    Great collection.
    Wallace Hartley came from a small town called Colne which is in the county of Lancashire.
    There is a bust of him outside Colne municipal Hall and he is buried in the local cemetery, his funeral was attended by the whole town.
    Back in the 1970's i lived in a town 6 miles away called Barnoldswick or barlick to us locals, our neighbour who was an elderly lady at the time was related to Wallace and would tell us stories about him back then as a young lad i knew he was important as i knew about the titanic, but it's only later in life that i realised just how lucky i was to know and talk to a relative of his.

Thank you for sharing your story and the wonderful presentation. I literally ate up the whole upload. Thank you for preserving history Tony. It has always wondered me if they ever brought up the headboards from the staterooms or the mantle clock? Did they ever get to the other safes located on the ship Titanic?

      They are usually called "Bone Plates" They fit close the the main dish because of the shape so when you are eating fish or similar things you do not have far to go with the bones and things you do not want to eat. Hope this helps and thanks for watching.

    I know you sort of explained what the first artefact was and how you got it, but after that first artefact from the Bounty, what got you started?
    Did you know from the beginning you'd go for Titanic or did you start small and go big? Do you have any recommendations for what you'd go for first?
    Asking for a friend here since I'm just starting on my collection; currently getting some small things from the MV Britannic and Georgic since they're the cheapest.

    • @tonyprobst4266
      @tonyprobst4266  8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Wow, a few great questions that are difficult to answer.
      What got me started...To me it is like finding treasure which I guess it is, but not the typical Gold and Silver we think of as treasure. The real treasure are the personal items and the stories they tell or can no longer tell, stories lost that will never be told. I am always trying to find stories connected to the pieces I have. Sometimes I am able to find a wealth of information but most of the time I find a lot of dead ends..
      My first Titanic item was a Christmas gift of a recovered Titanic deck chair. I sold it to a museum many years ago.

      @@tonyprobst4266 As you said, a big part of it is the stories behind the objects.
      Since making the comment I've been slowly but surely advancing up in my collection to bigger things.

    New Subscriber - I'm also a collector - your collection is amazing - I would be very interested in a video hearing what you think about what happened on The Titan and opinions on salvaging (or not) The Titanic.

    • @tonyprobst4266
      @tonyprobst4266  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      What do you collect?
      As for the Titan, I told most of my friends that I believe it imploded on the way down because of the carbon fiber. In my opinion you just have to use logic that when you compress and expand a fibrous material, no matter how rigid it is, with the pressures at 2 1/2 tons per square inch it will fail just like bending metal back and forward until it breaks. It looks like this is the conclusion most are coming up with. We should know exactly what happen within a year.
      Whether or not to salvage things from the bottom is a tough one. There are extreme views on both sides. I am a historian and would like to preserve history as much as possible instead of it wasting away to nothing.
      Thank you for watching.

    i‘m really jealous 😁
    as someone obsessed with everything authentic from the titanic i would love to have at least a few things in my collection. is there any advice you can give to get authentic artifacts?

    • @tonyprobst4266
      @tonyprobst4266  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is a difficult question. I wish I knew the answer. Authentic artifacts are difficult to find, the Titanic was only around for half a trip. Most of what you find on line is fake and if the price is low it is because I monitor what is out there and if there is something real it gets gobbled up pretty quick.
      The best if you would like something real is to save up and find it in reputable auction houses. Nothing good comes easy. My collection started in 1971, that's how long it takes to get a few pieces. If there is anything you would like advice on you can reach me at ssm723@aol.com Thanks for watching and best of luck.

    I'm curious if you're a collector of Pitcairn Islands and/or Tahiti stamps. My obsession with the Bounty mutiny story led me to collect the stamps of the 2 countries.

    • @tonyprobst4266
      @tonyprobst4266  ปีที่แล้ว

      I do have stamps, letters and envelopes from Pitcairn Island going back to 1850. The only stamps I have from Tahiti are ones on letters I sent to family while I lived in Tahiti so there are not a lot from there. I do have a large collection of artifacts from the Bounty as you can see in the video you are watching.
      If you would like to see the very first drone video made on Pitcairn Island that I filmed on my last trip there you can find it here. th-cam.com/video/_x2d_sJUAic/w-d-xo.html
