    Put camera into "sleep mode"... saves batt (turns off evf/lcd) - extends the batt life to over 800 shots on R6. Change the front 'dof preview' button to 'displays off'. In menu section Orange - sub menu 3 - customize buttons - tab down x5 - change dof preview to displays off. To wake up camera... put eye up to evf - instantaneously turns it back on.

    Just got my R6 and this was super useful, thanks! Any chance you've found the setting for making the display and/or viewfinder red rather than white (for shooting in super low light without ruining your night vision)? It was called "Screen Color" on my old 750D but not on this one it seems

    • @DanielWhiteWithCanon
      @DanielWhiteWithCanon  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Brian glad this video helped you out. There are also free guides available that should speed up the adjustment process. Unfortunately there is no screen color setting. But for best low light performance turning simulated exposure helps. Thanks for the comment!

    I'm having an issue with my r6 and I hope you can help me, and that is when trying to switch to another eye or face it keeps going back to the original eye. What am I doing wrong?

    Brand new R6 user here! Thanks for this series! One question, regarding the IS settings (3:30), on "IS (Image Stabilizer) mode" menu, I'm only seeing the option for Digital IS (on or off). I don't see the other two you're showing. Any setting that needs to be active to reveal those?

    • @DanielWhiteWithCanon
      @DanielWhiteWithCanon  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This depends on the lens and photo and video mode. If the option isn’tthere it is because the lens controls all stabilization or the option isn’t available with what you are shooting at the moment being video or photos.

  • @theboyers121
    @theboyers121 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi :) Thank you for this video. I see that my menu screen does not have the same number of options as what you are showing in your tutorial. In other words, when I go to AF (purple) I have #1 and #2 as options where you have 5 options. Same with the camera (red) I have 4 options where you have I think 9. At the top of my main screen I have camera / AF / arrow / wifi / wrench. That's it. You have another camera and a star after that. So the question is....why is mine different? I purchased this camera on June 1 2022. Thank you for your time :)

    • @DanielWhiteWithCanon
      @DanielWhiteWithCanon  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Usually it’s because the lens is EF or doesn’t have stabilized option on the lens so it’s controlled by the menus. Software updates have moved a few things. If it’s not exactly the same it’s usually not an issue.

  • @jimjaniczek8156

    Hi Daniel. Just watched your video and I wanted to check to make sure my IS is always on for still photos. I have firmware 1.5.2 installed and the only menu option I have is for Digital IS. I do not have a menu option for Still photos ???

    • @DanielWhiteWithCanon
      @DanielWhiteWithCanon  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The IS is controlled by the switch on the lens. If there is not lens stabilization then the option is available on the menus.

  • @RickUSA1968
    @RickUSA1968 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    what lens did you were using when turned ON IS MENU?

    • @DanielWhiteWithCanon
      @DanielWhiteWithCanon  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Probably the EF 17-40. The IBIS is typically controlled by the lens stabilization switch so it won’t appear as an option of the lens has IS.

    I do a lot with strobe lighting, and I can’t figure out for the life of me how to turn off exposure compensation completely; like not at all. Whenever I focus first, the exposure compensation HAS to adjust itself and I can’t turn it off. The lowest it can go is 4 seconds. Any thoughts on this? Canon update?

    • @DanielWhiteWithCanon
      @DanielWhiteWithCanon  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Tailored Technique! The lens you have on the camera already has IS so the option won’t appear. Wish they would just gray it out but no it just won’t appear unless you have a lens without an IS switch. Thanks for the comment :)

    • @DanielWhiteWithCanon

      It is only an option with glass that doesn’t have IS. Otherwise the switch turns on both IS and IBIS.

      I’ve been studying up by watching youtube’s... But I still have a few issues:
      1) I set up back button focus for the eye detection (AF-on) and spot focus on the (*) but notice nether work on [A] dial settings ... this might be normal but I find it weird.
      2) I can set C1, C2, C3 to video settings
      3) I set the round button (DOF preview button) on the front of the camera to Switch between VF/screen
      -On [A] it won’t switch but stays on what ever was on when I turn the dial.... this very annoying

    • @DanielWhiteWithCanon

    The ibis only works like you show when you use a lens without IS. If the lens has IS on you get IBIS. if IS is off the IBIS is off.

    Why is my R6 has no copyright information on the file name to set up? On IS mode, it has no still photos to set up always. Did i buy a fake R6 from BestBuy?

    • @DanielWhiteWithCanon
      @DanielWhiteWithCanon  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Rose. I would say it’s unlikely you have a fake R6. The way the ibis works is if you have an IS lens the switch in the lens controls the IBIS. As far as copy right information make sure you are in photography setting manual. I think that should do the trick.
