Excellent points! I live and hunt in interior Alaska, since the season opens Sept. calling is much less effective. Decoying in interior Alaska seems to be more effective on sunny days relative to cloudy days. I paint about half my decoys with flat black paint which I think helps visibility. I also place my decoy spread so the ducks are coming in looking at the decoys and I am not in that sight line, so ducks are not looking towards me.
What are your thoughts on rigging your decoys on the back of the keels? I hook only 5% of my decoys in the front and they are feeder decoys. Ducks face into the wind when they are ready to take off. And i find when you hook the "heads up" style decoys in the front you will be alerting ducks before they even come close. Bc it seems like they are alert and about to fly away bc they are seeing something they dont like.
What I'm noticing is ducks flaring on a perfect setup because they see a hole in the blind. Its not that they're seeing me ive used the same blind for decades. Its gotten where it has to be brushed perfectly with something covering above or they look down and spot that little black hole. It used to be so easy. Better camo and blind materials has forced ducks to get really smart about the little things.
It’s funny listening to this and just thinking about how all of our decoys do nothing and they just all land in them and down wind of them… then that group knows not to do that when it gets down there to them and doesn’t land in the decoys at all and they have to be moving decoys 😂😂 they silhouette fields here with a couple of decoys that don’t move too if you got a field to hunt off the rivers or any of the creeks or the Chesapeake.

Do it your way but I disagree half of the geese I have shot I have had no goose decoys out and do very little calling just clucks and honks but with ducks iam not sure I mostly shoot mallards and divers but ducks respond much better to a call then geese do
What’s the hell is all that professional/commercial hunter lingo..what the fuck do you mean they tend to light up..they coming in puffing on Marlboro’s..your talking to the hunt when you can hunters brothers..not the I get paid to hunt duck hunters
This is 5 minutes of the greatest decoy education you will ever get. Ever. Anywhere.

That’s a really good point, I usually mix mine pretty evenly for realism. But now you’ve got me thinking
4 years later and I’m glad I saw your comment. I’m new to duck hunting and I can’t imagine I would’ve ever thought about that
Keep’em move’n 👍
Wish I could use electronic decoys

They got to smart 🤣 the ones they shot at and missed last season. Made it back around and told the others. ...
Привет товарищи!!!))) Научите Белароусов охотится на уток.
Atlantic flyway is going down hill
I'm in the Mississippi flyway and we have went downhill too. I think regulations are a large part
Yep I’m in the Mississippi too, every year there’s less ducks.
I’ve called in solo geese with nothing but diver decoys
these damn ducks are getting to smart! 🤦♂️
Please tell us something that we don't know!
Beginner duck hunters don’t know this stuff. If you already know this then this video is for you
congratulations, you have outwitted a duck
It’s harder than it sounds man lol
