Bro I might actually be retarded, I couldn't get these commands to work for like a year until you mentioned turning the command line off. Most games automatically do that for you after inputting a command.Thanks a ton!
If you’re doing this on Steam Deck, make sure your controller setting is set to “gamepad” as the game automatically defaults to a community created control scheme. Also, a quicker way to do this is hitting up on the keyboard when you type exec. The line of text automatically fills itself with the rest of the command.

@ When you’re in the game, hit the steam menu button > Call of Duty World at War > Controller Settings > Use Gamepad Controller (this allows the game to look for a controller directly hooked onto Steam Deck instead of Valve’s digital controls) Once you do that, follow the instructions in this video or do as I say, with the command controls >exec and then hit up on the D-Pad/keyboard so that it autofills the command. Notes: I used an Xbox Series X controller wired to my Steam Deck in docked mode. I do not use wireless as it has connection issues (which is common apparently.) You also can’t use the tactical layout in WaW PC like in other CODs, you are stuck only using the default controller scheme if you’re using controller instead of mouse & keyboard. @@cam935n If I remember correctly, Bo1 does need some slight adjustments similar to WaW. Not nearly as drastic you just have to make sure you change your controller type to controller gamepad instead of valve digital controls and go to the options in BO1 and make sure it says controller gamepad too. You also can’t use the menu without a mouse. (You actually NEED a mouse to select game modes; Campaign, Multiplayer. Zombies, etc). For BO2 and BO3, no issues at all. It should auto detect if your wired controller is already in no adjustments required. Not sure about anything else in COD. I only have WAW-BO3.
i seriously need help before i break everything i own. i use the command exec default_controller.cfg and it works for the most part, but not fully. first i cant walk around, i have manually make the input in the controls and i see everyone not even needing to do that. secondly things like sprint, melee, holding x to use or reload do NOT work. another thing i would need to manually input. on top of all of that it seems like steam is messing with how the commands pop up in game. for instance when i put X as reload it shows up as R for kb&m or "page up" and not X like as it shows for the switch weapon prompt where it says Y. i need help and non of the videos i looks up help at all its all the same stuff. Edit: something i just realized is when i hit default controls, my prone button is now my LB on my Xbox one controller and jump is now B. what the absolute hell is wrong with my pc, game or controller. i never had to deal with this. when i first used this command a few weeks ago it worked perfectly now it just wont do as it supposed to.

I know this reply is over a year late but im guessing your using the cracked version? If so you have to patch the game to 1.6 or 1.7 in order to implement controller input
It seems that I lost gameplay sound after doing something with this. I can’t figure out how to make the sound work. The opening cut scene to the mission works for sound but gameplay is not
I have an issue. I use the right thumbstick to look in waw but the gamepad also does this. I accidentally brush my thumb on the gamepad and it makes me look up which is distracting. I just wanna know how to disable the look option on the gamepad so i can use the right thumbstick instead. If you could help me disable it that would be cool :)
Tough one, it may be stuck like that because I’m not sure there is a way to manually set individual buttons/game pad on WaW, probably have to see if you can find something for WaW button mapping online, I’m sorry I don’t know.

@@unazbossonly428 the ps4 controller is not the normal configuration, but if you go into the single button selections in the menu for you may be able to select the buttons individually and map them yourself on WAW.
I seriously don’t understand I have no enable console on my screen and when I execute the configuration it does nothing I’m so lost. At one point a on screen keyboard kept popping up. I removed that but now none of the controls will work

That would just be to set the screen resolution in the settings under visuals maybe, I’m not looking at it now. Definitely within some of the settings though.
I have a pdp xbox one controller that works for every other game I have, but I keep getting an error in red that says "couldn't exec default_controller.cfg," when I try this. Once I tried it without the 'exec' and the console said "unknown cmd default_controller.cfg," either way the game doesn't seem to be taking my controller. Anyone know how to fix?
just use antimicro or jb shady's mod instead if u play cod waw (this mod includes console hud, self revive, etc...), for some reasons this command only binds everything except "use" button
@@Ghost-oq4qj I’m not sure why this is but I’ve had a lot more success with cheap wired Xbox controllers for PC usually because I think it is the Microsoft connection which makes the compatibility a bit better if you are running windows.

The problem with this it only works on campaign and zombies but not multiplayer plus u can only crouch or prone with B one or the other not both
alright so when i try to run straight my camera looks all the way up or when i step back my camera looks all the way down
