Between Djokovic and Sinner, who’s backhand would you rather have?

Getting to contact at the same time, could we say that Nole is getting “some” amount of power from gravity as well as his little lag versus Sinner which is BIG lag and very little gravity force?

That’s a good point. Novak has much more of a drop down because he’s not relying on the “lag effect” to generate pace. Sinner is undoubtedly generating more racket head speed with a smaller swing. Which is a sign of better efficiency. Getting more with less.

I think less of a lag, and more just using gravity can mean greater consistency as it's easier to time vs. super whippy lag BH.
    So consistency vs power

Be sure to cover tactically the Alcaraz vs Novak match!
I think you should have covered the wrist differences. Novak stated that he locks his wrist for his backhand. SInner has a very loose wrist.

Thanks for pointing that out. Sometimes as you go through the technique differences/similarities you forget some small details here and there. I’m in the process of doing a deep dive breakdown of the Wimby final, hopefully have that up by the end of the week.

@@TennisUnleashed Yeah. On this particular video, Sinner isn't too wristy here. Easy to overlook.

Consider the stances-neutral vs closed has a big impact on racket path.

Not a bad thought but Sinner isn’t by definition in a closed stance here. Novak’s swing is just different than Jannik’s. I’m actually surprised Novak hasn’t switched over to a “lag style” backhand. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it must be his thought process with it.
