Guys, i m about to move in Stoke on Trent, I'm from Italy and my English is not so bad, but i struggle a bit with strong dialect and fast speaking, do you think I'll be in trouble there? I been living around London and Somerset area... With guys from Manchester, Liverpool or Glasgow i struggle to understand 100%...
@@w.f.s.6313 It's not so bad. Most people don't speak in the dialect anymore besides a few older people. Just watch out for pronunciations of 'book', 'look' etc. The 'oo' is pronounced like the 'o' in 'do' (phoneme: /u:/). Also don't be surprised if people call you 'duck', it really means 'duke' from the latin 'dux'.
Accent wise so confusing potters are sposed to sound like a mix of brummie and northern sounds proper northern can't hear no west Midlands at all I'm not trying make any beef just mearly jesting the question as I'm intrigued?
