My friend explained PC Optimum in the same manner you did, and I switched stores for the bulk of my shops (Superstore and Shoppers). @@dylankyang Despite becoming a poor person in pain, I saved another. Across the street from me at The Villages Of Abbey Lane, I saw a poor man who was in need. He sat on the bench and looked like a pale man looking into nothingness. He looked thin and so empty. I knew he needed someone to talk to, and so I did. He was so happy that someone saw him as a somebody. He told me that he had gone out of business and horribly ended up as a homeless person. He looked so much empty and in pain. I gave him some money in hopes that he would get some fresh clothes at the Goodwill store that was there at the plaza at that time, and perhaps a pair of scissors and a mirror such that he could cut his long hair. Days later, I saw him again sitting on the bench as usual. He was so happy to see me. There he was, in fresh new clothes. He was so happy to see me again. He then showed me his bag that had even more fresh clothes that he bought from Goodwill, along with a mirror and a pair of scissors. Yep, he cut his own hair. I then gave him some more money and some TTC tickets such that he can be free from one area. That was the last I saw of him. But when I spoke to the pizza guy at the same plaza who used to give the fellow pizza leftovers, he told me that that the guy had phoned family members, and that they took him in. They saved him. We, saved him.
Great tips! I’ll be looking to add in the coupons starting this week. I spend hours each week searching the flyers and offers for the best deals. It’s a labour of love.
U absolutely right! So smart shopping is super key and learning the prices to your go to items are also super helpful to remember so that you don’t end up overspending. Lol but i realize that not everyone wants to take things that far so for those that don’t want to think too hard. Here’s my mental list of products that shoppers actually often sell cheaper or are on sale regularly - eggs - milk - butter - facial tissue - bathroom tissue - chips (Doritos sweet chilli heat my go to) And cause i like the neutrogena face wash i often get bonus points when theyre on sale. The more you use the app the more theyll be able to cater offers and promotions for you.
Hi Dylan! So I have the elite master card, that gives me 45 point per dollar. On 20x days I get 900 points per dollar??? That is 0.9$ back for each dollar !!! Right? It's so sus!
Hey Zara, Thanks for the comment! I like the way you’re thinking and this will help ensure us to find great deals. However PC has thought of this lol. There’s always fine print that you need to check cause they always end up catching up on the loop holes. So yes you get 45 pts per dollar spent. But on paper this is broken up by 15 regular points from the regular PC Optimum membership plus 30 bonus points from the World Elite MasterCard. They do this because on the 20x point events days they will apply the multiple to the regular points ONLY and not the MasterCard points. Which means you’re only getting the 20x on the regular 15 points. That total would be 300 plus the 30 world elite MasterCard points. So as a result on 20x your points events: regular pc Optimum members usually get about 30% back in points And as a World Elite MasterCard holder you can get around 33% back. Which is why stacking offers and coupons are the main driver to help raise your return to the next level. Also MasterCard points don’t appear on the receipt right away, you’ll get them a few business days later into your account. I tried my best to explain that but let me know if I’m not making any sense.
I dunno exact dates. I feel like the x20 points day are pretty random. There’s actually a x20 on beauty starting tomorrow till the 26th. To stay up to date i think the easiest thing is downloading the app and then the next step would be to sign up for those texts promos. I think i linked it in the description.

@@hino823 hey Hino! It just really depends on how much effort you want to put into trying to save money/make the most points for your dollar. For a set it and forget it method i cover that at 1:58 But if you prefer reading, a tl;dr to your questions: 1. yes you need 1000 points for $1. But you’re only allowed to redeem in $10 increments. Ie 10,000 points (20k, 30k, etc.) 2. the amount required to earn 1000 points vary: If you don’t do anything but scan the card it’s about a 1.5% return at Shoppers and a >1% at gas stations. So about $66-100 (Which is decent considering it’s not even a credit card) But if you want more points then check out 6:23 this is why i made this video because there are many more opportunities like: - loading offers in your app so you can get more points while you shop (groceries, gas, shoppers) you can get points alot quicker Ex: get 200 pts for every $1 spent on apples Approx 20% return so that’ll get you to 1000 pts in $5. - Or combining credit cards bonuses, events, coupons and offers you can get close to 50% return in points. It’s all in the video
Thanks for the info. Good Job! please explain if I can download the PC Optimum app to my home computer instead of on my mobile phone as I do not have a data plan. Also where can I find the discount coupons? Thank you.
Thanks you! You can go to www.pcoptimum.ca/ on your home computer and see your offers there! Then when you go to the store all you'd need to do is scan your PC Optimum Membership when you check out.
Thanks so much Debby! No worries, I think they've actually made it easier since I filmed this video. I think they've pre-loaded the offers so all you need to do is open the app and scan your card.
Hey Wolfy! I personally just use the app cause then you can see what offers are loaded up and I use apple pay so it makes the whole process a breeze. I'm not too sure if they still do the physical cards but if you go to Loblaw's they usually have a PC Financial stand near the checkout and they might have the PC Optimum points card there as well. (Be aware they will probably try to convince you to sign up for the PC Money or MasterCard. I personally find them worth it but don't feel pressured if you're not in the financial standings to do it)
@@dylankyang Thank u for ur response and I already use the app but sometimes I forget my phone at home and I would like to use the card sometimes, do u know how to get it?
I’m not too sure. I checked my local shoppers and didn’t see anything. But i feel like the best bet would be to go to Loblaws and ask the PC Financial team!
Hey Dylan! just subscribed to your channel. Learned a lot from your video! I got one question, How do you get coupons? and do you use/redeem coupons in-store or online?
Thanks Roman! For sure, so coupons can definitely get pretty complicated but to keep it brief and easy to do. This is what I'd recommend. - For the promotions and the bonus PC Optimum Points all you need is to open up the PC Optimum App and it'll auto load those offers for you. - For the couponing stuff it requires some deal hunting and coupon clipping all over the web. But the easiest one that I think has the most consolidated stuff that I've found is a site called save.ca Keep in mind my information may be outdated cause I don't frequent couponing sites super often anymore cuz it is some extra work. And I'm also in Ontario so it could be different in other provinces. But some extra places you could look at are like: flipp (coupons and flyers), smartsource (coupon?), and checkout51 (cashback). For the specific example I gave in this video I actually got the coupons from like Proctor and Gamble directly www.pggoodeveryday.com/coupons/. Oh and I printed them out and redeemed in-store (albeit there wasn't an online option at the time). --- TL;DR PC Optimum App --> Save.ca --> Look for direct brand loyalty coupon sites like www.pggoodeveryday.com/coupons/, tastyrewards (pepsi/lays?)
@@dylankyang Thanks very much for the detailed response! I feel like you should do a video on Coupons and stuff, haha! Appreciate you taking the time and responding to my query!
yea i dunno. its just the way they setup the system. I find that if you go and ONLY buy the things you do want at any of the stores. eventually they MAY start gearing "offers" to you for those items too.
Shoppers Drug Mart! You can get them at the bigger ones, they're often near highways or majour intersections. If not I think they sell most electronics online as well.
Thank you for all the tips Dylan. I’m quite new to the PC Optimum - PC Financial ecosystem. I recently received my PC Financial World Elite MasterCard and have used it almost daily at Superstore and Shoppers. I received my first MasterCard statement and went to PC Optimum to see if I was actually getting my 30 pts per dollar at Superstore and 45 its per dollar at Shoppers. Ouch! It looks like I might need to hire an auditor to figure out if I am actually getting all the points I should be getting. First, I need to be looking at both my MasterCard statement and my Optimum account to compare transactions. Store receipts seem to be pretty useless - they only show bonus points, not the 30 - 45 pts per dollar on purchases. Apparently they are awarded later. Second, there are no reference/transaction numbers to match items to points, and the purchase dates don’t seem to help much. Third, points don’t appear to be awarded all at once for a transaction - a $20 purchase at Superstore doesn’t seem to generate a 600 pt award - its 0 its on the receipt, then maybe 200 and maybe 400 later, but with no reference numbers I cannot be sure. Forth, I contacted PC Optimum a couple of times through chat and explained that I was having trouble reconciling my points. I received two canned replies right from the website - information that I had already read and that had nothing to do with reconciling points. I tried contacting again and didn’t get a reply. It appears that they are done with me - I was never nasty. Does anybody out there have this all figured out?
Hey Roger! Happy to be able to help somehow. lol that's a lot of questions so I'll try my best. 1. Yes, MasterCard points are treated as bonuses and are credited to your account as "PC Financial Earn" a few business days later. (I think this is to prevent giving points in case you return something?
lol so all these sites look super sketchy so just make sure the lock icon is in ur browser incase you're redirect to the wrong sketchy site. but you can find em on sites like: save.ca/coupons websaver.ca and depending on the stuff you buy usually their parent company has a site where you can signup and get free coupons. just look up "whatever company owns the products you wanna buy" coupon and they'll usually be listed
Hey @Rohit! I’m assuming you mean you got physical PC Optimum cards. If you got them (regular card and key card) at the same time. they should be the same card and it shouldn’t matter which card you use. (You can double check by seeing if the numbers match up) I personally use the PC Optimum app on my phone so i don’t have to carry as many cards around.
Around the 3:00 mark i try to break it down based on the level of MasterCard you have. For $50 gas would probably get you back around 900 points so $1? For $50 groceries not at shoppers you should be getting the min of: Reg MC - 500 pts so $0.50 World MC - 1000 pts for $1.00 World Elite MC - 1500 pts for $1.50 I know it doesn’t seem like much, but it adds up in the long run And then with coupons, events and what not you can increase the points. And then shoppers they up the points even more each tier, this is usually where i rack up majority of my points.
@@dylankyang OMG tks for the super fast reply dude. I'm a student and Im trying to find way to save money while having a bit of fun spending them without involving into too many complicated processes. Again, Thank you for the video and the reply!!
Thanks Dylan (for some extra info.). FYI ... not all grandparents need to be brought to a store on Senior's Day. Some of us can make it there on our own. 😅
Groceries are definitely harder to passively accrue points. Assuming you have the free PC Optimum Points Card with grocery stores you'll have to take a look at the offers in the mobile app (make sure they're loaded). Hopefully, that helps lmk. Side note: their credits card are easier to get points but its a credit card so you just have to be aware of making financially wise decisions
same. while its not a spend your points event they do have events that get you quite a bit of points back like this past black friday where you could get 40$ worth of points back for every $100 you spend which is pretty sick
Hey Dennis yes PC items can sometimes be more expensive but you don't have to ONLY buy PC products. Depending on how much effort you want to put into crunching numbers you can often find really good deals both monetary and/or points based. However it does take a bit more effort which is why I broke it down into three tiers/approaches. 1:58 The least thinking/effort required approach is to just to get a PC Mastercard and shop primarily at Shoppers. 6:23 Then the most way to save money would be to shop like you're couponing and using your card as often as possible so that their algorithm can gear more offers to your spending habits. Searching for deals takes a lot of effort but is important as it's how you'll make the most points for your dollar without overspending. Do things like combining sales with manufacturer coupons you can find and use them in conjunction with offers you'll get from the PC app*. *Good personalized offers will take some time cause they need more of your spending history to make better offers for you. Hey Ethel! I'm not sure what your question is here. But no unfortunately PC Optimum isn't paying me I think my channel is too small to be sponsored rn but if you could press subscribe and share the video that could help my channel grow and maybe in the future they can pay me lol! As for points linking that could mean two things: - If you're trying to join two accounts to create a household it's pretty simple to do in the app or online you just have to make sure that the person you're joining with has access to the email they created their account with and all you have to do is press link household. - If you're talking about like back in the day when Shoppers Optimum and PC Points joined together, I'm not sure what they're doing for that anymore. At the time I remember I did have to email their support team cause we did have an issue with some points not transferring but they were pretty quick to respond. Maybe try reaching out again by email, twitter or like any social media I think they're pretty ontop of everything right now. Hopefully someone can point you in the right direction. lol and if you talk to anyone maybe you can ask them if they'd like to pay me too!
But everything at Shoppers is SOOOOO OVERPRICED! I moved to Canada this year and I don't get this at all - you're excited about these points which you waste so much time keeping track of, when the events are... but you can just buy all that stuff elsewhere at a reasonable price to begin with and skip all this unnecessary labor. I walked through Shoppers and had Amazon open on my phone - everything was so much cheaper than at Shoppers, even with their so-called "SALE". Most items it was like this: on Shoppers tag it says $30 reg price, $25 sale price, and on Amazon it's $20 and not even on sale.
Welcome to Canada! Yea it can definitely get overwhelming. I guess we've been going to Shoppers for so long that I know what price my fave products should be like second nature. So when it's really expensive don't buy, and if there is a "promo" you'd just have to do some mental math to figure out if it's worth it to you or not. - points are exciting because on redemption days you can increase the value you have up to 30% so it's actually pretty clutch - it does seem difficult to track points but the PC optimum has an app that shows you the value you have on your account - absolutely, if you don't want to put the work in there are definitely cheaper alternatives to shoppers. This guide is just primarily so you can stack points and redeem them for fun stuff without spending too much money... but that requires work. I used to live beside a Shoppers which is how I learned this program inside out. but it really depends on how much effort you want to put in. If coupon clipping, deal hunting and optimizing points doesn't interest you lol this would be gruelling and I highly suggest against it. But it was fun for me that's why I made this guide so other ppl can enjoy it too. If you're trying to stay low-cost without thinking this probably isn't the best option for you. But if you want to give out PC optimum a try, a good rule of thumb to do mental math is 10,000 points is $10 (so just drop three 0's to figure out how much value you're getting back)

Great video! Few things beat that high you get when you see a huge grocery haul cost next to nothing after redeeming your points. 😂
Thanks so much!!! Lol ya its the best! I’m always excited to see how low the costs can get lol
Great tips! I’ll be looking to add in the coupons starting this week. I spend hours each week searching the flyers and offers for the best deals. It’s a labour of love.
thanks! lol ya honestly I've always found it v fun
You have to keep in mind that shoppers can be 30-50% more expensive than Walmart
U absolutely right!
So smart shopping is super key and learning the prices to your go to items are also super helpful to remember so that you don’t end up overspending.
Lol but i realize that not everyone wants to take things that far so for those that don’t want to think too hard.
Here’s my mental list of products that shoppers actually often sell cheaper or are on sale regularly
- eggs
- milk
- butter
- facial tissue
- bathroom tissue
- chips (Doritos sweet chilli heat my go to)
And cause i like the neutrogena face wash i often get bonus points when theyre on sale. The more you use the app the more theyll be able to cater offers and promotions for you.
They price match with Walmart

lol happy to help! Good luck lmk if you have any questions 😁
Great info, will follow your guidelines and see what happens 😀.
Hi Dylan! So I have the elite master card, that gives me 45 point per dollar. On 20x days I get 900 points per dollar??? That is 0.9$ back for each dollar !!! Right? It's so sus!
Hey Zara,
Thanks for the comment!
So as a result on 20x your points events:
regular pc Optimum members usually get about 30% back in points
And as a World Elite MasterCard holder you can get around 33% back.
Which is why stacking offers and coupons are the main driver to help raise your return to the next level.
Also MasterCard points don’t appear on the receipt right away, you’ll get them a few business days later into your account.
I tried my best to explain that but let me know if I’m not making any sense.
@@dylankyang omg thank you Dylan for such a clear response!! I appreciate your time man! Thanks

When is the x20 bonus points thing? Or the weekly 50$ in store thingy? I always miss thr weekly offers as i dont know when they happen

For a set it and forget it method i cover that at 1:58
But if you prefer reading, a tl;dr to your questions:
1. yes you need 1000 points for $1. But you’re only allowed to redeem in $10 increments. Ie 10,000 points (20k, 30k, etc.)
2. the amount required to earn 1000 points vary:
If you don’t do anything but scan the card it’s about a 1.5% return at Shoppers and a >1% at gas stations. So about $66-100 (Which is decent considering it’s not even a credit card)
But if you want more points then check out 6:23
this is why i made this video because there are many more opportunities like:
- loading offers in your app so you can get more points while you shop (groceries, gas, shoppers) you can get points alot quicker
Ex: get 200 pts for every $1 spent on apples
Approx 20% return so that’ll get you to 1000 pts in $5.
- Or combining credit cards bonuses, events, coupons and offers you can get close to 50% return in points. It’s all in the video
If anyone is new, run your bills through the credit card, pay it immediately and grow your credit and points
Love this. Thank you very much!
Hi Dylan, great video..I'm new to pc but how do I actually load the offers?
Thanks so much Debby! No worries, I think they've actually made it easier since I filmed this video. I think they've pre-loaded the offers so all you need to do is open the app and scan your card.
Hi, Dylan, I just want to ask, how do I get the the PC optimum card so I can scan it.

But the easiest one that I think has the most consolidated stuff that I've found is a site called save.ca
Keep in mind my information may be outdated cause I don't frequent couponing sites super often anymore cuz it is some extra work.
---
TL;DR
PC Optimum App --> Save.ca --> Look for direct brand loyalty coupon sites like www.pggoodeveryday.com/coupons/, tastyrewards (pepsi/lays?)
@@dylankyang Thanks very much for the detailed response! I feel like you should do a video on Coupons and stuff, haha! Appreciate you taking the time and responding to my query!
Lololol thanks so much for such a kind comment! That’s a good idea I’ll take a look into what i can make lol 😄
why don't i get points on everything i buy at RCS there weekly offers are things I usually don't want?
yea i dunno. its just the way they setup the system. I find that if you go and ONLY buy the things you do want at any of the stores. eventually they MAY start gearing "offers" to you for those items too.
Which store could you buy cameras and TVs from thats PC optimum?
Shoppers Drug Mart!
You can get them at the bigger ones, they're often near highways or majour intersections. If not I think they sell most electronics online as well.
Great overview !
thank you!!
@@dylankyang Thanks for the response Dylan -- and super quick to boot! I'm taking your advice and setting up a spreadsheet. Thanks for the tip.
I am in the same boat. Seems like the most confusing point system ever!! Calling them is zero help.
Only question is how do u redeem pc points?
My bad! Whenever you cash out at the cashier all you need to do is present ur points card and ask to redeem
And you can also redeem online too (at shoppers at least, not sure about the other stores)
Where can I find coupons?
lol so all these sites look super sketchy so just make sure the lock icon is in ur browser incase you're redirect to the wrong sketchy site. but you can find em on sites like:
save.ca/coupons
websaver.ca
and depending on the stuff you buy usually their parent company has a site where you can signup and get free coupons. just look up "whatever company owns the products you wanna buy" coupon and they'll usually be listed
There are two cards .. One is card and other is key card., which one to use
Hey @Rohit!
I’m assuming you mean you got physical PC Optimum cards.
If you got them (regular card and key card) at the same time. they should be the same card and it shouldn’t matter which card you use. (You can double check by seeing if the numbers match up)
I personally use the PC Optimum app on my phone so i don’t have to carry as many cards around.
Thanks for the great video!
the best video i ever seen!
Thanks so much!!!
I just got a PC masterCard. I’m not sure how much points I get if I were to spend $50 on groceries or gas?
Around the 3:00 mark i try to break it down based on the level of MasterCard you have.
For $50 gas would probably get you back around 900 points so $1?
For $50 groceries not at shoppers you should be getting the min of:
Reg MC - 500 pts so $0.50
World MC - 1000 pts for $1.00
World Elite MC - 1500 pts for $1.50
I know it doesn’t seem like much, but it adds up in the long run And then with coupons, events and what not you can increase the points.
And then shoppers they up the points even more each tier, this is usually where i rack up majority of my points.
So just to be clear. I dont have to register for a mastercard account but still be able to earn points with the app right?
Ya not necessary to have a Mastercard credit card with them. Their regular points can still be earned with the app
@@dylankyang OMG tks for the super fast reply dude. I'm a student and Im trying to find way to save money while having a bit of fun spending them without involving into too many complicated processes. Again, Thank you for the video and the reply!!

Lets goooooooooo that's huge!!! 💪💪💪
So did u scan the card or hoe is it??
U got to buy presidents choice its way more expensive

Did optimum pc points paying you because they did not resolve my points linking , stop
Hey Ethel!
I'm not sure what your question is here. But no unfortunately PC Optimum isn't paying me I think my channel is too small to be sponsored rn but if you could press subscribe and share the video that could help my channel grow and maybe in the future they can pay me lol!
As for points linking that could mean two things:
- If you're trying to join two accounts to create a household it's pretty simple to do in the app or online you just have to make sure that the person you're joining with has access to the email they created their account with and all you have to do is press link household.
I need a new couch and furnitu]re
- points are exciting because on redemption days you can increase the value you have up to 30% so it's actually pretty clutch
- it does seem difficult to track points but the PC optimum has an app that shows you the value you have on your account
- absolutely, if you don't want to put the work in there are definitely cheaper alternatives to shoppers.
But if you want to give out PC optimum a try, a good rule of thumb to do mental math is 10,000 points is $10 (so just drop three 0's to figure out how much value you're getting back)
2024 lifes not that great for points anymore.
