    NO rappers were ever in Wall Street Journal, Fortune magazine, etc. before P got there. Can you imagine a gold mouth southern rapper turning the world on its head to become the richest hip hop ANYTHING in the game????? None the less all this happening in the mid 90's. Two words....slept on.
    Now his newest music.....ummm, I will just stay in the past ;)

    Distribution is all we ever needed. But most people want the fame . I just want the money

    • @MSNTLRecords
      @MSNTLRecords 9 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      +TheKJProductionz The distribution is there now with CDBaby, Tunecore, Mondotunes, etc. You just have to grind and get your music out there so people can buy it. A guy I went to school with is a blue singer now (J.R. Blu Check out his music) )and he's getting regular shows and distributed via CDBaby which gets you in around 90 stores for $35 a song/$99 an album. You really don't need a deal these day to make money. you won't be famous but you're making money. And dealing with the blues, if you can get one hit, you can do shows for years off ONE song

    • @MoneyOverFame
      @MoneyOverFame 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      KJ you are exactly right. Distribution is all you need.

    • @BornToBeFamed

      @BornToBeFamed 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +MSNTLRecords he had a group that was 1 on the pop charts in japan at one time. They made alot of money and never moved back home lol.

    • @MSNTLRecords
      @MSNTLRecords 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      TheKJProductionz I don't blame him. It's a lot easier (generally speaking... not literally) to make good money in genres like Pop, Rock, Country, etc. indie than hip hop simply off fan base size. Put your music on CDBaby, MondoTunes, Tunecore, etc., shoot videos, do shows and they don't need a major (because your music is everywhere like theirs). With hip hop/rap, you can do the same but these days you have to sift through 100,000 rappers and 50,000 producers to find the good ones. Many rap fans these days don't wanna do that so indie artists suffer. That's why you have to build yourself up locally then regionally then nationwide (and the Internet allows you to promote yourself worldwide at the same time)

    As Snoop said, Master P showed the rap game how to make money. Yeah you had rappers that were signed to major clothing brands, appeared in movies and/or had record labels but Master P put out his own movies, owned No Limit and had his own clothing line. Glad to see two major icons like Snoop and 50 admit their got their game from P. 50 pretty much did everything P did in the early-mid 20s and took it to another level when he hit the lotto with Vitamin Water.
    If there were a Mount Rushmore for hip hop, you could make a strong case for P to be on there (not saying he would be on there, but the case can be made). If there were a Hip Hop Hall of Fame, he would NO DOUBT be 1st or 2nd ballot.
