That is a two way street, so to speak. Yes the birds may now be getting fresh bugs, but you could have also cut down their nests. Same thing with the little critters. They would be hiding in there. I know this is happening in my neighborhood. Every one is cutting down their trees. We don't even half the birds we used to. The squirrels are almost gone. They use to be all over the place. Now we are seeing rabbits more then them. They are coming out of the ground. Also up the street and around the corner there is a little park. Trees around a baseball field. They cut all of the old trees down. These poor animals have no where to go. I live in the city and we even have deer coming out at night.
Except the chicken next door (10:00) pissed he couldn’t get to all the insects! I am listening with headphones on and I couldn’t tell if the background noise was a dog or birds…nope, it was the chicken! 🤣

in fact, the unmown mini-wilderness is MUCH more productive for small wildlife including birds, but the happy little opportunists {grackles or something?] certainly score big time in situations like this - similar to the birds that follow large herbivores around in Africa catching all the disturbed/confused/damaged insects etc..

The fact that they actually drop all the cuttings as small pieces you can basically leave in place as mulch is a huge time-saver. I really like my Greenworks battery-powered string trimmer for light work and around walls or fences, but for heavy brush, overgrown yards, small trees, and berry patches, you'll find nothing better than the Oregon mulching blade. Why they aren't advertised here in the States is a mystery, but at least you can get them through Amazon and Ebay. For as economical as they are, you'll be real glad to have one in the arsenal.
That woman is the prime example of why the city council should be ashamed of themselves for not taking care of the sidewalk at a minimum. It's their responsibility to make the homeowner do it or do it themselves then fine the homeowner to recover the expense. They failed miserably. You two are amazing as always. Such attention to detail!
But there is no homeowner for the last three years. It should then become the responsibility of the city or town...to at least keep the sidewalk clear...
So answer me this. The property bought by the home owner is actually to the middle of the road. Yet the city decides to place the road there and the side walk. The owner can't do anything about it. The home owner pays city taxes for the city to take care of the road and sidewalks. Yet they should be fined for the city actually doing the city's job? Why isn't the city paying the home owner for use of their land? As well as the city paying the home owner for maintaining the sidewalks? I had this discussion this morning with my mom who lives in a city. I live in the country and the things like this amuses me. Food for thought.

It is the property owner responsible. Where I’ve lived the bank owns the property after foreclosure and neglects it, causing overgrowth, or even worse, squatters that take over. Even worse are the developers who do this because they have permits but are waiting for market conditions.
This was a massive undertaking and all it took was two GOOD men and an arsenal of equipment to remove the jungle. I know the neighbors were delighted and the birds had a huge dinner. Now with the cleanup, maybe someone will decide to purchase the property! Great work as always!
I got excited while watching the before shots because I knew it was machete time, yay! The pick ax was a special treat. I swear there isn't a disgusting overgrown yard that's safe from this hard working duo! I want to not only compliment you on your work ethic, but also on your attire. I am so thankful that you protect your bodies from head to toe.
This is going to do the neighborhood a lot of good. In the area of 13:42, you have already made a major change. The front is becoming neat and blends in with the neighborhood. You made a huge shift in the place. Enjoyed seeing the design lines found, as the walkway and planting bed, front fence. Nice to see the space in the backyard. A very good job done. That the elder immediately used the now-navigable sidewalk was pretty impressive.
So nice she can use the sidewalk and stay out of the street. Neighbors must be so happy.

It is the property owner responsible. Where I’ve lived the bank owns the property after foreclosure and neglects it, causing overgrowth, or even worse, squatters that take over. Even worse are the developers who do this because they have permits but are waiting for market conditions.
The birds are happy ,they getting all the goodies in that cut grass ..Beautiful job ,well done as usual!!

This was a massive undertaking and all it took was two GOOD men and an arsenal of equipment to remove the jungle. I know the neighbors were delighted and the birds had a huge dinner. Now with the cleanup, maybe someone will decide to purchase the property! Great work as always!
I got excited while watching the before shots because I knew it was machete time, yay! The pick ax was a special treat. I swear there isn't a disgusting overgrown yard that's safe from this hard working duo! I want to not only compliment you on your work ethic, but also on your attire. I am so thankful that you protect your bodies from head to toe.
This is going to do the neighborhood a lot of good. In the area of 13:42, you have already made a major change. The front is becoming neat and blends in with the neighborhood. You made a huge shift in the place. Enjoyed seeing the design lines found, as the walkway and planting bed, front fence. Nice to see the space in the backyard. A very good job done. That the elder immediately used the now-navigable sidewalk was pretty impressive.
