All my life, I saw my parents fight, scream, cry, break things, sleep in different rooms, leave for months at a time, and I never understood it as a child. I used to see all of my friends with happy parents and see the love that they shared and I remember wishing my parents could one day be that way. Once I grew up, I was old enough to understand that my mother and father were completely toxic for one another. It wasn’t until I reached my adult life that they finally divorced after 40 years. I often wonder, had they realized sooner that they were too toxic for one another, could they have spared myself and my brothers and sisters a lot of pain. He slammed my head into my knee and knocked my front teeth out. It sucks and traumatized me as a child and now as a father I plan to have my child never see that. Ive been with my wife for 7 years now and I plan to make it forever. I plan to have my children never know that pain.
I never saw love between my parents, they divorced almost three years ago and although my father never put any effort into their relationship I still have to hear comments he makes regarding my mother which are not pleasant to listen to

As someone who came from a broken home where I was forced to watch my mother and father fight, abuse, substance abuse, and feeling obligated to fight for my mother... This song captured the trauma and pain that i still to this day carry with me. Watching my mother try to find love in the wrong people after my father left which lead to so much fighting, screaming, tears, and what felt like hell every day. Some days i just wanted to run away and hide. I had a little fort when I was 13 across the street in a small bamboo out cropping. It felt huge to me, a jungle. I got lost in there for hours. Hiding and hoping when I went home (after I ran out of peanut butter and jelly sandwhiches) everything would be better. I cried so many nights to God asking him to save my mom and me from the constant pain. Growing up in such a toxic and draining environment can be so impactful for the rest of your life. So many people suffer from this. Thank you so much for making this song! I hope someone out there who i dealing with this or even themselves partaking in this can hear this song and it will open their eyes and bring them some peace. I grew up in a very stable home, but I was always the kid to help other kids who did grow up in bad homes. I literally stopped one of my friends LAST NIGHT from almost ending his life because he thinks his life has nothing good. Worst part, he was most right. This song was part of what stopped him.

What I love the most about this video is seeing how our arguments, all the screaming and yelling, is affecting our daughter. It is so hard to put yourself in the shoes of your child when you are so blinded by anger. My husband and do NOT have a toxic relationship but we do argue every now and then that sometimes turn into a heated fight. I will definitely try my hardest to step outside of myself and think about my actions before I end up saying or doing something that may cause irreparable damage to my daughter. Omg this video made me cry. I never understood why two people stay together when they all they do is fight. Especially when they put innocent children thru it too. I am so sorry you had to be put thru that as well. I never knew my father but I never lived with my mom either because she abandoned me at 3 years old. But the first aunt that raised me until I was 11 had a husband and a string of boyfriends that was mentally, emotionally and physically abusive to her. Thankfully me and my 4 siblings were taken out of that home not that it got much better in the next aunts home. We survived tho. I love the messages you are sending with your music. I grew up in a very stable home, but I was always the kid to help other kids who did grow up in bad homes. I literally stopped one of my friends LAST NIGHT from almost ending his life because he thinks his life has nothing good. Worst part, he was most right. This song was part of what stopped him.

I don't come from a home that is this broken. But I do have a 6 year old daughter with my husband of 9 years. What I love the most about this video is seeing how our arguments, all the screaming and yelling, is affecting our daughter. It is so hard to put yourself in the shoes of your child when you are so blinded by anger. My husband and do NOT have a toxic relationship but we do argue every now and then that sometimes turn into a heated fight. I will definitely try my hardest to step outside of myself and think about my actions before I end up saying or doing something that may cause irreparable damage to my daughter. Thank you for sharing such a private glimpse into your past with us. Awesome video!
