The addition of 3200s have been a major improvement in terms of customer convenience. The Blue Line has been known to get the oldest equipment so to see the line get newly rehabbed 3200s and the newly introduced 7000 series is a very welcome change and shows that the cta is committed to upgrade all parts of the Blue Line, not just the O'Hare Branch.
The 2 part Phase 1 is occurring now and will be done in October. The Racine station will be fully rehabbed and reopen in 2024 with the Loomis entrance opening sometime in the fall. Future phases can now do the complete shutdown west of Loomis Junction along with Blue Line reroutes along the Douglas [Pink Line].
