    the car accident was altered a bit from what really happened, in the 60s-early 70s gm had to recall their cars because the engine mounts would fail and tilt the engine, causing the throttle linkage to stick wide open, and gerry was borrowing his moms 71 camaro when the mount failed and he lost control

    • @AwesomeUSMovies
      @AwesomeUSMovies  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

      Really? Wow that's crazy

    • @thamojster
      @thamojster 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      @@AwesomeUSMovies not only does a tilted engine from that era cause the throttle to stick open, it causes a manual transmissions clutch to fall apart because they used a linkage with a pivot mounted between the engine and frame, that engine twists and the pivot falls off, it was an issue on all cars but gm had engine mounts with no failsafe at the time, just a block of rubber and all that held the mount together was the glue holding it between the clamshell plates that bolted to the frame and engine, thats why a lot of times youll see lengths of chain going from the manifold to the frame as a diy fix, and gm sold kits to add a chain as well

    • @gk5891
      @gk5891 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Those style motor mounts were not unique to GM. I've bought a few radiators due to fan damage when they failed.

    • @thamojster
      @thamojster 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@gk5891 yeah but gm was known for it happening basically off the lot, they were the only ones that had to do a recall and create a specific fix for it, switching to a cable operated throttle rather than hard linkage also fixed the throttle issue, and they mounts were redesigned with failsafe hooks, engine still rocked when the mount went, but didnt lift like the old ones did.

    And you're so right about Gettysburg! I went there as a 7th grade student and I could not shake the heavy feeling as soon as I stepped foot on the property. I don't believe in ghosts at all, but it genuinely felt like those men were still there. It's like this oppressive sadness in the atmosphere, like thousands of mourners are outside watching you, but there's nobody there. I thought I was the only one who felt that way, but since then, I've heard several people talk about having that same sensation.

    • @AwesomeUSMovies

      It's a pretty interesting feeling. Like a burden on your shoulders.

    • @veggiesarefruits
      @veggiesarefruits 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AwesomeUSMovies Exactly that! And I've been to several historic sites and museums with living proof of all manner of massive human tragedies (Arlington, the Holocaust Museum, several civil war forts where battles took place). Nothing compares to that physical HEAVINESS of Gettysburg. Even as a child, having little actual context of what happened there, I immediately felt that burden as soon as I stepped off the bus. It's like all the joy and excitement were sucked out of me and I knew this was a somber place. You're also right about the visitor's center! That panorama and all the information there is like nothing I've ever seen! The guides are incredible.

    - Released in 2000; directed by Boaz Yakin; written by Gregory Allen Howard.
    - Coach Yoast actually had three other daughters in real life, but they decided to focus on Sheryl, because she did like attending the game. While the real Bill Yoast was upset about this, his other daughters didn't mind. Sadly, the real Sheryl Yoast died in 1996 at the age of 34 from an undetected heart condition.
    - To get a better shot at authenticity, Boaz Yakin used two real-life high school referees from Atlanta, including the one who played the crooked referee.
    - Kip Pardue (Ronnie "Sunshine" Bass) did play high school and college football in real life, at Yale. He played defensive back at Dunwoody High School in Atlanta, and center field on the high school baseball team.
    - Ethan Suplee (Louie Lastik) also co-starred with Denzel Washington in "John Q" and "Unstoppable."
    - The Perry High School (Perry, Georgia) marching band was chosen to be the marching band in the movie, largely because their colors were the same. They were given a semi-truck trailer as a thank you. The training camp scenes were filmed at Berry College, also in Georgia.
    - Several characters were added to the film for dramatic purposes, and weren't real. Among them were Ray Budds, Alan Bosley and his dad, and Coach Tyrell.
    - Denzel Washington turned down a role in "Pay It Forward" to do this film instead.
    - Originally, there was more profanity in the script, but Walt Disney Pictures asked producer Jerry Bruckheimer to tone it down. I believe this is one of the first (if not *the* first) PG-13 movies released by Walt Disney Pictures.

You also have seen the guy who plays Allen the kid who was too slow to cover, he is play by Ryan Gosling from The Notebook. Oh yes….summer camp is still definitely a thing in high school football!!

    • @AwesomeUSMovies
      @AwesomeUSMovies  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm sure they have summer camps but this was only kids from one specific school. Don't most "camps" have kids from all over the place now?

    • @caneanddawgfan4life
      @caneanddawgfan4life 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@AwesomeUSMovies yeah kids can go to position specific camps and all the colleges have camps for high schoolers plus most teams compete in 7 on 7 tournaments during the summer. But teams still have their individual spring and summer camps. At least here in Georgia and the southeast they do. But then again football is a religion down here.

      @@caneanddawgfan4life I played at Dodge County. We didn’t play Fitzgerald while I played but y’all were in our region sometimes, back in like 06-08 we had some great, close games with you guys but could never beat y’all. I did also attend a 7-on-7 camp in Douglas at southeast under that same coach. This was a summer camp with no pads though, they took us to fort Stewart the first week of august when we could actually hit. I enjoyed the camp in Douglas, Fort Stewart was absolute hell
