Ainsley, first, thanks for these clips highlighting our great city. I wouldn't like anywhere else in the world! Just a small point (and I know it's just semantics). I've noticed in your various posts that you refer to the western communities as "THE Westshore". I'm a long time Victoria resident (1960), so I can remember a time when the name "Westshore' wasn't even used. Virtually every local I talk to simply calls that area 'Westshore' (no "THE"). Over the years it's entered the local lexicon as a proper name (hence the two words have been merged and capitalized) , so we don't say the Westshore, any more than we would say 'the Victoria'. Small point I know, but it always sounds to me like something I would hear from a visitor to our town.
Hey Dave thanks for your comment. I was born and raised in Victoria and have always said "the westshore" as many of my friends also say that. Guess we've been saying it wrong for years! Thanks for watching and thanks for your comment.
This is two years old, and the Westshore has grown a lot I am in Colwood area and there is massive developments all around, especially the royal bay area including new schools and the new shopping districts which add value to the Westshore
Hi Victor, yes I have been meaning to do an update on that area. We did look at living in Royal Bay around 5 years ago but ended up closer to town. Thanks for the comment. 😄
Thank you for the informative content ! Our family is planning to make the move to Victoria, once I got admitted to UVIC for my Master ! Soooooooo exciting ! Would love to have your help then !
If anybody wants to have an experience of disconnection from other people; being surrounded by superficial and fake people, then Victoria is the place for that. The famous question that is being asked here is "what do you do?" The intent behind the question is mainly to hear if you have an accent and where it is from ($), then to learn about the job you have in order to quickly label and give you a worth tag for future usage. Here is raining most of time and the sun appears only sometimes
I know Im asking the wrong place but does anyone know a way to get back into an instagram account? I somehow forgot my password. I would love any help you can give me.
@Kevin Reid Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site on google and I'm trying it out atm. Takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
Best City. We have lived in WestShore and Victoria. Ur videos for Victoria kept showing Westshore stuff. Update the costs Victoria is not that $$. Westshore has soccer and sporting facilities, indoor rock climbing facilities, YMCA aside from all of the outdoor, hiking world, renowned off-road mountain biking just to name a few things which make it popular for families which you failed to mention and that’s the reason why is becoming more popular with families and what makes it reasonable to do the drive. Victoria downtown is having a huge problem with homelessness and other problems which the Westshore and Langford are keeping out and so it’s better for families that way as well.
Thanks for the comment, I have touched on that area in past videos but I will do another one this year to update all the positive things you mentioned. thanks
I am planning to live in Victoria BC since it has good climate and less expensive than main cities. I want to know about accommodation and public transport service's.
Hi Shubham, yes Victoria has some of the best climates in Canada but to be honest, it is not much cheaper than other big cities. Public transport is by bus and that works well. Rental accommodation is a little harder to come by at the moment due to a lot of university students needing accommodation, it is available but it may take a little while to find what you are looking for. Thanks
Hey Arjun, it's the mildest place in Canada, and no we don't get a lot of snow, mabye once a year! Let me know how your residency process goes. Feel free to get in touch with me via my website at ainsleygower.com I have a free Victoria neighbourhood guide I can email to you!

Hey thanks for picking that up, some bad editing on my behalf. The population of Vancouver Island is 850 000 and Greater Victoria is 408 000 as you mentioned. The municipality of Victoria is 95 000. Cheers
I've never been to Calgary but yes it's certainly a large master planned community. I sometimes refer to it as a little pleasantville but the people that live in Royal Bay love it.

Well, the so called ‘accent people’ have better earning jobs here than natives because they’ve education. The local population have the mindset of its worthless to spend money for college and choose to stick on with regular jobs. So I didn’t see a problem with accent.
😂 this isn't a jab but i had to look at your website to see if you're from here or not, you don't say "westshore" like any local i've heard. you separate the words into "west shore" and put more emphasis onto "shore". whereas i've only ever heard it said more as 1 word, with emphasis on "west".
