he said that nobody would actually listen to him,.that he would tell them whats wrong but nobody seems to understand that everything build up inside him all his imperfections cannot just simply go away. jonghyun really wanted somebody to liten, understand and connect with him. and just tell him that he was doing good. that he was doing ok. this is literally going to change the way i see kpop and it also makes me worry for some who ive seen show this kind of behavior.i cried for about an hour when i dont even really know him but it hurt me to see others who know him for more than ten years those who were close to him cry.
Nobody listened and understood him if somebody would have then he would be still alive with his genuine and angelic smile with so much gentle, kind and caring as well heartwarming behaviour.
Gosh I miss him so much he was truly an angel.🥲🥲🥲
I guess most celebrities will feel sadder for Jonghyun's death as they somehow understand what he felt.The pressure as a celebrity, a public figure. If he died due to other reason, it's much easier for others to move on but knowing Jonghyun committed suicide, they must feel bad for not being able to help him.
justnuna it's not only "the pressure as a celebrity, a public figure " he suffered from depression, any non-celebrity who suffers from depression can feel him and understand what life was like for him before he committed suicide.
the exchange of being famous is to deprived them to be themselves act like a robot you can't do things you want because a lot of eyes are in you 😔

On top of that you have the crazy ass fan-bases who are ready to crucify you for things like having a love life. Celebrity life is not just glitz and glamour, especially in S. Korea. The business is a very dark one.

I agree with you. it so sad but the reality for artist many of the times is this.
I wish they would have a help system inside of the agencies. That would alert and teach the staff and artist the signs of suicide and the proper way to help those in need.
Yep... a lot of them in the industry said that they dont feel happy with their job and if they can go back... they wouldnt choose this path... just like what jonghyun wrote in the letter... and taeyeon also said that idol is a really lonely job... it is so sad that behind those sparks and glamour there are lonely souls hiding in the dark... we obv cannot judge them from the outside...
The company expects you to portray a specific persona, the obsessed fans, the source of their income, lap it up like dogs, the company keeps the pressure on to ensure the idol maintains that persona. The fans keep lapping it up and the pressure cycles. What do you end up with? Nothing but the shell of a person who begins to lose themselves. Does the company care? No. As long as the fans keep lapping it up the company keeps pumping out their product. Idols are a renewable resource and replaceable. As long as there are fans there will be idols. As long as the fans aspire to that life there will be replacements.

I wish I could explain this to everyone in this world to resist mental pain before anything heartbreaking happened.

I hope tomorrow the story changed.
When I watch this I don't just see grief at losing someone, I see the faces of fellow entertainers who understand the struggle. There needs to be better support for these artists who are struggling, too many people assume they have everything and that they should be happy and content but this isn't always the case. The entertainment industry can be an incredibly isolating environment, it can mess with your head as it clearly messed with this lost soul. I hope that he finds peace on the other side and I hope that the industry starts taking more steps to ensure their artists aren't just healthy physically, but mentally and emotionally.
I didn't cry when I first heard the news I honestly didn't know what to do being someone who doesn't easily express their emotions but watching this made it all too real, seeing his friends & all these people saying goodbye. I sincerely hope artists & actors out there never are in the situation to feel they aren't good enough or need to live up to an expectation however it's hard to wish for that because even if they aren't burden by outside expectations the ones they set for themselves are harder to withstand.
To the artists we love: Dont pressure yourselves too much, don't think you're not good enough & don't forget you are not just your title you are a person. For some of us you guys are our happiness & don't want you to suffer so it's ok to be selfish and think about you & your well-being we your fans understand.

When I first heard about Jonghyun’s death, it was from my mom. She had texted me to see if I was okay but she was vague and didn’t tell me who had died. I’m not a Shinee fan, although I’ve been trying to find time to get into them, anyways, once everything was cleared up I didn’t cry but I was shocked. After watching these I began to cry though and if I could turn back time then I would and I hope that Jonghyun is at peace wherever he is. Stay strong Shinee fans! Stay strong Shinee! ok so many people are saying about suicide is not the solution. people who say that are people who have never hit rock bottom like jong hyun had. it is difficult to explain what depression can do to a person. Please do not ever say suicide is not the solution while people battling with depression have been always looking out for solution, always. You will never understand how it feels like to live day after day with that void and pain and thoughts in your head. It hurts so much that you already felt you are dead. It feels like a living hell with no hope to reach out for. doctors or suicide lines they are all bullshit, they only tell you to do what you should do as a human being, they never understood the feelings that are going underneath.
People with depression, sadly, often felt no one love them for who they are. They are the ones who wear a smile on their face everyday, and are the ones you thought they are happy. They will never let you know who they are, because trust me, they have tried to show their real self, but no one likes it. so they thought, hiding behind a mask will make people understand them more. and funny thing is, when they wear a mask, people show them positive respond. That is why they thought to themselves, no one will like the real me. isn't it true, world?
I have never been a fan of any kpop groups but seeing the news, it makes me sad.
I have been battling with depression, and is still a work in progress for me.
Suicide is the last thing I think of doing, because it requires a huge courage.

medicines and doctors do nothing but telling you a text of book to follow. they do not care about your wellbeing at all, all they do is to get paid. ever wonder why counselling still require payment? the world is cruel, only money talks even when a life is screaming for help.
to jong hyun: I know you felt no one cared even when they showed concern, you felt it wasn't real. you felt they wouldn't show you any love if you showed them your true self. it is ok not to be ok. you know, people with depression aren't the weakest, they are actually meant to be the strongest. you have pulled through so much on your own, and even when you explained yourself, some people still don't understand. it is just like how you speak and no one is listening. I know it felt that way. I won't tell you anything because you won't be reading this. but what I can do is, to spread more awareness about depression.
depression is like cancer, but worse than that. no one knows, no one cares. because it can't be seen. it eats you up slowly, and before you know it, you're already on your breaking point.it is a void inside you that no matter what you do, its still empty. do you get it now, people?

I can complete understand your point of view, only people who suffered depression can relate. I was at my breaking point, I thought about it... but as you said, it needs a lot of courage. I've been there. Is horrible to feel that way, that no matter what you do you can't just get any better. It's like eating you alive. I hope people stop saying that speaking of this is a encouragement to commit suicide, we just want to tell how we feel, inside, we want to explain so people can understand us. Is not a bad thing at all. You want to help? Just listen and don't judge us.
so you're saying people who don't chose to die is less bad than people who choose themselves to end their lives? people who die from a disease didn't choose to die. also, lots of people were at their breaking point, not knowing how to go on with their lives but still tried to get better rather than just ending it. suicide is never the answer and you saying it is, is just terrible. As a fan of SHINee, my heart and soul is in deep pain, I can't contain my tears every time I think of what happened, and...I've already problems with anxiety and depressing thoughts...All this feels like a stab. Fortunately my family can pay my treatment (sadly all requires money) and they understands me, but there's thousands of people over there that don't have anyone to support and understand them...and that's horrible, even Jonghyun on his letter said that the doctor didn't bring any help at all. I hope more people will understand this.
