One thing I always wanted to see is catchers fielding mattering on calls on the strikezone, better fielding gives you more calls just catching the corners.
Framing should 100% be a defensive attribute for catchers.

I think the manager boost could be a cool concept. The manager could just be a create a manager as far as name and what he looks like, nobody would care, wouldnt matter anyway. I think the concept of how the boosts are attained could work similar to how earning wild card slots worked this season, would make sense to me
My only theory on the scarceness of the team captains card is that because their core cards, SDS doesn't want people to have too many and have stacked teams right at the beginning of season 3 and 4, especially with that derek jeter boost
I think that captains requirements are leading to specific stats on versions of cards so that they fit or don't fit Meta boosts.

Also finishing the programs thing is very real because my bro who plays DD always ask me how i finished a program when it takes like 2 minutes to go over how to get it done efficiently

The reason they havent released captains is because IF they do another reset everyone having all the captains would make most live series and the first few content drops obsolete. If they decide to abandon the reset I imagine they will release them all
Mangers is definitely a neat concept and makes more sense in terms of boosts. How great would it be to have a Tommy Lasorda, Billy Martin or Sparky Anderson card. And like you said, we no longer have a captain card filling a roster spot.
My problem with the season awards programs is I just don’t have any interest in any of the cards. It feels like a chore to complete and I only finish it because my ocd won’t allow 😅
The reason the captain cards aren’t free for everyone is because of sets and seasons…. if they gave those core captain cards to everyone then when the new season dropped everyone would have a full diamond lineup ( i know most of us do anyway but im talking more of the casual player) They should however make them an exchange because most people took the best players in the captain packs not who they wanted to make theme teams with
MLB the show only dropping one content release a week to not stress the non casual players out when both Madden & NHL drop content at least 3 times a week or more still 10 months after the game was released.Up until two seasons ago we were getting multiple content drops a week from MLB the show. Now they'll drop a bunch of content at once and disappear for 3 months. I remember back in 20 & 21 we were getting SDS live streams like every 3 weeks. It just seems to be a major disconnect between SDS and it's Player base.

Here's an idea! How bout having a CHOICE pack of captains AND managers in Team Affinity? Both with "fake" names because TBH who wants a guy traded or a manager fired before the season is done? I think its ridiculous to have a player like Verlander as a cap. on the Tigers, when he hasn't played on that team in what...5 or 6 seasons? All the past baseball games with no MLB license used "fake" names, I think this could solve a bunch of issues for SDS as far as licensing and re-using same-player cards. I'd like to get back to REAL team affinity and NOT division affinity. Players choice as to what team they want to finish and gather those cards for. This also gets rid of seasons so win-win. Personally, I don't do Showdown or any of the online options where its pay to play.
I personally love the captains and don’t understand your meta argument. I think the captains actually make more lineup diversity. There’s always a meta. Captains offer different ways to build a team. Without captains, there would be less lineup diversity in the meta. Totally agree on your team captain take. Why can I only have 6 of 60 team captains half way through the cycle? I also like the manager idea, but supplementing captains, not in place of them. Another thought, let us have a captain on our bench.
I made a video on potential manager cards a while back. Interested concept. But I'd be okay if all caption based stuff was gone
How about SDS allowing cards to have team chemistries for teams the player has played for instead of us hoping they release cards with one team that we're a fan of. For example, all Babe Ruth cards would have Yankees and Red Sox chem, regardless of card art.
I've used every "meta" captain this year (Buxton, Santana, Kershaw, Devers, Corbin) and I really don't want captains to return next year. I feel like I've been forced to use them just to compete. Which has led to me not using so many cards that I would normally use, just because they don't fit the boosts. And to the point, I'm looking through every content drop to only find cards that fit my boost and disregarding anybody who doesn't. It's just not good for the game. Only MLB team captains should exist in my opinion.

Something else to consider: People may understand the most efficient way to grind these drops, they just might not find that way fun, so they don’t do it. Myself included.
Thanks for responding, what would you think if they brought back henchmen for the TA programs and those would be the captain cards instead of worse recycled cards

They already have them. They’re on the rosters in franchise and every other then dd

Casuals can finish things at their own pace...no loss for them. Its the more dedicated players that spend money, keep the game alive after the first month, and have been around long enough to see basic content that wasnt easy to finish in an hour. There is not really an excuse for the lack of good content. All SDS has to do and go back and look at what they did in the past.
One example -- Programs were always 150-200 points to finish....now they are 50 points. Whats the reason for shorting them to 25% or 33% of their past length?
Until the All Star break, we were only getting the Topps "Awards" Drop most weeks...which is barely content at all. What were they doing?
Like ive said, there is an easily cited, past precedent for a bigger, more engaging, more creative content structure -- the current lack of content is a choice. Why? Thats all id like to know.
Thanks for the response, at the start of the year, they had theme team captains in the shop where you could only buy 2 hitting/pitching each. I think in season 3, they should add new theme team captains. Take Seranthony Dominguez for example, he’s the Phillies team captain and was traded to the Orioles, I think each team should get a new hitter/pitcher captain.

The only boost I've used all year were Castillo live boost and my cubs theme team players im not into all these captain craps lol
Is it ok if I dont use captains and strictly use the cards i like because they all may not fit into a specific boost.(Only boost I ever used was the Santana boost)

The captain glitch has its positives and negatives i believe that captains should be able to be activated even from the bench.
But that doesn't make sense bc irl what Captain is on the bench. Captains aren't always the best player but are most definitely a starter.
@@DROBB2BS these are fantasy captains anyways besides jeter and judge and varitek that come to mind anyways. A captain doesnt have to be a starter in real life of a videogame to make an impact. Thats my opinion.
