As a lefty, this is very inspiring 💪
Any tips for someone who finds themselves is GG’s position to dig their way out? I guess going for a cheeky albeit low % counter attack is not recommended…

Thanks for watching! Generally speaking when under pressure we need to buy ourselves time. that entails using height and slowing things down. Typically straight is best (from the back), because opponents are looking for the cheeky, weak cross court. A cheeky counter attack is often not recommended either. The very top players do sometimes deliberately force the low percentage shot IF their opponent is the type of really poach over. In that case, if executed reasonably well, it reverses the pressure. Again though, highly skilled players are occasionally successful with that strategy. You can imagine how often us mere mortals will succeed doing so :) haha.
      All the best,

nice array of shots from shabana... very very instructive 👍
are there any tips that one can develop to heighten one's situational awareness of where the opponent (especially when said opponent is behind) is?

      Thanks Nicholas! 🙏🏼
The biggest piece of advice I can give is to be aware / start thinking in linear steps. For example think of where you just hit the ball, and you'll know that your opponent is naturally in that corner. Then you can combine your knowledge (based on your history of playing with them), about how well they move. So for example let's pretend I hit a backhand length. I know from experience that my opponent doesn't move out of corners that quickly and 'camps' in the back. These two pieces of information would lead me to hit to the front right corner (if possible), using the basic 'hit to the open court' strategy.
There are other ways of training ones peripheral vision (reaction lights etc etc), but raising our awareness and being cognizant of the situation / play is definitely the fundamental step in my opinion. Oh, and having a general sense of patterns of play will also go a long way here.
Once the aforementioned skills have been developed, then we can potentially consider enhancing them with better reaction speed etc.
      Hope this helps!
