I was a patient of Dr. Schulman for my tummy tuck and lipo 360. I’m a mom of two kids. I also suffered from diastasis recti and an umbilical hernia. I thought I could just get lipo and that would solve my problem. Big no no, I did a virtual consultation and Dr. Schulman educated me with facts vs the myths I was leaning towards. My last 2 kids were big babies and tore my abs up. I also have a pretty large diastasis recti and hernia. How did he repair your hernia? How long did it take you to return to work?

@@chayamadhu8043 I purchased his personal scar ointment that helped a lot. I am satisfied with how it healed. It’s flat and there’s no scar tissue. However I did have a tattoo around my waist. So the remainder of my tattoo can get mistaken for a dark scar.

With a panniculectomy they don’t repair your muscles and a lot of insurance covers it if it’s affecting your health or skin. Tummy tucks come with lipo and muscle repair and insurance doesn’t cover it.
I have a tattoo right around my mid section, would a tummy tuck make it look different since skin is being cut off?

Do you charge the same for a Tummy Tuck with abdominal muscle repair vs a Tummy Tuck without muscle repair? Are you able to tell during the consultation or that’s something you determine during the procedure?
The prices really depend on exactly what needs to be done for each person, so it isn't necessarily correct that it is cheaper to not get a muscle repair. These are the types of things we discuss during the consultation and I am usually able to determine during the consult if muscle repair is needed.
I have a question, Doc ! The skin that is removed during the surgery ... is it trashed 🗑 or is it donated to burn victims? TIA , 🇨🇦

Dr Schulman, I aksed my primary care physician, and she said I do not have diastasis rectus... will I still need muscle repari in my tummy tuck? Thanks!!
Even if there is no separation, most can still benefit from "tightening" the muscles anyway. Also, it is often hard to diagnose a small diasthasis and we have a much better look when we are in surgery.

What if you have done an operation before during childbirth can you still do a tummy tuck
I’m 69 and very healthy and active. I’m 5’5 and 135 lbs. I’ve had 3 children plus age plays a factor in my low belly skin. Am I a candidate for a tummy tuck?

@@debdd7 Hi Debbie, I’m 5’0” and I had gained a tremendous about of weight over the years and in the last year dropped down to 103 pounds(weight loss of 78 lbs). Interestingly I didn’t have much of abdominal pannus but the skin was in horrible condition…enough for me to search for some type of treatment. I thought perhaps a skintyte procedure would do the trick so I searched for a plastic surgeon who offered this procedure, after the consultation it was recommended abdominoplasty with plication (muscle tightening). I was quite nervous but moved forward with procedure. I am extremely pleased thus far with the outcome.
I did have thoughts of am I nuts for considering this at my age? Yes I did but no regrets at 10 days post op. Debbie, whatever decision you make I wish you the best.

Can you get a tummy tuck and liposuction without tightening the muscles if the muscles are not separated? Why are plastic surgeons including this procedure if the abdominal muscles are not separated.? Are the reasons why because of the cost? Why charge me for something I don't need? Please explain. Not sure what you want me to explain. Every tummy tuck is different. Some need more skin removal, some need muscle repair, some need lipo, some need hernia repairs, etc. If you don't need muscle repair, than you don't get muscle repair. The prices are based on exactly what needs to be done which is why prices will vary between patients.

Does liposuction and tummy tuck always should be done together? If the expectation is to remove pouch belly, no previous pregnancies, normal BMI.
It is impossible to answer that without actually examining you, but IMHO adding liposuction to the tummy tuck makes the results better. I usually do some liposuction in about 90% of my tummy tucks. I hope that helped.

Is it bad to get a tummy tuck if you haven’t had kids? And not sure if you will in the future?
I tightened my abdominals no surgery I'll never be 100 % pre pregnancy. But it is possible do try very hard before you resort to a surgery especially in this economy.
Hi doctor ,What about doing radio frequency , cavitation, vella shape and sculpting shape machine does it really help for tightening the abdominal muscle ?
no. None of those devices will correct rectus muscle separation
why is a mini tuck sometimes only needed?
Some people only have small excess skin below the belly button and no muscle separation, making a mini TT an option.
