The distance between us may have changed some pronunciations but we’re still essentially the same, we like to differentiate ourselves and create division from each other but we’re all one race
Oh.My.Goodness. After all this time i didnt know.......I'm from Papua New Guinea and we use the exact same word for church; "Lotu". PS: I was raised in Tasmania Australia from the age of 5 so that's probably also why.
A lot on Tongans pick up or speak Samoan fluently.Samoans no so. A lot of Tongans speak or understand Samoan at my job.I asked the Samoans"Do you know any Tongan words or say some Tongan phrases" answer "what for, I am not a Tongan"...lol ....quite funny,yeah... but the Tongans know when Samoans are bad mouthing, backstabbing and even knowing their personal issues whilst conversing with other Samoans. .. Ignorance is bliss aye....
I’m pretty sure the Samoans could pick up Tongan too if they put the effort in. I doubt it’s because of their ignorance. I understand Samoan very well and can speak somewhat and for me Tongan is a lot more fluid. I find it really different the way Tongan is spoken. It’s less pronounce and the words sound more blended together. Maybe they’re in that same boat as me
Lol. Sounded like you said Siva for 9.... which is probably what the proto-oceanic word originally was before S became H in Proto polynesian... and then ProtoPoly H was dropped all together to become iva. Rotuman still seems to retain this very old S... so 9 is siva.. and sleep is MoSe.
Mose or Mosese (either or is the Samoan transliteration of the name Moses). Dance in Samoan is 'siva'. The guy on the video incorrectly told the kids that the number nine was 'Siva' (he obviously doesn't speak fluent Samoan). Another Samoan word for dance is 'sa'a' (haka).
Water may between us but we still are one!
Sefulu is so close to our sepuluh. Much love from Malaysia, cousins.
Beautiful Samoan and Tongan children ❤️

So how do you say Moses and dance?
