So yeah they’re the younger sisters of BP, and follow the girl crush style, but these girls are incredibly versatile with every song they release. However the aura they have is also tied to the fact that they’re YG artists. YGE is the hip-hop/rap focused major kpop company, and the girls wanted to be “cool YG artists.” There’s also something called YG DNA, and though almost all members of YG groups are YG-coded - and as for Baemon, despite being 15-22, they trained for an average of 4 years between them, with many beginning around 10yrs old so they were quite literally raised there, and are very much the little princesses/daughters of the company and all of YGE adores them - there are some who are just born with it in their blood like Ruka, or Treasure’s Hyun-suk, who also writes, composes, and produces and who is credited on this song (and is actually the one who does the little yell thingy at the beginning of the rap section). They also have incredible stage presence (especially since they were mentored by older YG groups, such as BP’s Jennie and Lisa who appeared on Last Eval)and their live performance are even better than the recorded track so checking those out is always a great idea! Sheesh actually didn’t do too well on the charts when first released, but there was a bit of a controversy regarding live singing around the same time and YG was like oooh well my girls can SING (as opposed to the rest of his older artists where he’s like a strict father to them, hes just like a caring, proud grandfather and constantly praising Baemon) so he started making sure that everyone knew they were consistently singing live, and people were so impressed it rose to top 10 in the charts. The baseball is actually a Batter Up reference, and the “not 5 outta 5 or 7 but 10 outta 10” references that originally YG wanted 5 girls, but everyone demanded all 7, and during the member announcement video (where he broke our hearts) finally said “I’ll take all 7 together.” They also do a “go on and tell your friends” during their intro Monsters, used before live performances, and it was used during their very first music show appearances with Sheesh, and it honestly slaps tbh. Pharita actually does last part in first pre-chorus not Chiquita, Ahyeon does baby I’mma monster whisper, signaling her return to the group, so yes MVs would be more accurate lyric-wise but lyric video is generally good for matching names, faces, and voices. You said Asa correctly, though shes an Ace so she also has the nickname Acesa! And yeah girlie was rapping Godzilla at 14 with scary ease, and despite being Japanese can machine-gun rap with perfect Korean pronunciation (which is apparently incredibly impressive according to Koreans). And during LE, after years of training, essentially during the 11th hour she whipped out a great singing voice, surprising their trainers, older YG artists, and YG himself (and therefore has sung on Forever, Like That, and Stuck in the Middle). Aside from writing and composing on Batter Up, she actually helped with an earlier version of Sheesh, and said recently shes working on producing and has been writing with Rami. A common opinion seems to be Ahyeon bias, Asa bias wrecker, but honestly with every song it gets harder and harder bc every girl is bias and bias wrecker material. I’d recommend their individual intros and and first black and white covers (and maybe also even the YG Next Movement video announcing the group! first thing ever seen, showing ppl the vibes of the group), the first content released about them, which has more information and displays more of their skills, and is more accurate. Next song I’d recommend is Dream, which was released following end of Last Eval and the member announcement video (there’s also a member reaction to the member announcement video, so you can even watch that, get the gist of what happened, and really understand how meaningful all 7 debuting together is), and is just absolutely gorgeous with a great MV, including scenes from their auditions, years of training, and LE scenes, and I’ve watched grown men and women tear up over it so highly recommend. There’s also Batter Up and Stuck in the Middle, although the MVs/first released track versions, don’t include Ahyeon (health hiatus), which is why Sheesh/minialbum release is technically considered their official debut. It seems as though they were originally going to be called Babymons7er, but with Ahyeon’s health hiatus they had to change it, so the minialbum title is meaningful. Glad you like the baby monsters and cant wait to see more!
Unless someone has an actual quote I think the “babymon” is for the 7 members. They do it in this in the second chorus. They show all 7 members for each letter. Just a theory. In the behind the seens stuff they write baemon. Maybe it just sounds better than spelling out the whole thing. But 7 letter seven members makes sense.
Watch Baby Monster pre debut Dream, Stuck in the middle and also Batter Up. Batter Up is sort of a debut for 6 girls as Ahyeon was sick. My personal interpretation but I see Batter Up is more a personal fighting rap song message from YG himself to Blackpink as part of contract negotiations with Blackpink girls. Also Stuck in the middle is also the aftermath of a Stuck in the middle contract with Blackpink with the group contract signed but not the solo contracts. Also a personal message from YG. Batter Up did not have any public promotions, or award shows or any public debut launches which Sheesh as their official debut did have.
BABAYMONSTER is like thier older sister group BLACKPINK in that way. Girl Crush concept but that is the only way that I think of the two being similar. Teddy Park that has been the producer for BLACKPINK and CHOICE37 that is the producer for BABYMONSTER has similar styles as well but Teddy is definitely more EDM.The ending chant is a YG signature. Not saying that they the only ones that will do it but it is something that they do in a lot of their songs. Officail M/V from YG usually has the correct translation for the music or at least the official translation for the music video.I guess that using the lyric video is kind of a way to get to know the members and who is singing which part. B-A-B-Y-M-O-N is 7 letters for the 7 members. Their actual nickname is BAEMON which is the name of their "project" when they were trainees. Since both names have been registered for Trademark by YG Ebtertainment we can only assume that BABYMONSTER being their official name and BAEMON is their nickname. Oh, and BABYMONSTER's fandom name has been announced. I didn't know if you wanted to know or watch the announcement video to it since it is quite entertaining and you get to see some of the personalities of the members. The announcement is in the style of SNL Weekend Report just to give you an idea. So react to BAEMON7 NEWS and find out what the fandom name is. You could also react to their first original song as official members of BABYMONSTER which is DREAM. Although it would probably be better to watch it after getting some context to what the song is about. For that you would probably want to watch their introduction videos and then THE LAST EVALUATION. THE LAST EVALUATION is showing what the members went through during training in order to get selected in the final line-up for BABYMONSTER. The introduction videos and THE LAST EVALUATION would contain around 95 - 99% of what the guides will tell you since most of the guides don't go any further than what was available in those videos. So you could just watch DREAM which talks about the struggles and triumphs from their trainee days but it is actually more impactful if you watch the other content first and makes more sense of what is going on in the video.
The line "laugh all you want, its my turn now" is because there was a lot of talk around their debut since SHEESH was their debut as OT7 or with all 7 members. They did have an OT6 debut because Ahyeon had gone on hiatus when they were going to debut in November 2023. There is a lot surrounding the reasons why she took the time off but all YG Entertainment would put in an official statement was that Ahyeon wouldn't debut with the group for medical reasons. The song that they put out in November 2023 was BATTER UP which wasn't received very well and people kept saying that BABYMONSTER is just a clone of BLACKPINK or BLACKPINK 2.0 and that the song is too much of the typical YG style. Like they got a lot of criticism over BATTER UP which has Asa writing part of the lyrics including the outro and was given credit for also being part producer. As a rookie member that is quite an accomplishment. YG Enbtertainment has been known to not give their female artists any credit for lyrics or production in any songs.
Actually there is a small mistake in the lyrics video. The Baby I'ma monster part that comes after Ahyeon's high note part is sung by Ahyeon, not Rora. Of course there is a small mistake.
my bias is chiquita and ahyeon! (Stray Kids and Baby Monster. Thank you for reacting to my favorite groups❤)
