Remember my auld fella saying that Alex Ferguson nearly started a riot during the 69 cup final for his antics and did not like him to say the least...but now Fergie could walk into any Celtic pub around the world and be welcomed like big fried egg...wee willie Henderson etc...not everything's black and white re the Celts and gets...be dignified and show respect and most of all a wee bit sense of humour...Slainte mo chara.

I was at Celtic park for I think the second time in August 1977. My dad, sister and I got there very early and we saw the team arrive. Jock shook our hands . He simply said hello son. I was 9 years old. Dad died in the early hours of the next morning.

North European. Win it before many huge European clubs. Ten of the team came through the youth system , only faither ( Ronnie Simpson ) was bought. Ten of them were born with eight miles of paradise , Bobby Lennox 27 miles away. That's why uefa voted them the greatest European cup winning team of all time. Outstanding achievement.

Jock’s death had a devastating effect on Sir Alex, who was his assistant as Scotland’s manager during the qualifying games for the 1986 World Cup.
There is no doubt that Jock played a significant part in what Sir Alex achieved at Manchester United, in that he must have been inspired and motivated by Jock. There is no coincidence that they are the greatest managers in football history.

I think the main reason Jock never took the United job was quite simply, Matt Busby’s presence there, who despite not being the manager certainly wasn’t leaving old Trafford any time soon, and the fact most of the players where his men, still loyal to him may have given Jock pause for thought about taking on the job.
