Just finished the first game, Speed vs. Snow. Holy crap, that was incredible! I truly thought Speed had zero chance after Snow's first reaver drop. Even ten minutes later, I still thought it was hopeless for Speed, and I'm pretty sure Tastosis thought so too. For him to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, even *I* was getting chills.
Everyone talking about how good a game it was but Snow absolutely THREW that first game. He secured a massive lead with all the SCV kills but failed to kill the armory with the dt's, and then proceeds to half-heartedly tech arbs to carriers AND takes a fourth. All this achieved was allowing Speed to secure his position, obtain a third and continue upgrades. Major strategic fail from Snow.
Speed proved two major innovations for Terran: You must have religious Turret placement to prevent devastating drops from Reavers or HT and Obs. Gols have to push with army to push shuttles away and Gols at 3rd/4th are best defense vs HT drops. Truly impeccable macro play from Speed. Hope this affects the rest of the Terrans this season. His vulture harassment was so effective because he consistently either delivered damage or instantly pulled back to mitigate damage and get maximum value from mines. Truly a Class S performance. 👍
3:57:11 is when Speed throws that last game versus snow, pushes out across the bridge for no reason with all his goliaths and tanks clumped, he is on 4 bases, he should of waited for more supply and 2/1 to push and end. He still had time before carriers came out, but he jumped the gun and paid the price for it.
ngl speed played a better game than snow even tho speed lost the game. compared to rain, it's quite clear that snow's indecisiveness is one of his biggest issues

3:59:52 This isn't a joke. You can actually make your reavers shoot faster by picking them up and quickly dropping them again. When you drop a reaver out of a shuttle, its main order timer is set to 30. But reavers normally have a cooldown of 60. So if a reaver shoots, and you immediately pick it up and drop it, you can cut its remaining cooldown down to 30 in just a few frames. The reason is a bit of code that resets cooldowns for units that get dropped out of transports. This originally only worked for units with normal weapon cooldowns, so people complained about reaver and storm drops. Blizzard patched it to set the spell cooldown and (for reavers only) the main order timer to 30. But this opened up another (admittedly much more difficult) avenue for exploitation that you see here.

Now having watched, Speed is quickly becoming one of my favorite players. His style is so active, his name suits him. He played out of his mind for this series.

Yeah does seem like he's one of the only ones that does that. In the middle of a large fight he'll just run up and lay them in the opponent's face. Yeah you lose a volley or two from the vultures but then the enemy units have to move or shoot the mines so they're losing volleys, and their volleys are probably worth more than vultures' volleys. Does make a lot of sense. He is one of the only guys whose APM stays at 440-450 the whole game, so I'm guessing not all terrans can pull this style off. Was funny seeing Snow hover around 290-320 and him being at 440-450 most of their series. Guy lives up to his name

Not only Speed (formerly known as Sexy) already earned my respect when he put himself into the group of death and didn't shy away to face his nemesis SnOw, but with what he showed on this round he became my favorite terran. Those were the scariest pushes I saw in a long time, excellent micro and multitasking, vulture harass on par with Sharp or FlaSh. Pity he lost winners and losers to carriers, if only he had prepared to face them he could have crushed this group. But I believe he will be back next season!

Well played by both, but I don't think I can remember the last time I've seen someone get into ro16 for their first time and has impressed me this much. Looking forward to seeing Speed playing in more tournaments in the future.

Tastosis and the SSL observer both missed that Snow never rebuilt the assimilator at 12 oclock in the epic game 1 of the rematch series. That's why he was so low on gas and had to swap back to reavers from his templar, he simply never realized he was down a gas

Snow looked really sloppy today honestly. So many micro mistakes we're not used to seeing from him. He lost so many reavers in game 2.
Decider match, game 1 was one of the sickest of the tournament so far. Damn, that was entertaining.
