Your passion for sewing is contagious! I am just starting out. Love how you made the faux denim skirt without sacrificing the details. The simplification of the pattern using the embroidered fabric made sense - something I would not have considered. I probably would have let that left over denim fabric sit somewhere forgotten, thinking I didn’t have enough. Love the saving money aspect and using what you have to make it work. It’s about respecting the fabric and creating a lovely garment to wear. This is my favourite sewing channel. The garments you made for your family (Christmas Sewing Video) were lovely - they are ‘sew’ lucky to have you in the family! This is what makes you such a wonderful teacher. Keep up the great job 🇨🇦👏❤️
Thanks so much! I have been sewing since I was 8 and I will be 60 in January. After watching your zipper fly video yesterday, I remembered making me a pair of red jeans when I was in high school and how I put a zipper in like that. You actually talked me into getting a serger. I got it last week. A Janome. I am enjoying it. Thanks so much for your awesome videos. You are inspiring me to make clothes that actually fit. It is so hit and miss buying clothes for my body. Thank you!
Karina, as always, I learn so much from you. I especially love all of your tips about maximizing our amazing fabric so that we can get the most for our money. Your denim skirt with patch pockets is so lovely! Blessings to you and your family.
Yep, that skirt's embroidered fabric is gorgeous. To me, you are doing a great job with the fit of your garments; I am not satisfied with the fit for me sometimes and that's the point of the sewing in the first place!
Oh Karina! I love these so much, everything about both of your skirts. I know you will enjoy wearing them. I’m always encouraged and get so much inspiration from you. I’ve learned so much, and I’m so much more comfortable sewing from your example. Thank you! ❤️
I like that pocket idea on your denim skirt - that technique makes handy, roomy pockets with topstitching that makes them look great for the skirt. You have found fit and style that work well for you!
Hang in there, it just takes time, go slow, make simple things first. There are many wonderful bloggers there to help -look at them Karina is super. But after over 50 years I still am learning something new - fabrics & how to sew a garment better like now with her. So welcome to sewing as an adventure.
Cath, you will get there, one project at a time. I have already learned a lot from watching Karina. Just had a flop…oh well. It happens, but also have two beautiful tops and love wearing. Focus on the positive. What is important is you are sewing.
I love that embroidered fabric, and allso watched your easiest fly zipper video. Love the yoga waistband idea! I am interested to know i f you did anything special to line up the embroidery on the side seams.
I was only careful to not cut up the flowers on the Center front seam. I had so little fabric available, so I didn’t worry about matching the side seams.
I always learn so much from you! When topstitching the stretch denim, what kind of needle did you use? Topstitch? Ballpoint? Denim? Jersey? So many choices!

I cannot find any heavy jersey with 10% spandex. If anyone knows where you can find it in the states.
I love the denim skirts. Both are beautiful.
Lovely skirts! Fun to see how you modify them both. I also love to see all your thoughts to make your fabric go as far as possible.
Fabulous skirts, great techniques and use of fabrics xxx

Also try making 18" doll clothes. Learn and practice the basics + a finished product-- then baby clothes voila!!!!

Beautiful makes as always. 😊
Perfect… I’m gonna try that! Thanks.
Your creativity always amazes me. Both skirts look really good on you.
Beautiful work. Full of wonderful content.
I really love these pants. And it’s nice that there’s a full belly option. This would go a long way in my closet.
I never wear skits because it’s hard to find a nice A-line . This looks very do able and I would like a nice denim skirt.
It's a great basic and denim skirts just go with everything :)

I love the chambray skirt. Did you make the top too? Great video.
The chiffon one is free, the video

I really love yoga waistbands, they are so comfy. I will certainly be copying your denim skirt. Your black top caught my eye too, what pattern is it?
Both tops are black. The sheer one is the Paddington top and the Swiss dot one is the Ballad blouse from Love Notions
💖
Could this pull on waist be done with the pants/shorts as well?
Yes. You can simplify the pockets for them too.
