This is so cool to me. I want a wire EDM machine to be the next machine I buy to learn how to use. I have never seen a wire EDM machine run before and I'm a total noob so these videos are super helpful.
Thanks for watching! We're happy to answer any questions you have if you end up getting one. We didnt have one in our shop for almost 8 years and when we finally got one, it was a game changer.
@@zerotolerance8262 Thanks! I'm a newish 1 man shop (3 years into being full time) and I love the hunt for making a better part and that's making me want a wire EDM next
I've noticed a lot of you guys using ESPREE. I'm still using Mastercam for programming. Not a lot of support for EDM with Mastercam Most if not all my stuff is 2D. I do very little taper work.
I cut a lot of Neodymium magnet materials. I use a .012 zinc wire and on a 2.00" block I'm getting about .055 IPM. I'm curious at how much faster that expensive wire you mentioned works. I've been researching Molybdenum wire cutting machines too. They seem much faster, but not as accurate. Most of these magnets are ±.005", so that may be an option.
Off topic but I noticed you have a Darex drill sharpener. How do you like it? We are thinking about getting one and would appreciate your feed back on it. Thanks, Todd
Practice drill sharpening by hand and it will pay off!! I sharpen and split 1/8" drill bits with a belt sander! My guys think I'm a GOD. These young kids don't get it! I worked in a shop when I had 3 kids at home waiting for me! I couldn't afford to get fired! I did finally get appreciated by someone else!!
Hello, we have 1998 Agie Evolution 2 Agiecut and did same test and got total machine time 36min. Erosion time was 31min. We have 0,25mm zinc wire. What makes such a time difference?
If you can find an honest recycler. That's a dirty business. I found a decent one. Here in Los Angeles, I can get about $2.80 a lb on scrap wire. The last guy was giving me $.75 and going lower each visit. I ran into him at a gas station, and he got so scared he left without getting gas!
You can also change the skim technology on wire feed from 8 to 6 also.

The Zinc coated wire has a more porous surface which allows for better material removal then normal brass.
Dose recycleabilty have a effect on choice
What about maintenance costs
