Depends what you mean by martyr. In general, the first martyr would be any biblical figure who was killed for their faith, probably from the old testament. After Jesus' birth, John the Baptist. After Christianity is founded, Stephen. May all martyrs pray for us.
Im pretty sure ppl were dying for many reasons they believed to be right back then. Everyone who died for a belief is A martyr. And there were many before Jesus. Jesus just did it better.
