    I’ve never understood why people hate the sound they make. I’d argue the flywheel noise is the best part. That way you know the gun is ready to fire. So many times I’ve been trying to toe nail with a Milwaukee in a tight spot and you never know if it’s going to fire or not. Dewalt ramps up and you know the tip is depressed enough and it’s ready to go. Also, it’s the only gun I can use without hearing protection. All the others may be quieter BEFORE you shoot. But they are all louder after

      I just don’t like it because they don’t last very long. I’ve had poor performance with it

      @@ZEPR0FESS0RR although I don’t disagree with you. Most issues boil down to a few simple problems that I have just come to accept as regular maintenance. Once I really figured the nailers out they are pretty easy to diagnose, I’ve had the same 2 nailers for around 3 years now and they are al I use for framing. The springs are the most common thing you need to replace, and every now and then the flywheel wears the bottom of the firing pin just enough to cause problems.

      Technically no, but you’ll have to take it to a registered Dewalt technician for them to pin and weld the magazine to the gun to ensure it is not removable. Then they plug it so it can only hold 5 nails at a time. Its a real pain in the ass because the gun stops firing when theres only 3 nails remaining in the mag.

    I bought one of these last week and it is exactly what I need for building at my remote site in Alaska, which is a 3+ hour drive from my house followed by a 15 mile boat ride just to get on site. This kept me from having to buy an expensive gas powered compressor to run my air nailer (my generator is too small to run an electric). Just as importantly, I didn't have to haul a heavy compressor all the way out there, or carry it up the hill to the build site from the water. Uses the batteries I already have so I didn't need to haul 2 types out.

    There's one thing you didn't do; use 3 1/4" nails and drive them in with full depth in different materials and angles.

    I think for basic framing and construction, this thing is legit vs setting up a compressor, or even hand driving nails. I've ordered one after passing on the previous gen 21 degree. I wear ear pro most days running a saw, so I doubt the noise will bother me. Thanks for the video!

    Thanks for the review. I've been so curious to see how this would perform. I would like to see if it can consistently drive 3" or bigger nails into lvl. I love that they were able to shave some weight, great point on analog being a good option. Definitely not a fan of flywheel noise though

  • @renurenovationsllc7780
    @renurenovationsllc7780 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    The flywheel design stays cooler on hot summer days so a benefit there. So for a nice NON harsh shot, and Longevity, Metabo HPT hands down. We use them to sheet houses sometimes, 2,000 nails in under an hour, with one gun, anything over about 1000 nails almost continually firing makes very any gas type extremely unhappy. But the older generations of Dewalts never had the power for ring shanks in old rafters. And no I am not switching to slowly loosening smooth nails. And the older Dewalt driver tips mushroomed, you had to pull them and grind them smooth occasionally. My FIrst Dewalt showed 50,000 plus nails on the cycle counter.

    I just haven't ever gotten on board with the battery framing nailers. I have a "red team" pneumatic nailer and it's amazing. It is lightweight, Magnesium body, comfortable, strong, reliable, etc. I had an older 20v DeWalt 15 degree finish nailer. It was great, but would not fire into Oak flooring. That's half of what I'd use it for. So, it is basically a trim gun. I needed something more all-around in a finish nailer. So I guess I just stayed in the pneumatic realm. EDIT: my pneumatic nailer definitely does not do any "nail tracking" what the heck is that all about? Companies needed one more data point to collect on users?

    Actually is plan to see the dewalt is smaller. 5:06 in video. It’s shorter and does it have that side pump out like the Milwaukee. It’s narrow at the tip and tapers back consistently. It’s fatter at the back end but where it matters up front its narrower and doesn’t have that offset plastic.

    I am black and yellow team, spent over $300 on the first 30° 1st gen framer, which was totally garbage. Then I bought a 21° framer. It was good for a couple of years with very very light use (maybe 50 nails per month) nailing boards up in the attic to brace chandeliers. Now it started acting up. I am very disappointed. I have a huge 20v lineup tools not easy to switch brand. I use pneumatic guns for all day framing.

      I have the previous one as well(rebuilt at that) and use it as a full time carpenter for two and a half years and I love it outside the weight. I have a paslode as well that’s quite old, and a guy I work with has the Dewalt, my Dewalt runs circles around both the other two. Had a guy helping us with the newest paslode and it was off every time we tried to fire it, drove me crazy! When it was on it just kept up wit my Dewalt. I think just some of the Dewalt are great but a large portion seem to maybe have a defect, when you have a good one they’re the best but most aren’t.

    I can absolutely garentee that the dewalt tracks how many nails you've fired, the last ones all did it and you had to press the button in a set combo and there's alil light on the side that'll flash once for every 1000 nails, this will be no different, average of about 25/30k nails and the spring for the flywheel will be knackered and need changing, common problem with them but a cheap fix you can do yourself, anyway looks like they've taken the motor from the concrete nailer so this should be a good improvement hopefully it'll last longer than the previous gens.
