    First console released by Sega in the United States. In Japan, sg-1000 and Mark III have been released previously.

      The SG1000 never got released in the US, it was the SMS for the US. The SG1000 only released in JP, AU and TW.

    If you cut the trace to pin 19 of 315-5216 ic then add a wire from pin 19 to the IORQ# pad on the FM board you can enable Japanese FM mode & see the consoles screen light up saying MARK III & even change some title screens like Aztec Adventurs becomes Nazca '88 depending on region selected.

    Ahhh the Master System. I was a Sega kid. Once I saw Rocky on display at Macy's I was hooked. Phantasy Star is the highlighted memory of my Sega Master System years. Great work as usual George.

    After hearing the Space Harrier theme built-in to the BIOS of some Japanese consoles compared to the same SMS BIOS running on a Mega Everdrive Pro with FM sound, I gotta say: It was COMPLETELY different. The Mega ED Pro wasn’t even close. Considering it isn’t the original FM chip in this mod kit, do you have any clue how this compares?

    • @LIRetroGaming
      @LIRetroGaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a really good question and I actually don’t know the answer! I need to get some recordings of what the original FM chip sounds like. My understanding is that this chip is a modern re-creation of it but I can’t be sure of how accurate it is

      It comes with the sms fm board from Tim Worthington. Thankfully, you don’t have to worry about finding it on your own

    Sega master has L/R composite video cable?

    • @LIRetroGaming
      @LIRetroGaming  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It uses the same composite video cable as a model one Genesis, and it has mono sound only

    Leave my baby alone....

    • @LIRetroGaming
      @LIRetroGaming  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For what it's worth, this addon can easily be removed to return a system to its stock condition. Non-destructive mods are always the way to go in my opinion.

    • @hellbillymods45
      @hellbillymods45 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LIRetroGaming Agree, anything to protect or improve a console while keeping its integrity. If I would "leave my babies alone" then half of my consoles with disc laser readers would be dead and forgotten. Instead, I buy consoles literally labeled as "junk" on eBay because the disc reader failed and mod them with ODEs - not only bringing them back to life, but increasing their value two, threefold. All hail console modding, especially no cut mods. I for one, look forward to getting an FM kit for my model 1 SMS, which already has the region switch mod and the Everdrive.
