This entire maintenance series has been so satisfying and inspiring. My flowerbeds overwhelm me every year, but this system seems to work so well I think I'll add some next year. Thanks for this!
I SO agree!
I agree :) before watching this I'd started splitting areas in the garden but I'm going to do a proper plan this weekend I think :)
I've already seperated my gardens into zones based on this series. It's brilliant. I added trimming to mine because I have more grass, and lumped like things together rather than specific spaces all next to each other based on what each area needs weekly. I can't wait to start using it
I have added two rose plants, one Queen Elizabet climbing rose. To one end of my garden and everything filled in so well.
It is a good idea to organize your flower bed schedule. I have front and back gardens here in N.Stockton.
Laura, since hearing you talk about your zone maintenance in the garden, I have adapted doing the same not only my garden but also for chores inside the house. Doing so has helped me stay organized. I accomplish my work faster and just like you said, have more time to enjoy everything!! As always, thank you so much for sharing!! 🥰💜😘
Agree totally with you !
I've also started zone areas in house and outdoors. Hoping it helps me be more organized and not so overwhelmed by all the things! 😊
Good ideas!!!
Wow that’s very cool.you must be. Very hardworking and intelligent woman
Laura can we be friends maybe get too know about each other more better
I loved this series! It was super helpful and interesting to see how you structure and actually manage it all, and the video format was deeply satisfying to watch: it’s so lovely to see change happening and things being tidied up. I liked this mix of you talking us through each zone and task, before we can just relax and enjoy seeing you follow through on the work, and then see the end result again at normal speed
I commented about this video format, too, but you said it better! This one was perfection! 💚
Agreed, really loved the structure / format of this series. Well said :)
Took a glass of wine and a notebook out to my garden to plan my own zones. Great idea. I take this approach to housecleaning inside but never thought about it outside. lol.
I'm midway through the process of redoing major sections of the garden to make it more "senior" friendly. I figure I've got only a couple of years left of agressive gardening (double digging, hauling rocks for ponds, etc.). I'm trying to get more seating in, building a greenhouse (not a Hartley, alas), a few raised veggie beds, and lots of perennials. So far so good. Really happy with the results. I've got a couple of major projects to finish up before freeze up this year and a couple of major projects for next year and then the entire garden has been renovated. Your zones will give me time to stay on top of the rest of the garden while I throw myself into the "projects".
I get the senior friendly planning. I'm about to turn 60. ( How in the world did that happen so fast?) I've been doing the same thing and also planning seating areas so I have more nice places to sit while I'm doing my chores or just to sit in the evening and admire the scenery.
This series has been so so so helpful to me. It's encouraging and affirming that I've been near the right track. Although, I've been kind of an "I see it, I do it" type. The best thing about this is, I see it and it can wait until it's day to get done! That's gonna be and has already been so freeing!!!
Happy gardening!
Same !
Shari, thank you for sharing your garden planning process. I'm right where you are.
I planned on adding two more perennial beds this year. Bulged a disc in my back in early spring and haven't been able to rake care of anything. It was a wake-up call. I am 64 this year, it is time to stop adding beds and figure out what needs to be done so that I can take care of what is close to the house. Bummer, but that's life.
@@itzyourgurladdy7994 oh no.. that’s my fear. I hope you have a better summer next year.
I so love the voice over of the actual maintenance in lieu of music. Even though you go through what you will be tackling at the beginning of the video, it helps to understand where you are and what you are doing. So glad you did this series. Thanks so much.
It's looking a beautiful day in Arkansas.... may each of you be richly blessed today!
Nice comment Tammy
It is looking like we r going to get a much needed beautiful day of rain in MN....may each of you be richly blessed!
I love how you have organized this overwhelming job into manageable tasks. So often I look at things as hopeless and as a result, do nothing and of course the issues get worse. I love the super speed with voice over but I also like it when there are three Lauras' working at once. Thank you so much for helping me to see that I can do this! By the way I'm pretty sure that your audience would watch you do Laundry if you made a video because somehow you would make it interesting and fun.
🤣 I love and agree with your comment, Ginger!” 😍💚
LOVED this series! I vote to also film a video of the weekly tasks…it would be a nice finale to this garden maintenance series! And thank you for bringing us along as you work in your beautiful gardens! I always feel so refreshed and inspired afterwards!💚🌸
Love the narrative over the work you are doing rather than the "music/speeded up video" and explaining what you did after. And it's even better when Aaron is with you and he can zoom in on what you are doing. I need to implement the zone chore list--you are so inspiring. Love the channel!!
This was the first year I am so far ahead of my weeds. Normally at this time I am just catching up on weeding from what over grew from n the spring! Doing a little bit regularly really helps. I can’t wait until my new perennials grow in as well giving less space for weeds! Laura is the main reason for my garden successes! Thank you Laura! I would love to see more weekly chore videos.
That’s so cool 😎
Thanks! BTW, I have been able to get into weeding parts of the yard I never had time for before. All because of my zoning system like Laura’s!
@@mukthatumkur3324 so have you started doing it now,am sure your a very fast leaner
@@maxinema7163 Yep, started doing this garden maintenance by zones just after Laura's videos were released. I have a suburban lot, so it isn't big, but this method helps me to not get overwhelmed. Also, as I am going through the maintenance, I am making my list of bigger projects which need to be done. The key is to stay on top of things. I am sure you will be able to get this started if you need to.
@@mukthatumkur3324 that’s so true you must be a very hardworking and intelligent woman,I would like too know more about you if you don’t mind can I get your gmail so we could text
I love watching you do maintenance episodes because it gives me a real time schedule of what I should be doing in my own garden. I’ve been trying to “watch and then do” for the last 6 months or so and my garden is thriving!
🌼Good day to all! It’s always a welcome sight to see Laura in her ‘zone’ each day, a very welcome respite from one’s difficulties in life. Thank you for the sunshine this morning, Laura. Praying for our friends and family suffering storm conditions and fire destruction in our beautiful USA. 🙏🌺🌸🌼🌻🍃
Laura, thank you for demonstrating your daily maintenance series. Yes, I think adding your weekly maintenance would be a perfect accompanying video to round it out. As the heat and humidity dies back in my southern climate, I will be tackling my 2-1/2 acres in a similar fashion. I’ve long wanted to add beds around the house and outbuildings but couldn’t figure out how to keep it all going. These last few videos have demonstrated a way to make it possible! Thanks for all you do.
These zone videos have been amazing. I often feel that my weekends are bogged down with gardening, setting aside an hour an evening has been so helpful...i may actually get to sit and enjoy the garden this weekend...first time in years. As much as i love gardening ,and i do love it, it is also nice to enjoy the fruits of our labor. I have a qtr acre that my home sits on and its just me to take care of it, on top of having a full time job. These videos are a blessing. Thank you.
I really like this format. The fast but still thorough overview and then the timelapses. It just feels like a really efficient video.
Laura I definitely think we would all appreciate your weekly maintenance video added to this series. It gives inspiration. It also shows how we Can simplify our garden maintenance routine 🙂
Laura, I love how you work in the Hartley in no matter where you are and what you do ! That is such a BEAUTIFUL structure i enjoy seeing it from all different angles!!! Keep doing it! It totally inspires me to shape my half of city block yard into THE garden i LOVE... I keep learning that whatever was here before me doesn’t have to stay
Well thank yourself you helped buy it.they didn't.
@@tracielansing535 they are the ones working their butts off putting out hundreds of videos over the past few years.. all we do is sit on our butts with a cup of coffee in one hand and our phones in the other watching the videos.
Pretty sure they did more to pay for the Hartley than you or I did.
Your jealousy is showing, tuck that back in.
All we see is a happy lady gardening on the screen, but we forget that Garden Answer is a team of content creators. They make and edit videos all year, come up with topics to fill up the entire year, they are teachers as they are teaching us valuable garden lessons, and on top of that they don't seem to break a sweat and look a hot mess as I always do when I garden. They also invest all their money back into their gardening, spending their own money on supplies, giving back to the community, and as Laura has said before they don't even take vacations so that they can focus all their efforts and money on their business. We did not buy that Hartley, their hard work and business provided it along with the income they make to survive. If you have a problem with that you can always not watch...or you can start creating content on gardening, become successful at it, and buy your own Hartley. 😁😁😁😁
@Tracie Lansing … have you no compassion or kindness? Has the last X months/year+ taught you anything about empathy and kindness?
If us watching GA helped Laura get her dream Hartley, then it makes me even happier. She works really hard to create content that is both informative and visually pleasing. She NEVER asks anybody to subscribe, buy her merch or attempts to sell us deodorant etc. She is passionate about what she does and I am glad that she is able to make a living from that 👏👏👏
This series is definitely helpful. Puts a different perspective on maintenance. Seeing the Hartley in the background now and then is so enjoyable. It’s so beautiful….even empty and unfinished. Wow! If it were mine I think I would just sit and stare at it for hours….and envision what will be in and around it. So happy for you. Thank you for sharing so much with us.
IT was very helpful and encouraging to see your system in action Laura. This has made me realize that we all deal with the same things, plants sometime die and you said "I don't know why", the evergreen that simply didn't make it, the weeds, the volunteer seeds that pop up, the plants that need to be brought under control with a little pruning, Then stepping back to view the space and take a deep breath of joy, delighting in the layers and colors. You have helped all of us!
Good morning everyone! Have a great day
I have a question about planting under the ash tree. You talk about planting beds instead of grass due to the tree roots. So how do you work around the tree roots? Do you just cut some of them? Try to find ways to dig around them? Add soil on top? I'm super excited to see the new beds in that area take shape!
I would also like to know how to do this. And do you have a compost pile that you put all your clippings in?
@@Katie-xe7sw I remember a question/answer video where Laura & Aaron said they don't have a compost at the moment.
@@rosehighland6462 I'm afraid I have a mango tree that keeps putting large roots into one side of my veggie patch... I dig down, and then use loppers to cut the roots off. This year it has an amazing crop on it... we will see what happens.
I really like the format of watching you work with the voice over.
Good morning everyone 🌻 🏵 🌼 💐 🥰 ☺ 🌅🌅☕
I have “zoned” my garden areas!!!! Way easier to maintain and not feel overwhelmed with my weeding tasks. Thanks agin Laura for the great garden videos!! Cheers 🍷
My husband and I sat down and zoned out our property after the first video in this series! He was really excited about it, and I'm hoping it'll really help us in the future. Thank you!
I love how you love everything and it shows from all your hard work, Aaron too. Lol
And I’m so glad you keep daylillies and irises in your gardens. I seems that these two beautiful garden flowers are somewhat overlooked.
Fantastic job delineating zones and capturing the entire process of garden maintenance. I have enjoyed so much this mini series. It should become a highlighted resource for all your future new viewers to see. As I watch it’s still hitting the 100 and 90 degree temps with high humidity. It’s all I can I can stand at this point to harvest and keep everything watered without melting!
Keep up the good work you earn it
I loved these segments. It has given me ways to help my mom get her garden back to its formal glory. That task has overwhelmed my 83 year old mom. And as a result, she has not enjoyed her garden at all. I am excited to explain this method to her.
I especially enjoyed the drone tour of your property. Not only was the view lovely, but so was your choice of music. I replayed that part a few times.😊 I look forward to the next update on its progress.
Love your videos!
Yes! Aaron and Laura and your editor! You all set the bar high for video quality, artistry, and enjoyabilty! (Did I just make up a word?)
Would love to see the weekly tasks on video. This series has been life changing for me. Our winter has been so wet I have been unable to get out in the garden and in the past week I have got so much done I watch your videos and go out and do it. Gardening is no longer overwhelming. Thank you so much 😊
Your winter? You must be somewhere south of the equator, right?
@@mariankay6482 South Australia long cold wet winter.
Australia was a bucket list place to visit and maybe I still can, one day. I have some health issues and the thought of the length of that flight is a bit daunting.
Every single person I have ever met from your part of the world has been so kind and fun-loving! ❤️
I watch a woman from Cambria who lives succulents and she has hundreds of them. I guess the lows there can get a degree or 3 below freezing but she has worked with these succulents and gets them accustomed to the light frosts and then the light freezes. Anyway, she has a beautiful garden just full of them!
My husband and I played music at an old west show and chuckwagon supper just south of Amarillo. It was back in the 90s. Every Saturday night for 2 or 3 years we had 2 buses come in for the show. One started in LA and went to NYC and the other came the opposite. They met here and we had such a great time with all the ppl. Everyone was either from Australia or New Zealand on those buses and we loved them! We took them down into our little canyon and then fed them and did our show from the 1880s and it was hard for them to stay seated! They'd been couped up on the bus and in the cities and they got out on our countryside and said it felt like home! It seems our climate is a bit similar to some dryer places in your outback. Oh, they laughed had such fun with us! Then, when the sun started going down we got them all back on the wagons and we all went back to the welcoming barn that had a cement floor and taught anyone who wanted to learn, how to 2 step, do the cotton eyed joe and the schottisch and the macarena which was the big dance craze at the time. Then, they hopped onto their buses and went to a very large club that was here called the Midnight Rodeo and used what we taught them and danced the rest of the night away! Sometimes, when we got all our chores done after the show, we would go there and join them! So much fun!
My husband and I don't drink but it was okay, those ppl did enough of that for all of us! 🤣😂🤣
So, after meeting so many wonderful ppl from your part of the world, it sure made me want to visit and maybe run into one or 2 folks we met. There were about 60 every weekend for many summer Saturday nights. I always thought I was bound to find it least one! ❤️
Sorry for rambling. Those were, by far, the best days of my life... Standing up and singing and acting a bit in our 100 degree F temperatures! 😂 It was so much work and so much fun!!!
@@mariankay6482 Thanks for that lovely comment,it was so interesting.
Good morning, Laura ☕️ You just cruised through these two days like it was a breeze! I love your system; it’s manageable and not so overwhelming. Over here in Boston, we had a terrible July, either rain 🌧 or 100° so my crabgrass has exploded 💥🌱🌱🌱 and I am definitely behind but, taking it one section at a time! Have a Blessed Day 😊🐈
I'm in the North shore of Boston and it was an interesting weather pattern.
I cannot thank you enough for doing these maintenance videos! I did not know to do much of the cleanup you do every week. Like, a few brown hosta leaves doesn't mean it's dying - I just pick them off!? My daylilies aren't dying - just trim them up. So happy 😊
Laura this series has been so educational for me! It's one thing to hear about how your system works, its quite another to see it in action. It was also really nice to see each of these areas right up close! So beautiful :) You make me want to get out there and weed weed weed!
Oh my gosh I loved this series...seeing you work the zones and how you clean them up was invaluable! Keep teaching us how to stay on top of stuff!
Hi Laura, I've loved this series as I am definitely a visual and oral learner. Hoping you can do a fall cleanup video again or link the best ones you've made on the subject before? Also, I'm wondering why you don't do hedge trimming weekly in each zone to keep it minimal and always tidy? Would that prevent some burn if it was minimal? Love how you are developing the new land and how it's all being incorporated. It's been so inspiring and we have tackled a few projects in our 1/3 acre lot this year as a result.
Benjamin's tractor looks like its the best used gift ever! So much fun to see him cruise around all the time!
Thank you so much for these videos. I have been feeling so overwhelmed with everything in the house/garden. Not only do I homeschool my children but I have chronic health issues and lots of fatigue. You inspired me to make my own zones for my home and garden. It's only been been few days but I feel like my thoughts are so much more organized and like it's something I can actually handle keeping up with. God bless you and your beautiful family!
Join my voice to the choir! Love seeing the processes and the work in action. I would really appreciate seeing how you dig, save/hold and transplant those things you need to move to new places during so many changes coming up. BTW Benjamin looked so tall and grown up riding around in the background! 👏
I'm a visual learner to Laura.
Thank you for mentioning this.
It all looks great. I loved seeing Benjamin driving across the lawn he was on a mission.
Enjoying planning "zones" in my garden. I'm recovering from a hand injury so I'm a bit limited. However, instead of thinking that I have the whole garden to weed and pick up sticks from Hurricsn Ida, today I told myself that I had "just one section" to clean & weed. Got that done and my husband can haul the wheelbarrow to the back to dump.
Tomorrow - another small section.
Am so sorry 😐 about your injury.how do you feel now,I hope your okay and sound
Yes I would like to see the weekly weed control. Y’all do just a great job with all of this and I have learned so much from watching the video’s. Thank you and stay safe.
I've adapted this zone strategy to my garden and it's a game changer! Makes things so much easier to manage and maintain.
Loved watching the this series of videos. It inspired me to go out and do the same to my flower beds. It took me all of 1-1/2 hours. 😂 So far I have small beds that I got going during a time when we are doing repairs to our house. It is very tough to do both but those few plants in my beds gave me joy when the other was not. Looking to increase my beds so I can have a zone 2. Thank you for the inspiration!
Thank you for the maintenance videos :)
I have started doing the zoning thing this year and it has helped so much in my garden, I weed my main garden on Mondays and I have almost completely eradicated the Thistle that was infesting that garden in the beginning of the season! Woohoo! Heading out now and for the first time in months I'm able to be out in my garden wearing my favorite TH-camrs merch! Garden Answer represent over here in Minnesota! The high today is 73 I think!
I would love to see everything you do to maintain your gardens. This series was very informative. I’m going to add gardens next spring, we’re about to get cement siding put on our house and my one flower bed looks pathetic right now. I’m going to add to the front yard the side yard and possibly the back yard.
I’m excited to see what your plans are for the shade area full of tree roots. That’s my garden. I never know what to plant and digging is so hard. :(
This is a great series to educate us all on how to better manage the garden. I didn't realize it, but I have an informal schedule that I follow. Following dinner usually 2 or 3 times a week, I grab the rolling cart that I made (using a luggage cart, a 5-gallon pail, and a bungee cord), my gloves and pruners, and I take a stroll in my front yard to pick up any debris and tidy up. Another day, I cover the gardens in my back yard, usually doing that in two evenings as the back yard has several larger gardens. This is really a nice time of the day, as it's cooler. During my post dinner strolls it also gives me time to admire the garden, combining the tidying-up with a mini-tour that enriches my gardening soul! After all, that's what gardening is for me--enjoying the beauty that I've created!
New Gardner in Ohio: seeing the grass connecting looks so nice. It will be absolutely beautiful. You speak of doing daily chores, but when do you get time to tackle the extra jobs needed in those areas? These videos have been a great help.
If her weekly zone tasks only take an hour at the beginning of the day, then the rest of the day is open for other things like checking the drip or heavy tree pruning or boxwood trimming. Remember that this is her full time job, tucked in and around raising two kids and all the other things of course. For me, I tackle my bigger tasks on a day when my zone takes less time. Then there’s always a few hours on a weekend.
Laura, you should know by now that when you ask if we want to see “XYZ” that 99% of us are going to say YES! 😂 We love all the things from your garden (your sweet family,
the kitties, and of course the glorious plants)! Keep em’ coming, I’m learning so much about how to tend to my space more efficiently! And next year, when I have a drip system installed, hopefully I will have more time to sit and enjoy the garden more often.
That’s so sweet of you
Can we be friends kim
Thanks for showing us how to regain the balance between life, maintenance work, family time and the ongoing evolution of gardening design. No garden is static. We all love to experiment with new cultivars, vignettes and installation of features that better serve the evolving needs of our growing family and our tastes. How to manage all of that is as complex as it is overwhelming. Developing a method for organizing and implementing it laser focuses on the critical elements, while giving yourself permission to mentally let go of the rest as extraneous, leading to a more productive and satisfying day.
One of the things that I absolutely love is how the hartley literally shines. I am so thrilled to hear and see your excitement. You give me hope for future
This series has been so helpful. I too have alot of crabgrass too. It did my heart good to see that you have issues with grassy weeds too. My yard is smaller and I need to work out a zone system too. Thank you for taking us along with you for your daily Garden maintenance. ❤
And as others have said, I also need to adapt this to my housework also. 😊
Can we please have a September garden tour? I feel like everything has changed so much since the April garden tour! Another video idea might be to have a peaceful stroll of an afternoon/evening when you take Samantha Grace out? I feel like just a walk with me silet tour with some music ove the top or even peaceful nature sounds at sunset would be so magical to watch!!! I would watch that on repeat hahah. Cant wait to see what the flowerbeds around the Hartley Greenhouse look like when your done with them!!!
This series has been most wonderful. My Grannie and my Moma embroidered pillowcases for each day of the week, Monday was 'washing' - Thuesday was ironing....etc. --- the same concept....but gardening is so much more FUN!
I commented something similar about embroidered dishcloths a couple of days ago. 😍. I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought of this and can still remember those.
@@laraemitchell9064 Yeah! Those memories are a strong foundation for us to apply in our lives. Sorry I missed your post but will be looking for you as my new friend! XoXo, Sova from North Carolina.

I think most of us would agree that we enjoy your content. We learn new things as you go and are also very inspired! You’ve always had a realistic quality that we can relate to. You also have bright us through many life adventures and to be honest, added a family like feeling to your channel. Gotta have coffee with Laura on a daily and when there’s no new content, I watch the older videos. I’ve watched a few more than once because,”I need that plant!” So, you can best believe the content you choose to do for us will be watched, enjoyed and learned from! (You’re my reference guide)!
Hello everybody! Two weeks ago I had a sprained ankle and totally neglected my garden. Even though I have a small area, everything was overgrown and invaded by weeds. This series inspired me to get to work and I did the whole garden in 1 day. It took me 4 hours but now I'm much happier. Thank you so for the inspiration. You are a blessing! 💚
Laura YES PLEASE do a weekly task series also! 😊. This series has been so encouraging and informative. You have inspired me to do the same in my garden. I just jumped in this week knowing that next week will be even easier. It has been such a motivator. THANK YOU for sharing this great idea with us. ❤️🌱
I’ve really enjoyed the maintenance series this week. This really helps me compartmentalize my own garden and making me feel less overwhelmed with keeping up. Thank you!!
When you plant under a tree with surface roots, do you add soil to raise up the soil level, cut roots, or just work around them?
Yes, I would like to see some of your other tasks that you do. When do you fit those tasks into your schedule? Love your videos! 💗Keep them coming! 🙂
I really appreciate this series Laura. It's so funny that you mention visual learners... That's me! We just moved into a home with an established front and back yard and a paid gardener, but weare looking forward to putting in some time on the weekends for little projects here and there. We don't have a maid service and this series has inspired me to put the zone method to work INSIDE the house. You just never know where your inspiration will land on us, do you Laura?
I've absolutely loved this series. It was so informative; but, it also shows that you are human! It takes work to get a garden like what you have. My husband keeps reminding me that I won't have a garden like yours. But I can have a smaller piece of heaven! Thank you for all that you and Aaron do. I enjoy every video you guys have made!
The zone method seems so obvious now that you are showing it! I started it out in my garden yesterday and it all feels so much more manageable.
Benjamin’s John Deere. Oh the joy it brings him, and your friend who sent it must be delighted every time she sees him riding it. 😍

I too am a visual learner! I was wondering how many hostas you have under that birch tree at 8:23 mins. Is it just one plant or several, 3 perhaps? Thank you so much for all you do for us learning how to create and sustain our gardens. Pruning and weeding is a pain, but so worth it... I say this as I watch you doing all that work while I sit here drinking a cold glass of water sitting in my AC home, watching on my computer, when I should be out doing the same thing! LOL
I guess you must have learnt
When I raised my family, I did this method to clean my home for deeper cleaning. I did basic clean up everyday, but deeper work, this zone method was a huge help!
Wow, I love this idea! 💙 Thank you
Yes to the weekly task videos! I have really enjoyed this series! Thank you!!
Would love to see weekly maintenance videos. You could post videos of you doing your daily maintenance tasks every day and I would never get sick of them. I love being able to see all of the areas of the yard
Your so smart Tracy,I guess your garden will always be like that or even more because your ambitious about it and working very hardworking
Laura thank you so much for going through this process with all of us. It’s so helpful. Your containers along the lane with the Bubblegum Supervista petunias are so gorgeous!!! I would love to see how you go about spraying them weekly. I try to spray mine but it’s so hard to get “all up in there”🤣. Not sure I’m doing it correctly. Your videos are so fun to watch… you have such a beautiful way of sharing with us. Thank you for bringing joy to all of us!
Good Morning from South Dakota! I am definitely going to make zones for maintenance!
Thank you so much for sharing the system with me. It has made such a change in my garden. I don't feel so overwhelmed anymore. It was always a chore and now it's something that I know I can accomplish each day. Your amazing!
Good Morning from water-soaked zone 6, New Jersey
Wow! The brick walk-way looks absolutely fabulous!
I just have to say thank you so much for doing this. Viewing my garden as a whole instead of zoned has made gardening so challenging these past few years. Im the only one that gardens and as I keep adding more flowers bed it just has become so daunting. I look at all the things that need to be done in my yard and I get so overwhelmed and not want to do any of it. So my garden hasn’t looked the greatest. Having you explain it the way you did totally made sense. Yesterday I was doing some maintenance work in my front yard and I noticed a few other things needed to be done in another part of my garden. I told myself no, finish this area today and tomorrow you can tackle that side of the yard. I was able to focus on one area and now that area is done and I can focus on the other area today. Thank you so much for doing this I’m a visual learner and this really helped me to finally understand how my own garden works and I am hoping it will get easier as I go. You are a gem!!
From the first video where you explained your zone system of garden maintenance to now I have been inspired. With paper and pencil in hand I thought about all my commitments, divided my lawn and gardens into 5 zones and began the process. It did not end there…if it works for lawn and garden why not in my house! I divided the cleaning of my house into 3 zones, taking again into consideration standing commitments, garden tasks, etc. and love the outcome! I’ve always been an organized person but would try to get everything done in one day and be worn out. Thank you for this series and honestly all your videos. No matter what time I eat breakfast you and your family have been my companions throughout the years. I live in Zone 7, have planted many of your suggestions, and will not share my Falco’s with my husband (I actually hide them from him). In honor of my new found freedom following your Zone Garden Maintenance System I am ordering him his own Falco’s. He thanks you as well!
That’s so true we all get inspired in one way or the other
Watching you move through each of the zones was the best motivation. I needed this to get me moving on some of the gardens I haven’t spent time working in.
That’s so true you must have worked so hard for it
You deserve to see the profits
Your property management has really inspired me this year. I broke up my small space into week day zones also & it has been a tremendous help in the “unfun maintenance” part of yard & garden work. What was a mundane task of pulling weeds all day now is quick & easy. Thank you for the years of inspiration & beauty your channel provides.
This series was great! It seemed like we were getting a full garden tour for each section of your property. Even the 'Cut Garden' in earlier videos when you were planting the shrubs, and weeding the new grass area was a mini tour. So fulfilling! QUESTION: since you mentioned your neighbor by the back formal garden in this video, will there be any updates on how the pond area that you and Paul planted around back in June is doing?
Laura, I adopted your zones system last year after your video and keep the garden (4,5 acres) nicely maintained easily ever since. This was the best single garden tip ever! It carries a long way. I adopted the same principle for my house and it works magic.👌
Thank you for adapting to the voice over concept wit this video. Sometimes it was hard to tell what you were doing in the others this was super easy to follow! BTW someone or maybe you suggested doing a bit of dead heading and other maintenance in areas as you walk by. I am trying to catch up on one bed and so have been going into the two that are under control and deadheading for 10 min before I start my bed I am trying to fix and my others are even less work on their appointed days! So thanks to whoever made that suggestion, once again a way to keep things simple and not so overwhelming. I love ya girl for all you share!
Saw an old “Gardeners World” show where they recommended putting a stake near bind weed and taking it and winding it on it. Then it was treated with a systemic weed killer. You could paint the leaves with it. It supposedly will kill it down to its roots. They said pulling it stimulates it to grow. I’m going to try it.
We appreciate all you show us because there is something in each zone that I am sure we all learned something from it. I know I did ..thank you for doing this for us ...
Loved this maintenance series. Question: is the new property zoned as well? How does that play into the current zone work? Loved seeing Benjamin on his John Deere! 🚜
Yes, definitely would like to see a video on the weekly tasks. I’m especially interested in fertilizing - what you use and how to apply.
This is really a perfect way for me to learn how to "delegate" the work in my gardens! Thank you! I enjoyed the "Birch Eyes" watching you in today's video! The Hartley is one of my personal favorites in this zone. I know that in the months and years to come, there will be so many fun and interesting garden looks there!
I am so appreciative that you educated us about the zones for the weekly tasks. The light bulb went on and I’m not feeling so overwhelmed worry how I was going to manage all of my property’s chores. A big thank- you!
It is helpful to see you actively working in your garden, the tasks and frequency. Kind of like shadowing a master gardener. Thanks!
I very much enjoyed this series, I too have many beds and so many people say how do you look after it all...well zones...if you keep up with the weeds it is not overwhelming. I work full time as well, 12 hr shifts so knowing you have to weed once a week is simple
The print out with colored zones on it is my favorite part of this series. I'm a huge victim of one more thing in the garden and then I get over tired or overwelmed. This was very helpful Laura!!! 🥰
You have a very beautiful smile Rebecca
I absolutely LOVE the zone system. Just started with you this week and it is working like a charm. Here in the south we actually buy purslane and plant it in our gardens! One gardeners weeds is another’s bedding plant. 😂✌🏻🪴 Thanks so much for all the great content.
Have you ever tried eating it? I’ve been very curious about that. I’m actually from where Laura is, and purslane loves it there to the point of being quite invasive.
I love these videos so much. I would watch them every day all season long. They make me want to get out in my garden and deal with stuff even when it’s exhausting and I don’t feel like doing it. They’re like cleaning motivation TH-cam, but for gardeners 🥰
Hi Laura, so helpful to see how you do your garden maintenance, especially in what you are looking for and doing! Lol, is as satisfying watching as it is for you doing it....may even more so because I am just sitting on my recliner and watching you work😉.
I already broke down my yard into zones and will start implementing it as soon as it cools off and no mosquitoes. I need to pack the garden beds full so I have less weeds. Thanks a lot, super helpful series. Benjamin was so cute cruising along! Always brings a smile to my face when I see him or Samantha Grace! God bless! Hugs to you all 🤗💜🤗❤
Am so sure your going to do great 👍 because you have watched her ideas 💡 all you need to do is improvise
How’s your garden
@@maxinema7163 not that great, working on it!
@@camicri4263 cool 😎 work in progress,I would love too see your garden
@@camicri4263 you seem to be a very ca and gentle woman,I would like too know you more better if you don’t mind
I love this process, would like to see your other weekly maintenance tasks.
I've adapted the zoning system to how I clean and maintain my home 😃 as I dont have a garden anymore, but find my cleaning so constant and laborious, fir the past year... it is zoned and so much more fun to maintain, less time consuming 💕
Really enjoying this series as i fee like its been a while since we've seen the whole garden!
After all that maintenance this week it's time to sharpen those sheers and then cocktails with your mom to cheers! Great job, Laura! 👍
I too am a visual learner! Thanks for showing how you clean up your gardens. I'm glad there are plants I don't have to do a hard cut back on. I never knew I could leave some of them for the winter. Again, Thanks!
Love these. I really like when you voiceover as you are doing the work. Thanks again
