Professor, I've owned a Teysa deck for many years. Thanks to your video, I have done a complete overhaul of the deck. It is also double-sleeved with KMC perfect fits and KMC Hyper Matts inside a UltraPro Satin deck tower. Without your videos, I would be wasting money on junk products and junk singles. Thank you for all your videos and the effort you put into this deck. I know you probably won't see the comment, but I am such a grateful student. :D
sorry to be off topic but does someone know of a tool to get back into an instagram account..? I was dumb forgot the login password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me!
@Ben Aaron thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im trying it out now. Seems to take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
I think this is likely the best series on this channel. I'd like to see more of these videos with non-popular, challenging to build commanders, or even popular commanders with unintuitive builds (making them unique and fun).
I just realized, I am very grateful for the way you hardly ever use acronyms or slang even though I usually watch your videos at 1.5 or even 2 times speed XP
Started my own Teysa deck after watching this and reading the primer. I added one or two higher cost options (Grave Titan and Magister of Worth) to add a bit more power when not using Darkest Hour. I also added Hallowed Spiritkeeper, Exsanguinate and Debt to the Deathless and a few other options to help win without the combos for more fun-oriented games :) thank you so much for the inspiration!
This may have been the best deck tech I've ever seen. Even if people don't agree on substance, the flavor and production value is top notch. Bravo, sir!
Thanks! My EDH deck is Orzhov but I had only flirted with the token generating idea. I am now going to commit to it with a new Teysa deck. Awesome video.
Favorite MTG TH-cam channel and it isn't close. Congrats on the 30K mark, glad to see such high quality videos get the attention they deserve. Also, loving the Edh videos, as a modern and Edh player, I love seeing people's takes and opinions on various commanders. Even though i'll probably never sleeve up a Teysa deck, I still enjoyed the video. Keep up the great work!
This is my one true commander love and its great to see how close my deck is to your build. I will also second Schondetta's primer, it taught me so much about Teysa when I first built the deck.
Proffessor! I've now been pilioting a Teysa EDH for almost a year now after watching this video, I truely love how the deck feels and plays, though I have to say You'd probably not approve of some of my changes, going for a more stax/board control variant to stall for time to combo off (the decks gotten the nick name "debtor's prison" at my local LGS), but I just want to say thank you for giving me the inspiration and starting point to build a EDH deck built in the flavor and colors of my favorite guild!!
This, by far, is my favorite EDH deck. ( I play it a little bit more dirty with the darkest hour in as well as contamination :D ) Thank you for sharing it with us. Loved the presentation of it as well!
I would love to see an update to this list seeing as this video is nearing a decade old. So much stuff has come out since then that seeing what Prof plays in Teysa now would be cool. I know this video is what inspired me to build Teysa this year. It looks so similar yet different it is quite wild. Really love your content and have been a fan for many years. Even when I wasn't playing the game.
This is the commander I got in the golden envelope thing at command Fest DC. I think it's time to start building that deck. Love The Deck Tech excellent job!!
Handy guide! Teysa is one of my favorite commanders. I went with a more Grave Pact effect heavy strategy myself with massive token generation the idea being sac three creatures to Teysa, and my opponents have to sac up to 9 creatures each, keeping the board nice and clean :) Couple cards I included that aren't talked about here, Dread and Darien, King of Kjeldor are great creatures to keep people from attacking you. Drogskol Cavalry (a new card since this video came out) is massive life generation from the combos mentioned for Teysa, and Sengir Nosferatu, while expensive at 4 mana, is a good way to get out large amounts of spirit tokens with Teysa out once you can generate large amounts though the methods described in the video.
I watch your show from the beginning and I took your tips and how to teach people to play MTG. I also like how you do compare and contrast between sleeves and other accessories to magic
At the end when you said "May all your debts be paid" I really thought about the blessing "May you rest an eternity in the ground", used regularly in innistrad.
My first commander deck and my main is a Teysa commander but it's her ravnica version. Double death triggered effects and token vig/lifelink. Very similar and alot of fun with a ton of vampires. Loved the video and appreciate the new ideas!
Cool Deck. Volrath's Stronghold is also a great Land to use, especially for this Deck. And with all the recursion in the Deck, you could even risk letting Teysa enter the Grave, only to get her back at cheaper Cost than if she'd been sent to the Command Zone. I just love sending my Commander's to the Grave if I know I have recursion in Hand/Board.. But it is a risky endeavor. But risk is ALL of the fun! Muhuhahaha~
I just built this deck using the primer a couple of days ago! So fun (and a bit weird) to see it featured here so soon afterwards. Such a great deck. The cards are very powerful while still being a lot cheaper than some alternatives decks.
Great video professor I loved the way you introduced the video giving this sort of campfire story feel or should I say campfire legend P.S.if you got my joke I sincerely apologise
Can't wait to see more commander content from you! Keep it up this channel just keeps getting better. Would hope to see some pauper on here? Anyway thanks professor!
dannyzep92 Pauper videos are indeed planned. I want to cover Pauper, Highlander, a little Legacy, and of course continue to do Modern, Commander and Standard
I quit playing magic in 2017, Teysa from this video was my deck. I got back into magic a few months ago and started playing Teysa again, I have been winning every event in my LGS with her. The stores have a turn 6 delay, since Teysa on average combos off on turn 6 it is so good for my local area.
that deck looks so cool. never played commander but I would love to have a deck like that. don't have enough cards to build a good commander right now but one day maybe I will! awesome deck!
Beautifully done! But now her secret is out . . . and her debt collecting will surely get out of hand. Droves of players will surely desire her services, and now I may have to play her envoy counterpart.
Thank you for explaining your choices for Teysa, i've had her as my commander for a while but I never completely understood how the deck was meant to be ran and thus If i was against this, I would probably get wrecked. Time to learn more about her :D
I made a tiny leaders Teysa deck, but I had no idea she was actually this good! I just threw in the spirit stuff I had from when I drafted Modern Masters and found a bunch of spirit and arcane stuff in a bulk bin.
i was in a very long game yesterday against some control players, and couldnt really get anything to stick, eventually i was down to 1 card in hand, Darkest Hour, with teysa, 3 zombie tokens, and alter of brood on the field on the field. I top decked a reveillark and was able to bring back my only real sac outlet in graveyard being a Viscera seer. when i brought back vicsera i couldnt rly think of what to do until i watched my opponent mill from the brood trigger...I unknowingly gave myself infinite mill with a 1 mana alter of brood, huzzah
Quick note, while copying the deck list you provided, I found that you spelled "Obzedat's aid" with an "e". Just thought it would be helpful to know so you can correct it. Your explanation really sealed the deal for using Teysa after I read Schondetta's primer.
I feel like Mimic Vat is a worthwhile playtest in your deck. It's very fairly costed and can help you spit out tokens from cards like marsh flitter or sengir autocrat. Plus having the option to steal opponents bombs after killing them is a super plus.
a really good addition to this deck is maw of the obzedat, it's an 3/3 uncommon that takes 5 mana to even get into the game (3 of which wont matter once you start the loop) and every time you sacrifice a creature to it, all of your creatures get +1/+1 until the end of the turn (this can be used infinitely)
A must-add to this deck, now that we have access to Amonkhet, is Anointed Procession - an enchantment in white that doubles token production for its owner.
I rarely build decks that are not in blue, but the amount of shenanigans and degenerate combos in this deck make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Now my memnarch deck will appear fair; I really love the: Stop it, I'm winning feel to this deck.
Hi, another Teysa enthusiast here. Have you ever considered running Leonin Relic-Warder or Fiend Hunter in your deck? In decks where you can sacrifice them while their enters the battlefield trigger is still on the stack, they become permanent exile effects which you can later reanimate for round two. You also forgot to mention in the video that Nether Traitor with Teysa and Phyrexian Altar give you infinite mana of any color. Keep up the good work, you earned my subscription last week when I found your channel.
Hey professor! You made me play this deck, together with the primer! Thanks for helping me discovering Teysa. How does your deck look today in 2020? Greetings, Eiscold
Great video. Just outstanding and make perfectly for people like me who is trying to understand how to make a deck (of any kind) how to make a commander deck and how to use cards in combos and the likes. And here's probably another video request. Could you make another top 5 underrated commanders or less used, known some thing along these lines. I personally love how each deck that I come across is different. And I will most definitely enjoy the look I get when people see the unusual cards I run in my deck. And I love to do that in commander. I plan on start make my very first edh deck beginning next year. And would like be with an highly unused commander leading my army as I lay waste to my opponents So sorry didn't realize this was a really long comment I'm sorry.
I think you’re missing a trick here. For me, this deck is crying out for zombies, and in particular, gravecrawler. Provided you have another zombie in play you can cast gravecrawler from the grave for B. If Phyrexian Altar is on the battlefield you can sac gravecrawler for one black mana triggering Teysa’s white spirit ability. All you need is another zombie. Luckily the deathmantle makes whatever it’s attached to a zombie, but there are lots of other places to get a zombie from! Xathrid Necromancer also makes zombies if you sac a human, and Bloodsoaked Champion is a human who can be returned for 1B if you attacked that turn. Sac him and you get a black zombie from the Necromancer and a white spirit from Teysa. Both the Bloodsoaked Champ and the Gravecrawler are non-tokens, so they can produce rats from the Slumlord, spawn from the Pawn of Ulamog, or cards from Grim Haruspex. I also *think* that because of the wording on gravecrawler he should also trigger Endrek Sahr’s ability. In a zombie deck if meekstone is out Ghoulcaller Gisa is also a great addition because she turn a big creature into lots of little ones. Did your Skirsdag High Priest create a demon you can’t untap? No problem! Get Gisa to sack it and replace it with five zombies! I know it’s not meant to be a token swarm deck, but Endless Ranks of the Dead is a tempting addition to the zombie build. Just my two pence worth. I’d love to hear what others think!
For tutoring cards just add paradox engine, planar portal, and planar bridge. Once u get those out and with all the mana gain u can use them endlessly. At least with the first 2. Bridge is just a bonus to get cards out immediately that u could use in a pinch.
I'd like to see what your thoughts are on a Tiny Leaders adaptation with this commander, Teysa. I've been fascinated with this format ever since I read about it. Time for me to brew!
Is there any chance that you could start making videos on decks for the new Tiny Leaders format? I'd love to see this turned into a deck for that format!
this gave me good idea on deck thx XD Darksteel plate is good addition if you play this non comendarish 4:12 that card is a good addition to any deck one of my faws from the op category XD 4:51 Darksteel plate :D its more simple I also Nether Traitor one of my favorite servants good with clamp and its just stabil direct damage also wields blade of blood chef nicely XD 7:47 love this one :3 9:13 and i thought you wont mention this one my bad xD 9:40 if we really go that old school here are some honorable mentions: nether shadow and ashen ghoul are just fabulous grave power. ~ All hail Orzhov XD
Sounds powerful. Just hearing about this makes me wish I could play against it with my pet commander deck: Captain Sisay with her unstoppable toolbox of hatebears and unreasonably gigantic creatures.
Consider Dawn of the Dead. A nice way to keep a continuous stream of creatures coming from your graveyard as long as you have one of your sac outlets. Also it's a major flavor win.
I really need to build this deck, been tinkering with a black/green deck that seems to be going no-where, maybe a tried and tested deck such as this can change my luck.
I have a deck much like this of my own but rather a human sacrifice deck. Something that I would see to fit this would be bloodsoaked champion because of its 2 cost bring back and its humanness for xathrid necromancer. And then requieum angel, she is amazing as anotger 1/1 spirit generator. I figure that with teysa there is no real need to have that maby tokens but its still somthing to think about. Aswell a card that I use is thraben doomsayer. It is human and cleric so it will run with both of the zombie generators and it throws down 1/1 humans for sacing and geting 2/2 zombies. Not to mention his fatefull hour. You can then have 3/3 spirit flyers that are only a downside for the meekstone. And that you only have 5 life... as a final thought for its overall... everything is athreos, god of the passage. He can be a real powerhouse for a sac deck as this is. And if you are going for the "fun" or "friendly" game he can be the commander insted of teysa. But hey thats just a small thought that I had. Looks like a great deck I'm glad to finnaly see it after constantly seeing your teysa in deck box reviews. Thank you for your channel it brings me joy to see someone who knows this much about magic. Thankyou.
Hahaha, congratulations, you'r doing an incredible job in this channel, you'r such a good speaker hahahah, Really amazing this commander deck!! And since you said you will make anoder Q¨&A could you show us your card collection and few good stories you have about them? I think it would be great, hehahhaha Keep it uuup!!!
Beacon of Unrest: return target artifact, creature, or enchantment from a graveyard to the battlefield under your control and then gets shyffled into your library for 3 colorless and 2 black mana. Necromancy returns any creature from a graveyard to the battlefield from the graveyard for 2 colorless and 1 black, what's nice about Necromancy is that you can cast it as a instant but if you do you have to sacrifice the creature at the end of the turn.
I find it odd that no other decklist for this deck I've seen runs the newer Elspeth, Sun's champion. She's a bit more expensive then Knight-errant, sure, but she is basically "+1: exile target creature" and a reusable retribution of the meek all in one card.
Hello Professor, I have seen that you have done budget decks in the past for other formats. having played commander myself for a while I've found that my crazy expensive decks are the best by far but also have an intimidating effect on beginners with a price tag that is more than they have spent on their collection. One of my friends is interested in commander but wants to play on a budget. I was thinking that an interesting video would be a budget commander build that used any of the pre-constructed commander decks as a base to show my friend that playing commander and winning doesn't have to cost more than his collection. Tell me your thoughts on this idea.
You might try Pauper Commander as a way to get friends into the format. Your commander is any uncommon creature and the rest of the deck is commons. Rules are otherwise the same as Commander.
the issue is that he has a bit of decent things from lucky pack pulls and also wants to have a chance against our actual decks. He's not a total newbie, but is on a student's budget. its more of to give him a spark to lift him off of the home brewing deck block and into the process. plus this budget commander would open a gateway for many players who have a desire to play commander but see the dollar signs and completely tone out one of the most popular magic formats.
Professor,
I've owned a Teysa deck for many years.
i love this comment so much
Prof, you should update this deck! I am building her again, She was one of my first commanders.
sorry to be off topic but does someone know of a tool to get back into an instagram account..?
I was dumb forgot the login password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me!
@Mordechai Sage Instablaster =)
@Ben Aaron thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im trying it out now.
Seems to take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
@Ben Aaron It worked and I now got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thanks so much you saved my ass!
@Mordechai Sage no problem :D

This is my favorite video of yours. Excellent work here. The music, the lore, everything. Thanks for what you do!
Robert Lunsford Cheers man!

I appreciate the fact that you gave us a build that is fairly competitive and didn't skip out on being able to combo off. Thanks!
Fantastic video! The atmospherical setting was really well done. The voice effects, the background pictures...really nice!
Keep it up!
This is my one true commander love and its great to see how close my deck is to your build. I will also second Schondetta's primer, it taught me so much about Teysa when I first built the deck.

Taking a combo approach to Teysa is a fresh look on her abilities.I enjoyed this video, thanks.
Fantastic video professor, would love to see more. Ill be a subscriber for life.
Congratulation on the 30k achievement.
This, by far, is my favorite EDH deck. ( I play it a little bit more dirty with the darkest hour in as well as contamination :D ) Thank you for sharing it with us. Loved the presentation of it as well!

Yes, oh my gosh thank you! I've been wanting to build a Teysa EDH deck for so long. I was really hoping that you would do a video on this someday.
Very nice guide. The score is particularly enthralling ! Glad to see other Teysa fans out their doing the churches good work :)
I think this deserves a revisit, especially with afterlife and inklings!
Handy guide! Teysa is one of my favorite commanders. I went with a more Grave Pact effect heavy strategy myself with massive token generation the idea being sac three creatures to Teysa, and my opponents have to sac up to 9 creatures each, keeping the board nice and clean :)

Anyway I can get a link? Wanting to rely more on the sac/gravepact but dont quite have the time to put it all together.
I watch your show from the beginning and I took your tips and how to teach people to play MTG. I also like how you do compare and contrast between sleeves and other accessories to magic
Another great video. They seem to just getting better and better! As always, can't wait for more!
I like the commander build videos a lot. You do a great job with them and keep the budget realistic. Keep up the good work. Cheers!
Wow just WOW!!! I almost regret watching this because now I want to throw my current ideas out the window!!! I love your vids keep them up!! :)

Would love to meet the professor at a convention. Politely play a game with him, and thank him for the advice after all these years.
I used this as a base for my Teysa Tiny Leaders deck!
This was so helpful and I you have a great way of explaining things.
She's one of my favorite and first commanders and this video helped me get into magic
Congrats on the 30,000 Subs Professor.
I just built this deck using the primer a couple of days ago! So fun (and a bit weird) to see it featured here so soon afterwards. Such a great deck. The cards are very powerful while still being a lot cheaper than some alternatives decks.
Great video professor I loved the way you introduced the video giving this sort of campfire story feel or should I say campfire legend
P.S.if you got my joke I sincerely apologise
I love these videos! Please keep 'em coming. I love your EDH deck guides.
This deck looks crazy fun! I cant wait to try it. More videos like this please!

Amazing video as always. Happy holidays :)
I love this. Edh deck techs are great and i love how you did it.
I enjoyed this video, gave me lots of ideas! Keep it up, dude!
You pick some of the best music for your videos
Sweet video man! Taking a few tips for my Teysa Tiny Leader deck from this...
I love the Nier music in the beginning. Fits very well
I made a tiny leaders Teysa deck, but I had no idea she was actually this good!
Okay, you've sold me on EDH. I was set on getting a chinese booster box of khans of tarkir for christmas, but looks like I'm going for a teysa EDH.

Thanks for helping me discovering Teysa.
How does your deck look today in 2020?
Greetings, Eiscold
i would love to see an updated version of this deck
I made a teysa edh deck because of.this video! Thanks man, can't say my play group enjoys death by blasting station
Pulled both her and Kaya from RAL,can't wait to make an Orzhov deck.
Professor,
You should do an update video(s) for this and your other Commander decks. This video and the Primer has lead me to make my own Teysa deck.
Hey Tolarian, how much did this deck cost in total?
Great video. Just outstanding and make perfectly for people like me who is trying to understand how to make a deck (of any kind) how to make a commander deck and how to use cards in combos and the likes. So sorry didn't realize this was a really long comment I'm sorry.
Hi Prof, saw the Tesya Karlov video. I prefer the Scion as well! Would love if you updated this list
The most annoying question is : who the hell is the guy in the card with Teysa?(Love your vids, Prof
I have been thinking about that ever since I first saw the card. Maybe her bodyguard, as she is a very important person to the Orzhov.
The guy's name is Melisk, Teysa's attendant.
mtg.gamepedia.com/Melisk
Every powerful extortionist always needs a bodyguard;you get a lot of hate extorting people for their money and souls.

Simon Grey That's a fun idea, I'll try it out next time I play. That's why I love this deck so much, there's just so many things you can do with it.
Im so glad i got the Woodhouse joke.
Hehehe, me too! I swear, I look at that card and it is totally Woodhouse.
"...BECAUSE HOW HARD IS IT TO POACH A GODDAMN EGG?"
Niv-Mizzet + Curiosity = you're going to hell.
Crimson Vulpes Hehehehehe
😂😂😂👍👍👍
I added Elenda the dusk rose to my version of this deck...OMG soooo much fun... sooo much value...
For tutoring cards just add paradox engine, planar portal, and planar bridge. Once u get those out and with all the mana gain u can use them endlessly. At least with the first 2. Bridge is just a bonus to get cards out immediately that u could use in a pinch.
arjun the shifting flame should be your next deck study!!
I'd like to see what your thoughts are on a Tiny Leaders adaptation with this commander, Teysa. I've been fascinated with this format ever since I read about it. Time for me to brew!
i made a deck exactly like this im exited to see whats new to it since i havent played much
Another great video!! Keep it coming.
Is there any chance that you could start making videos on decks for the new Tiny Leaders format? I'd love to see this turned into a deck for that format!
Happy holidays Tolarian :-)
I'd like to see a video of Tolarian's personal take on what each color in MTG represents, and how he thinks each should typically be played.
One of my first legendary creatures was Teysa from Return to Ravnica block.
I really like your intro music!
I may have missed it, but I thought for sure you were going to mention Ghost Council somewhere in this video.
Well, I guess I'm gonna start saving up for this Teysa Commander deck.
this gave me good idea on deck thx XD
Darksteel plate is good addition if you play this non comendarish
4:12 that card is a good addition to any deck one of my faws from the op category XD
4:51 Darksteel plate :D its more simple
I also Nether Traitor one of my favorite servants good with clamp and its just stabil direct damage also wields blade of blood chef nicely XD
7:47 love this one :3
9:13 and i thought you wont mention this one my bad xD
9:40 if we really go that old school here are some honorable mentions: nether shadow and ashen ghoul are just fabulous grave power.
~ All hail Orzhov XD
Sounds powerful. Just hearing about this makes me wish I could play against it with my pet commander deck: Captain Sisay with her unstoppable toolbox of hatebears and unreasonably gigantic creatures.
Wonderful video as always.
Consider Dawn of the Dead. A nice way to keep a continuous stream of creatures coming from your graveyard as long as you have one of your sac outlets. Also it's a major flavor win.
4:22
Non creature tokens instead of non token creatures.
Yes, I know it was a mistake, but I want to comment on something on this 4 year old video!
Great video as aways. Also I have a request, could you maybe do one of these videos for marath, prossh, or animar? Keep up the good work.
I really need to build this deck, been tinkering with a black/green deck that seems to be going no-where, maybe a tried and tested deck such as this can change my luck.
Great video thanks! Can you provide us with a decklist of how your deck looks so far?
What is that artwork starting at 3:23? The one with people walking up stairs into the fat guys stomach?
Maw of the Obzedat
Thankyou.
Hahaha, congratulations, you'r doing an incredible job in this channel, you'r such a good speaker hahahah,
Really amazing this commander deck!!
And since you said you will make anoder Q¨&A could you show us your card collection and few good stories you have about them? I think it would be great, hehahhaha
Keep it uuup!!!
Music was spot on.
+coolnobodycares Beacon of unrest doesn't get Enchantments. Only a creature or artifact from any grave. Mirrodin did not like Enchantments that much.
+demonzero677 Well it's still more than worth it.
Oh absolutely, it's damn worth it in any deck that runs black.
I find it odd that no other decklist for this deck I've seen runs the newer Elspeth, Sun's champion. She's a bit more expensive then Knight-errant, sure, but she is basically "+1: exile target creature" and a reusable retribution of the meek all in one card.
LOVE LOVE LOVE the meekstone!
