    Hope you all have enjoyed the video as Lisette Model is truly wonderful, also known as the queen of street photography for a reason, and we can all learn with her & also don’t forget to check today’s sponsor MPB: tinyurl.com/5fe5dw5z

    The more I watch your essays the more I understand that technique alone isn't sufficient to produce good photos. Inspiration and personal vision are more relevant and these are necessary to go from good images to meaningful images.
    Thank you and keep up the good work!

    Wonderfully made. Would never have seen her without this channel. Thanks a million for that. Valuable words for anyone - to follow one's passion and work hard on that. That photograph - a man playing the guitar -was marvelous.

    Your videos are always a treat to the soul. It must have been during my study over 35y ago that I viewed work of Lisette Model and I completely forgot about it. Your choice of topics is always thoughtful and your approach is so refreshing.To paraphrase Randy Newman: you’ve got a fan in me..!

    I feel so glad when you show us female classic photographers! From the top of my head I only remember Vivian Maier amongst the classic photographers that I can recall, and having more female photographers work's as references to study is much needed in our time. This is superb! I really enjoy your channel, the editing, the pacing, the ideas you open discussions about. It's a high point on my weeks whenever a video from you pops up in my subscription page. Please keep doing this spectacular job! ❤️ from Brazil

    A rule of show business is to always leave people wanting more.
    Your videos do that. Not on purpose of course, but your material, perspective and presentation are wonderfully good.
    These introductions to various artists really help me to appreciate them and to broaden my perspective!

      @@TatianaHopper this might not be the perfect guy to do a bio on but I find him immensely interesting. Roy Stryker launched the documentary photography program of the FSA. Photographers hired by Stryker for the FSA included Dorothea Lange, Arthur Rothstein, Walker Evans, Ben Shahn, John Vachon, Marion Post Wolcott, Russell Lee, Jack Delano, Gordon Parks, John Collier, Carl Mydans, and Edwin and Louise Rosskam. I just imagine if it was f for this person what would of been lost.

    I discovered her work at an exhibition of Diane Arbus and her contemporaries here in Melbourne a few years ago. I thought her photos were more interesting than Arbus. Good to learn more about her. A fascinating woman.

    • @TatianaHopper
      @TatianaHopper  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To be fair Roger I also prefer Lisette Model’s work, I just think it speaks louder to me, not wanting to degrade Arbus’ work and I discovered Model through Arbus and was fascinated with the fact that not much has been done about her in the TH-cam realm, thank you for watching ;)

  • @TheNitebinder
    @TheNitebinder 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good documentary short video you did here. I knew something of Lisette Model work, mostly because she was a close friend and mentor of photographer Diana Arbus. In many ways, Model encouraged Arbus to capture the world in a brand new way.

    I didn't know anything about Lisette Model. I totally agree with her mottos, specially the last one, i.e. "New images surround us everywhere: they are invisible only because of sterile routine convention and fear." Thanks.

    Her contrasts are amazing, such inky blacks. I know I should be paying attention to the subjects but it is her lighting and composition that intrigue me.

    • @TatianaHopper
      @TatianaHopper  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You pay attention to what captivates you Edward :) she does have beautiful contrast in her photography it is a very consistent trait of hers. Thank you so much for watching :)

  • @continentalgin
    @continentalgin 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I love old black & white photographs. My fave are high contrast. I saved some rolls of Pan-X for my old Pentax mechanical camera that needs no batteries to shoot. I imagine that if there's an apocalypse, I'll be documenting it with my high contrast, slow Pan-X. Then, there will only be the challenge of finding a darkroom with chemicals, not so easy these days. Oh well.

    A great piece on Lisette Model Tatiana. From what I've read and gleaned, she was a talented and complex person. Any chance of you covering the photography, life and times of Kati Horna? Keep up the great work; really appreciate your research, erudition and presentation of material.
