Gein's case. Spotlight it for the world to see. Making Perkins debut as Norman more memorably effective, perhaps than Perkins hismelf would have preferred.. Bates's character being all but , the kiss of death to the actors career after that. Infact few if anyone today would notice just what a true horror film "psycho" actually was and still is to this day! Gein's subsequent capture and the release of "Psycho"..? Was only a mere 3 years appart. Look into Bates eyes.. And tell me you don't see Gein!? That's true horror!
you drove all that way to see it in daylight?....i would have gone at night then stripped naked and ran around the property screaming.. .spanking my bare @ss....wooo hooo......what's wrong with you?
I have known about him since the 1980's as my mom told me about him, as she was from Wood county not far away, and remembers hearing about it on radio, and tv. I have been there many times, and did the same thing you are doing in this video, last year. The lady at the library was really nice.
They actually arrested Gein in the driveway of the Hills home, where Ed was having dinner that night. Earlier in the day Ed have given the Hills son Bob Jr a ride into Plainfield to buy a car battery. For doing so, the Hills invited Ed for dinner. But yes, the Hills country store was right across the street from their house. House is still there today at corner of 3rd Drive/HWY 73. Great video.
Man, if you do a video, get your info right. Mary Hogan's Bar wasn't in town. As a resident of Plainfield, my whole life, get it right!!! It's creepy. You shouldn't even be on the property. It wasn't a department store it was a hardware store.
Relax guy lol. He did pretty good job in my opinion, but yes was wrong about a few details. Im a self proclaimed Gein expert myself lol. But i have made the trip to Plainfield from Colorado 8 times now, along with hundreds of hours or research, and trips to the Washara county Museum. I know alot.. You are correct about Mary Hogans bar it sits(or sat) on corner of HWY D and Elm Rd. All thats there today is a square metal barn thingy. Most dont even know the location of the Hills home and country store, do you personally?
@359Joey it's a called a pole shed. Lol I lived next to it 1981-2000. They tore my old house down this summer. My buddy owns the old true value hardware store.
@quwacers5821 Pole shed really?Didn't think pole sheds had walls. Do you know the current owner of the property?I talked to him last summer.According to him,Mary Hogan's Tavern didn't get torn down until late 90s early 2000s.Can u confirm that?Your friend owns Wordens old hardware store or the other hardware store, because there are two. Summer of 2021 Wordens old store had a used clothing sale,do I pretended I was I shopping but was actually checking out the building trying to imagine where Bernice was killed lol.Funny enough the lady working the sale didn't even know of the murder.
@359Joey yea I knew everyone. And of course a Mexican wouldn't know of a muder lol. I'm done wasting my time on sumone who don't know what a pole shed is.
From what I’ve heard none of the original buildings are left on the property the little shed and outhouse were put there by one of the more current owners of the property. Me and my wife visited the property and other locations a month ago, being on the property was creepy to say the least and to top it all off there was a rotting deer carcass outside by the gate that stunk to high heaven which just added more to the creepy vibe of the place.
One of my family members had a nurse friend that worked at the institution he was at, and saw and spoke to him all the time. That's creepy. I read the book about him when I was younger, and a couple of the things it talked about, was when they went into his home, there was a saucepan on the stove with body parts in it that he had partially eaten or was going to eat. He also had a full body suit made from a skin. And a lot of his furniture that was made of human skin had female nipples as the centerpiece.
@@FreyzelProductions I dig it, keep up the awesome content. Maybe you can do h.h. Holmes next , the devil in the white city is a good book about him I read it not too long ago. He was from Illinois like you!!
That's definitely real right there telling people don't go in that town talking about Ed you a good man for dropping that information for the people who want to really visit
It was based on Ed Gein and the attachment to hate/love relationship to his mother. Bundy was in the 1970s. Buffalo Bill was also based on Ed Gein. (Silence of The Lambs)
I think the land was bought by someone who planted a lot of trees on it. Probably where the farmhouse once stood is covered by trees. The brick building was built by the person who purchased the land. I suppose the owners and future owners didn’t want to build a house on the sight because of the number of people interested in the property, they didn’t want to draw attention to the property. I wonder sometimes about why Ed become so mentally ill. One of the things which I found interesting was that Ed was exposed to pigs being slaughtered. He was only about four or five at the time, his parents owned a butcher shop, I think when Henry and Ed were very young. Ed would peek through the gaps in the wooden pig shed where the pig would be dressed. Bernice was dressed the some way in Ed’s summerhouse. Summerhouse or summer kitchen they are referred to as They are sheds connected to the side of farmhouses with an adjoining door leading into the main kitchen of the farmhouse where venison or farm animals where dressed and cured meaning prepared or smoked.

As you walked up to the property, it looked creepy. I bet the vibe was just as creepy. Lots of history. You did a great job! Take care and be safe out there.
Although i would agree it was kinda creepy just knowing what went down on the property, i also got a pleasant kinda serene feeling being there. Ive been there 8 times now(Im kinda obsessed) and its so dang rural out there, you can literally stand in the road for hours and not see a single car pass by. I parked my RV and just stared at his property for hours imagining exactly where the house/barns were. They planted around 60K trees in 1958 so his property looks nothing like it did in 57. If you didnt already do it, i recommend you visit the museum/old jail in Wautoma where Ed was held. The people there have a wealth of information about the case. I spent hours there also in the basement thumbing through all the police reports on the case. Very interesting stuff for someone as obsessed as i am!
Just an idea...but i wonder if Ed murdered the 2 women bcuz there was snow on the ground and the dirty snow in the cemetery would be easily noticed????? Maybe he was out of "parts" to do his projects with. Yuck..what a thought, but it does make me think....possibly. I believe both women were killed while snow was on the ground.
I had no idea that all of those movies were based on him. What an evil human. Thanks for showing us all of this and for all of the info. Another great video from your channel. Hope your week is great! God bless!
Excellent job on this video. I've read about Gein but never saw the locations. I saw pics of his crimes & I believe it was Ms. Hogen they found hanging upside down in his barn, headless & dressed out like a deer. Good god..
Did he killed children too?
No. All his victims were middle aged women and possibly his brother
I am pretty sure he actually liked children
Leather face is just Ed gein I saw the Texas chain massacre and it was bad

Thanks and welcome! I couldn’t believe that either. If I was a family member, I wouldn’t be a fan of that at all.
Of course - it's the opposite way around; Ed was buried where they were, as he went last. Personally- I don't see anything wrong with it.
