- The Boule consists of members of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity. It was founded in 1904 as a way for professional Black men to network as white business organizations weren't open to them. The Boule consisted of businessmen, politicians, government officials, educators, and medical professionals. Though the organization doesn't have collegiate chapters, they have a congenial relationship with members of Kappa Alpha Psi, Omega Psi Phi, Alpha Phi Alpha, Phi Beta Sigma, and Iota Phi Theta. This organization boasts members such as, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Dr. W.E.B. DuBois, Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, Ralph Bunche, Douglas Wilder, Congressman John Lewis and many other very successful Black American men.
This video discusses the Boule and tells what it does and the impact has on the African American community. And though there are Black people that are critical of the organization and view them as a menace to the community, this video explains who they are and the importance of their presence in the African American community.

Hi Janet, Thanks for your comments. I agree there's much work to be done in the Black community(ies). The video tells some of the things that are being done by fraternities and sororities. I urge you to ask what the church and other organizations are doing to help our communities. We can work together to help each other and that works better than us criticizing and fighting each other.

Remember under imperialism at some point the imperialists elevate quite a percentage of their subordinate population, because generally the imperialist population is much smaller than the people it rules over and as it becomes more efficient it recruits from the people it rules over to help it in its ruling relationship. The elevation of these people mean they can join their masters in manipulating the behavior of the rest of us. They can be used as symbols by their masters to falsely show that the society is fair, that it provides an even playing field for those in it and that those then that don’t make it are suffering from some kind of deficiency in their personality. This is sometimes referred to as neocolonialism. In essence, the system will allow a handful of members of the professional managerial class, Black Bourgeois and high elected officials just to keep the masses impressed and salivating. Give a few, to get a lot!

The point was made at the beginning. The difference between Booker T. Washington's organization and the other. One is for all that strive for betterment of our people from the bottom up. While the latter is from the top down. One is patterned after the lower house of Greek legislature hence "the Boule". While Booker T. Washington's organization and others like his don't follow that pattern. It's deeper and much more complicated. I'm trying to keep it simple and short this is just a post. There are two types of minds that have been at odds among our people here in the US.

One mind sent is a more common sense approach. Bottom up meaning a foundational approach. Knowing how to do all trades and manufacturing and letting all other goals springboard from that. The example I like to use is if you have a car and it malfunctions you are at the mercy of the one who can fix it and manufacture it. So it doesn't matter if you have a car one mishap and it's done your at someone else's mercy. Now the other mind set is intellectual first the top down approach. The lower house approach "Boule" that is to put your focus on intelligentsia. Getting close to and pattering oneself after the higher house. Which thrives on exclusivity, secrecy, and deception. Now if you pattern yourself after, you will undoubtedly carry some of these traits. Though you are in proximity you are still excluded, kept in the dark through secrets, and deception. The lower house understands this yet does receive some privileges and influence particularly over their kind. Even at times able to do some good for the people by employing some tactics of the upper house, yet this is not the norm. But why? Because intelligentsia isn't focused on being ones own master but being in proximity and a possible seat at the table in the upper house. It's much deeper and layers and I'm attempting to keep it short.

Sounds like two methodologies attempting to solve the same problems. From what I read Booker T felt that education in trades was most important which made the white establishment comfortable. Which is why most black schools were trade schools. DuBoise, felt that higher education in more professional schools as dentistry, medicine, law, etc. a more liberal arts education which whites were more opposed to this type of education for blacks. Both had 1/2 of the solution to our problem.

I’m here because I just listened to a testimony of a woman that pledged DST in the early 80’s. Some years later, she accepted Jesus as her savior, and denounced her affiliation with DST, because she became aware of the ungodly covenant she formed with the organization and their Greek goddess, the rituals. She denounced her membership and had her name taken off their roles

I hear you talk a lot about Booker T Washington, what about his speech ‘The Atlanta Compromise?’ That black people should keep subservient to white people in order to get along. Booker T was of mixed race’ his father being a slave master that he didn’t know, so he definitely had to still be pleasing to them and his slave mother should always bow to whites. White people loved that speech.
Black people are still subservient to a white system, the same system that was in place during Booker T. Washington's time.

Very well stated. I am not a member of any part of the Boule but my thinking has evolved. They had contributed more to the African American community than "the street". I used to dislike the Classism symbolized by the Boule and the Devine Nine while I have close family members that have been part of these groups. I do not like the fighting among Greek organization that I witnessed while attending college but I have volunteered to assist them in their many community services. After watching the ravages of the Crack Wars and the wave of anti-intellectualism in the Black Community, organizations like the Boule are needed. We needed to expect people to be forward thinking instead of conspiracy theorists.
