For some reason that hang-glider section repeatedly defeated me. I got past 3 flags on my first attempt, and then just couldn't repeat it. Kept losing altitude just before or just after flag 1. Didn't help that, because I had reduced my fov in the options earlier, the speedometer was rendered off-screen for my first 10 - 15 attempts. But even after figuring that out, I reckon fully 25% of my deaths in the whole game came from crashing next to flag 1 (another ~25% from enemies, and ~50% from falling into water). Just couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong, and tweaking my angles didn't produce noticeably different results. But once it finally clicked again, I got through the whole thing on one attempt, although I zigzagged and circled a lot more than you to build up altitude wherever there was room. This was the most stressful and frustrating section of the game for me.
Ah, that's unfortunate to hear! I don't know if I just got lucky (there's a couple of close calls and awkward angles) or if the mechanic just clicked for me, but I did indeed have a much better time than you did. For me, this was comparable to Fallcrush as a chill interlude level between some more demanding sections.
